Ok so I have a ways to go when it comes to doing this blog justice, but I am trying, and when I say I am trying I know shaz is grinning and agreeing with me as I type this.
Well as many of you know Shaz and I have a shared facebook account, we only started it in 2009 when we got married as everyone was uploading photos from our wedding, now you may be asking why am i bringing this up?
Well it's simples 😀
I see all the craft posts, just like Shaz does, and all the new stash that are due out, and quite often I will tell shaz what I think will look cool and say she must have it, well that kind off hasn't stopped.
Wilted Violet, Chipped Sapphire, Frayed Burlap, Iced Spruce & Blueprint sketch.
The "One day At A Time" stamp just had to be bought
The "Rose Corner Stencil" (can't see a name for it, but it is the new one)
Well that could only mean one thing, videos, I watched the facebook video for Honey doo Crafts launch for the new stamps (after the fact), then went to Youtube on how to do some of the things I wanted to do with them, and more importantly the type of stock for stamping on Lavinia Stamps (Quality Card Multifarious Smooth and Supreme 20x A5 330gsm).
I did make a mistake with the stamping towards the end by placing the stamp on the card upside down, when I flipped it round the it took some of the background away.
The spiral stamp is from a set called "Winter Solstice 71" from a company called Non Sequitur which I believe are still going under De-stempelwinkel Linky not a cheap set but a pretty cool one.
For the clock I used a versafine Clair - Nocturne ink, for the stencil more ink from Versafine Clair, this time "Shady lane" for the foliage & "Glamour" for the rose heads.
I also tried my hand at embossing, now I know what your thinking, and you would be right, thats a full on gallop.
Dang it, that is not as easy as it looks ha ha, nor is it easy to mask and use half the stamp when not using the stamp platform.
My third mistake was not putting enough embossing ink (is it ink?) on the stamp then you have to go back in and do it again (I digress) well lets just say the bottom part of the text is wonky and leave it at that.

So glad you are keeping the crafting going Doug - SHaz would indeed be smiling. As for mistakes, we all make them and that is how we learn. My first card opened on the wrong side as I put the paper on upside down. I will be thinking of you both on Friday as I am sadly at work so won't make the funeral even virtually. Stay safe. Hugs. Ah yes, mistakes in crafting - merely opportunities! you are doing a great job and Shaz would be thrilled that you are using her supplies and having fun too. I will be joining you on Friday and thinking of you both as always. Take care, Doug. Hugs xx Helen #3
I’m chuckling Doug, in a nice way, because I think it’s wonderful that you’re giving it a go and experimenting. There’s no mistakes only happy accidents. You’re much more advanced than me already. I haven’t a clue what all that stuff is for and how it works. One day When we can all gather together again I’m sure this lot are going to bombard me with lessons haha.
Thinking of you tomorrow.

I am loving your experiments with crafting Doug - we all make mistakes even if we have been crafting for a long time. You are doing so well. I will be joining you on Friday and praying for you and the family. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#11)
Morning Doug. Oh my. You have me chuckling today. Well done you. That's so brilliant that you are trying your hand at this crafting malarky! The end result is lovely. And what is more - you had the courage to go buy... well done you!
I am aiming to be there on the link on Friday - I do pray it will be a precious time for you and your family as you celebrate the life of the one who meant so much to you. Shaz was a dear soul.
Take care. God bless.

Oh Doug what a lovely post. I’m sure I’d be making lots of mistakes with all that amazing equipment to use but I’m pretty sure my results wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as yours....keep up the good work.
See you Friday.
Hugs,

Guess everyone will tell you we all make mistakes - that's because we do, no matter how long we have been stamping. So good to see you crafting, it will help you while away the time, you get so immersed in it it is silly o'clock before you know it. The thing is, Shaz will be with you whilst you are doing it all and smiling her lovely smile because at last she has got you on the way to being hooked on it.
See you Friday, will be with you in thoughts.
Hugs, Neet 15 xx
Brilliant - just remember - there is no wrong way only a different way! I was deleting a few old emails this week and I came across one from Shaz headed "Still smiling". I think I had emailed her with it and she replied but it just made me smile and Yes - having seen your lovely work I am sure she is still smiling. (And I didn't delete the email) xx Jo
"It's not a mistake, it's an opportunity for embellishment" (source unknown). I think you're doing amazingly well - you've obviously picked up stuff by osmosis over the years! (that's a thing I say and my son always says it's not how osmosis works and I know that but it's a good word!) Sending you lots of love and strength for the next few days especially, and particularly the day after, which I've heard is the most tricky day. Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8
So good to see you embracing (and developing) on Shaz's (and my) obsessions .... it's true what they say, Doug, that BUYING stash and USING stash are two entirely different hobbies! Cracking stash, lovely make and ... you should know this important fact, there are NO MISTAKES in art
Happy WOYWW
Kathyk
You already know and have tried more about stamping etc than I do, lol! Love the fact that you’re having fun and are experimenting, Shaz is there in that room with you cheering you on!
We’ll all be with you tomorrow Doug xxxxx
Hugs LLJ 2 xxx
Doug, you're such a sweetie keeping Shaz's blog running, keeping up with the enabling and even trying your hand at crafing! But you know what I think it all helps you cope and it's also lovely for us to see Shaz's legacy go on for a while longer (we can't expect you to keep this up forever, obviously, but hey, if the crafting bug bites you, there's no point fighting it)! I'm familiar with the "free shipping filler" concept - the number of times I've tried to push the total over the line buying things I didn't really need! And mistakes - we're all familiar with those too - part of the learning process! I'm sure Shaz finds it all hilarious! I'll keep an eye out for that link... Friday's a work day for me but as I'm working from home I can sneak away for a while I'm sure - would love to say goodbye with tissues ready. Sending you hugs xx zsuzsa #21
@Jan
Remember its friday 19th for the funeral not thursday xx
Lot's of great new supplies ~ Blessings to you and the gang as you honor your sweet creative friend. Love, Karen#29
Oh man.
You've surpassed yourself this time.
What do I mean?
You've taken on the mantle of Enabler in Chief as well. Shaz would be so proud! ROFLMAO
I'd kind of forgotten about Non Sequitur. They do such amazing stamps. Well, De Stempelwinkel do, I should say. I have two of their plates already, maybe three in fact. And now I discover I need another one. Or three. I fell down the rabbit hole.....
Fantastic that you've joined the inky-fingered ranks amongst us and I am SO looking forward to seeing what you turn out next...
Much love
Mortixxx
Uh! Oh! This is getting serious - enabling as well! Love the tale of the making of your card! Bravery medal offered for the embossing! T will have to up his game!! Take care, Chris and Tonyxx
Doug, you are on it doggone it!!! I LOVE, LOVE, that you are catching the "bug" and carrying on the Shaz tradition!! She was quite the enabler and it seems the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree!! LOL I love your creative goodies and you are becoming quite handy with the creating! It will get easier and easier and you will soon become a pro!!! I still don't do a lot right when it comes to creating, but sometimes what comes out turns out to be even better!! Hats off to you sir!!!!!! LOVE the "and finally!" And, I agree TOTALLY!!! Many, many blessings for you as you go into Friday! I know that it will be amazingly special and memorable for all. As there is a time difference for me and I work fulltime, I am not sure that I will be able to attend, however, may lots of light, love, peace and comfort surround you in the day!! Many blessings to you Doug, Felicia #27
I had to smile at your description of the stamping. You are making all the mistakes that you need to make at the beginning, it's the only way we learn the job. I hope everything goes well on Friday for you all. Have a lovely week and a creative woyww, Angela x18x
Love your new stamps, definitely a must have - I shall immediately see if I can find it. Enjoy your crafting Angela #17
Hi Doug, I'm so impressed with how you're rising to the crafty challenge. I remember what it was like to learn new techniques - it's a lifelong learning experience. Mistakes are inevitable but you'll be surprised at how many can be rescued with a tweek here and there.
I hope all goes well on Friday and I will be thinking of you and Shaz.
Take care. Hugs, Elizabeth x #22
Hi Doug, your a born Crafter. You took more onboard than you think in watching Shaz at work. There are no mistakes made in crafting just happy experiments which have a outcome all of their own. Will be thinkin of you all tomorrow.
Hugs Mrs A.
Love what you've made, Doug. And I really like how you tell us your "mistakes". Those are really just extra challenges your brain thinks up when the card is too easy, right Dave? HALCRAFT2021 hahaha "They" say to get full embossing ink coverage when using colored ink, first press your stamp into some Versamark, then the Clair, then stamp it and clear-heat-emboss. It works for me, but I also will wipe the surface with that powder pouch static thing, then ink with Versamark and use colored powder to heat emboss for the best impression, oh and pray the powder doesn't stick where I don't want it to. And if it does, then shrug it off and scream, Homemade! lol Will be crashing the Friday viewing if I'm up then. I think that's 4am my time and I'm sometimes up, it just depends on my pain. Here's to a great show for our dear Shaz! Hugs! xoxo
My goodness Doug, you are doing Shaz proud. That spiral in the middle was perfect.
I’m no paper crafter, apart from origami - you already know way more than me
I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow and sending big hugs. Once the funeral is over, plan for an intense project day to get through.
Take care
Big hugs

Hi Doug, it's so good to see you keeping the blogging and the crafting (and enabling) going. You Tube vids are a brilliant resource and I'm sure you'll soon be embossing to perfection, but meanwhile your card is beautiful just as it is - great colour combination and the floral corner works really well with the gorgeous clock stamp.
We'll all be "there" with you on Friday, hope all goes smoothly. Remember to take care of yourself. Annie C #25
Well I think you've become hooked Doug, well done and your new purchases are just lovely, Your card is fabulous, Shaz would indeed be smiling, Kate x
OMG DOug, you made me laugh! a such a credible card, love that you’re doing it and using it all, and hey, you can only learn by doing it wrong...there are so many tips and tricks that it’s just easier to do it wrong and get out the habit than it is to try to remember all the ‘rules’. Which aren’t rules! Love the blending of inks and the buying of new stuff....l I’ve that you’re blogging. Keep on, man.
Super Duper colour combo Doug, and love the stamps and sentiment. You are really getting into this. BJ#9
Well done you for taking up the crafting mantle. A wonderful effort - Shaz would be proud. I am quite sad to not have been able to attend. I will hope to see a glimpse of it all somewhere at some point - I see your "wheel" post so off to check that next. You all were very much in my mind today.
Crazy week, so late..
Mary Anne (4)
You are doing an awesome job! For every mistake, something is learned! I love the spiral, I have that Non-Sequitur set, it's one of my favourites! I can see why you would like it too. I hope everything goes well with the funeral, I will be thinking of you all. Lindart #31
I have an ATC from waaaay back to celibrate the 3rd Anniversary of WOYWW? 5 of 7 (so 6 other's must also have one the same one) it's reads, 'creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep' Tim Holtz? Anyway, I think your card is pretty perfect! Stay Safe! Keep crafting. Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #19
Well done on the crafting! Even as a seasoned crafter I still regularly make mistakes!
Thinking of you...

Doug, I am absolutely thrilled that you have taken over Shaz's craft room and are not only making amazing stuff but also adding to her stash of stash with more stash! This is amazing and she would be so proud of you and so pleased. If it's any encouragement to you, I happen to be one of the world's worst stampers and even manage to smudge/get stuff upside down etc using a stamping platform! I once made a card with butterflies that were upside down and my friend said they were kamikaze butterflies! I love what you are doing and the desk looks busy and organised, just as it should be.
Thank you so much for all the hard work and organising so that we were able to log in on Friday and share the farewell to Shaz with the family. Covid has its silver lining after all - without lockdowns etc we probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to take advantage of technology in this way. Last year we had a couple of funerals that we would not have been able to attend under normal circumstances, but they used the same software you did, and we could all join in. I was so impressed with Shaz's black coffin with the glitter - so very Shaz! The flowers on top were perfect too. Very nice to hear a bit about her earlier life that I didn't know - I had no idea she was so well qualified, for instance.
Sending you and the family loads of love and hope you are all coping as well as possible.
Belatedly on WOYWW this week - other things seem to have taken over a bit!
