WOYWW #577- The Inking again Edition.

Hello all, and a Happy Wednesday to you all. Our regular desk share, thanks to our lovely leader, Julia, over at The Stamping Ground.
Yes, I'm inking up a load more of those panels, as there are going to be a mountain of thank you cards needed in the near future, and I thought those would be an ideal starting point, but more of that later.

I've also pulled out my Adirondacks to use this time round, couldn't tell you how many years I've had them, and as soon as I heard they were being discontinued a few years ago, I bought re-inkers for them all. They have lots of lovely pale colours as well as some nice bright ones.

Cutting a stack of panels, I'm using up some packs of Matt cardstock I bought from Lavinia, also a few years ago.
Brushes at the ready!

Something arrived from Max, (Tilly Tea Dance) today, part of my eldest sons birthday present, a needle felted bookmark.

Quick shot of the Christmas Cards made from the dies I had out last week.

And so I come to the reason for needing so many Thank You cards.
The house you see here is Dougs  youngest brothers families home. In the early hours of Sunday the 14th, there was a really fierce house fire, the house is completely gutted, but the good news is they escaped with their lives, even though it meant jumping from upstairs windows, so there are a number of burns and broken bones between them. It's going to be a long haul back for them, but the wider  family have pulled together, and have been helped by many friends. Those of you who know us on Facebook will have seen the GoFundMe, to which I know some have you have donated, and shared, you have no idea how appreciative we are. If anyone would like to share it on their pages, the link is HERE.
I know the family, as well as Tim & Lyndsay, are going to want to say a Thank you to so many people, friends of theirs who have reacted by buying clothes, made offers of furniture, to hospital staff who are caring for them, and so many others.

And so I'm at the end of my post for today, which brings us to....And Finally......

Terrible news about Doug's brother and his family. I have made a small donation, hope they get back on their feet soon. I have all the Adirondack ink pads but none of the reinkers alas. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

Oh Shaz and Doug. What a horribly frightening thing to happen to your family. I'm so glad they are safe, and being well cared for, despite the burns, bruises, and breaks! How right is the thought on your "And finally" - a positive attitude does indeed go a long way - I trust that out of all this pain and suffering will come something good. Those are very scary photographs!
Take care the pair of you. Stay safe. God bless you all.

PS. - love those Christmas cards!

Oh Gosh Shaz that is awful so thankful they managed to escape and I wish them well. Know how frightening fire can be. That is one pile of inks, did they give a reason for discontinuing. Love the caption at the end. Ani.

They were amazingly lucky to escape that Shaz, how terrrible the fire must have been to destroy the house like that - I'm so relieved that they're alive, albeit having to cope with their terrible injuries. Poor poor things, they must be traumatised by what happened - well done to you and Doug for setting up the response, it seems like there's lots of folk who want to help.
The And Finally is very apt!

Oh my word...I’m not regular enough on FB to have seen this, will follow the link in a minute. ISnt this just everybody’s worst case scenario, to lose everything. I too am relieved to hear that they all escaped , but how devastating. I had a small fire in my kitchen years ago that took weeks and months to get over in terms of repair, renew, smell, and depression, to be honest. I feel hugely for the family SHaz, please keep us in the know about how they’re all doing. I hope you need so many thank you cards that you are utterly swamped!

Oh my word - the main thing is they are OK. It just shows that you need to consider exits in worst case scenarios (we had a special window put in for just this sort of thing!). I'm sure with everyone's help, they will sort themselves out. The cards are looking great!

Hope YOU are well.

Love

The fire photos are so scary...I'm so glad they all survived the experience but I'm sure they will be scarred in many ways because of it.
Love the and finally...its one I like to use every day.

Oh Shaz, what a terrible ordeal for them, but so thankful no lives were lost. I've just popped over and made a small donation, I hope they are soon physically mended, and will also get the help they need to cope with the emotional trauma. My heart goes out to them.

Wow that photo is so scary - thank goodness they all managed to get out. Devastating but could have been so much worse. I hope they are all recovered soon. Great idea to get ahead of the thank you cards - you'll do a sterling job. Stay safe, stay well, happy woyww Cindy #11

Oh Shaz! What frightening news. I am glad to hear that everyone got out. Broken bones and bruises will heal but I am sure the mental distress will take some time. I am glad we live in the age of gofundme so that we helping is more accessible.
I am so envious of all of you working on Christmas cards now. I wish I would do it but I am not in the mood to look at my Christmas supplies. You will be able to coast through the holiday season without worry smarty pants!
Stay well.

I must say I still love the Adirondacks. Like you I've had them for years and have passed a few on to my friend's daughter who has just started crafting and I was really impressed when I saw how juicy they still are. That needle felting looks gorgeous too. I think house fires are one of the most scary things but thank goodness they all got out safely. My thoughts are with them. Sending gentle hugs, Angela x19x

Oh my! The fire must have been an awful shock for them, I do hope a full recovery isn’t far away. It is so wonderful when people care about others. Great Christmas cards and a beautiful bookmark plus I always appreciate Snoopy x Angela #33

Good grief, that's such an awful situation. It happened to a family down the road from us in November last year and one of their dogs didn't make it. The vet bills alone were astronomical but the community rallied around and it was amazing to see. Whereabouts are they so I can see who I know over that way? On the positive side, your Christmas cards have turned out lovely and I particularly like the Joy ones. Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #14

You often hear of house fires but never think it could happen to you or your family. How awful! You definitely need that positive attitude you posted about, Shaz, and just think how lucky they are that they escaped otherwise it would be game over. When you look at it that way, it's a lucky escape - houses can be rebuilt, stuff replaced but you can't replace people. Glad they all got out and they can now start rebuilding their lives. Love the felted bookmark - such pretty colours! Stay positive xx zsuzsa #24

Hi Shaz, I'll be practising with my 'brushes' this weekend, and hopefully get some good results. That's a very scary picture, must have been so traumatic for them all, a very lucky escape that they all got out, and I hope they recover well from their injuries. Thank you for sharing the GoFundMe link, I'll pop over later, and good luck with all the thank you cards. Another Brooks - I wonder if you are a distant relative, along with Ani .... I will have to see where my genealogy trails take me. Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, hugs, Heather xx #4

I have lots of Adirondack pads too - didn't know about the reinkers though - I have some but not that many. Shame, they are lovely pads and colours. Why did they get rid of them?
Lovely Christmas cards and such a lovely gift for your son.
The fire sounded horrible when `I read about it in the link on Facebook and I do hope they can recover both physically and mentally from the terrible injuries they have all suffered. I imagine a fear of fire will remain with them for a long time if not for life. There wasn't anyway I could help with clothes or furniture but I hope my small contribution to the fund will help in some way. It was good to see the figure the other day when I got a message from Doug. May it continue to grow.
A lovely idea of yours to make lots of thankyou cards.
hugs, Neet 8 xx

What a terrible thing, Shaz. I am so sorry for your family going through this trauma. It's not just the shock and fear, and the serious injuries too, but the complete loss of all the physical things that makes a house a home - all the family photos and mementos and everything they hold precious, and also facing an unknown future, having to begin again, with the lack of that continuity which is so important in family life. As someone who has always loved being at home more than anywhere else on earth, I can only try and imagine how they must be feeling. Sending love to you all.

Dreadful news about the fire - so pleased to hear that everyone was safe! It will take some while to get back to normal!
Loved looking at all your crafting... such a good idea to prepare lots of panels in advance. Great cards with the dies. I had at least an equal number of stamp pads - but had to decrease my stash before the move to Australia (sigh)
Excellent positive thought to finish!

Thanks for your visit, Shaz - glad you enjoyed my photos this week. We are thrilled to have our old electric fire instead of the awful gas one and wish we'd done it when we first moved. My hubby has now put a panel behind it to cover the hole and it looks OK. I can't believe the kitties were once so small and fluffy!

Oh my, that must have been so scary, a burning house... you are so sweet to step in and help, with so many stamping pads on your desk you will do a great job making thank-you-cards! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier this week, sorry I'm late with my visit back to your blog but finally time fell into place with my mind, yay! Have a great weekend, hug from Holland. Marit #28

Hi Shaz! So sad about the house, but glad everyone made it out with their lives. It could have been a much different story. About he Adirondacks, I didn't know they were discontinued, but I only have one or two anyway. I use mainly black and brown inkpads. I have lots of coloured inkpads but rarely use them, and so they are drying out. Your cards are gorgeous! My favourite is the JOY card! Thanks for your visit and your kind words re my journal! Hubby is painfully recovering in the hospital for another week...Have a great week, Lindart #29

Oh, my! How tragic! Fortunate that the family was saved.

Everything else seems to pale in comparison, doesn't it?

Sorry to be so late getting around. Had a doctor's appointment 2 hours out of town. Put a crip in things. But again, insignificant by comparison.

Take care. Stay well.
Happy Friday!
