WOYWW #575- The Actually Finishing Stuff Edition.

I am, finally getting this batch finished. These ones had needed a bit of colour adding, and one needs fixing, as I stamped the quote, realised it needing stamping again. Didn't check my cardstock hadn't moved, so got a blurred repeat.

By the way, using the new Blogger update this week, so we'll see how that goes.

The one bottom left. So, how do we fix the unfixable? We just restamp on a separate piece, and matt it on top, lol.

Not totally happy, I think I should have just binned it, to be honest. But I expect in a couple of days and I'll be ok with it.

Made another batch, as I have more ideas. And there's always the UFO box.

For Belinda, I didn't use watercolour paper, it's just ordinary white card for stamping on.

Christmas cards using a Jennifer McGuire technique, Distress Oxide resist, in the post below.

Regarding the issue I had with my cardstock being lifted and moved out of place on my stamping platform- I have bought a bigger bar magnet off Amazon- just a rare earth magnet, not a special 'crafting' brand one-and that does help, most of the time. But, the absolute best solution I have for you, I came across on I think, SCS. Sizzix brought out some Sticky Grid Sheets, to use on Big Shot plates to hold dies in place, saves using tape. Well, some ladies had started using them in their stamping platform. I had a pack, so gave it a try.

You get 5 in a pack, they're the same size each as a Big Shot plate, so I'd guess roughly A5. On the Sizzix UK site, £7. Beware if you Google for them, as their are specific ones for the Sidekick too, which are much smaller. They really do work, they are tacky, rather than sticky, and hold your cardstock completely still and in place.

And so I'm done for this week, I'll be adding my link at Julias place, The Stamping Ground and popping round to see you all later.

Which just leaves.....And Finally......

Another week has gone by with absolutely no crafting from me - it's as well you are making up for my inactivity!! Have a great week. Helen #?

Morning Shaz. Exactly how I redo a mistake, a slip or whatever! Makes the card different from how I was imagining it, but still fine. I think yours looks great - that colour is good! So, lots more pieces to work on - filling up your UFO box, and lots more ideas to go with it. Enjoy!
I love those Christmas cards!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Great tips Shaz, thanks. I just make sure that my card stock is pushed into the corner of my stamp platform each time before I stamp as I get frustrated with the magnets. I have a Misti bar magnet which is much better than the small round ones. Love the cards, great save! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #17

Lol at your And Finally!! Though I have to say I'm not sitting down much and I don't know where the days are going...ask me what I did yesterday and I'd struggle to remember though, it's all a Lockdown Blur! I LOVE those strip cards so much, it's a great technique. And I dont' want to know what you're going to do with a super powerful magnet but if the earth shifts on its axis, we'll know who to blame..... ;-)

Your cards are just fabulous, and you saved the day beautifully with the quote that moved on the platform. The Christmas cards are beautiful and I do love a black snowflake, almost more than a white one I think!
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,

Morning Shaz, I love the cartoon but it seems at odds with your high volume of productivity! Lots more lovely cards there, makes me feel guilty for managing so few.
Thanks for sharing

I read Jan's comment and it really made me chuckle...she's such a wicked gal isn't she. I love the bar cards too...they can be used for so many things I'm sure.

Truly you make the most amazing band of colour come to life with a stamp and script. I do Like the solution to the double image ... nothing wrong with a little matting. Cute ending ... that is me at the end of the day.
Stay safe and keep creating the stunning cards.

Morning Shaz

You are so productive. I love all your cards and I think your cover up looks absolutely fine, don't stress. We are so self critical of ourselves aren't we.
I was interested with your slipping paper in your stamp platform. That's not a problem I've had yet but I haven't had it long so it's interesting to know you can get extra magnets if needed. I tend to only use it for large stamps but am still playing really.
Have a good week

Hello Shaz, love your snowflake cards, will check out the technique x. That Is an interesting solution for the stamping platform. Wonder if they are similar to the Scan n Cut sheets? A great cartoon, for me it us usually the reverse. I plan on getting a lot done, but don’t get there. I must remind myself of the technique with middle panel too because I love your designs. There is no where on earth I expect to see you sitting in a chair doing nothing. You are always on the go so it seems. What a tremendous amount of cards you have produced again and still have more to finish. It is a lovely technique you have picked up on and I think I need to go and have a look at Jennifer's videos before too long.
Thanks for the tip about the sticky plates.

I am well impressed the cards look brilliant. Never heard of the Sticky grid sheets, will have to see if I can find some they look worth a try. Have a lovely week and a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x19x

Yep the dries up paint was about 8 out of my 20 paints tubes from the same set and some other single bottles. Hubby has given me some waterbased undercoat in white as I didn't have any white left. Super cards love them all. Thanks for the visit BJ#21

I LOVE your cards! Each one is so different!
And I've had to layer sentiments occasionally, too. Not the best but whoever gets it usually very happy with the card.
I'm gonna have to try some Distress Oxides. I keep looking at them but that's as far as it's gone.
The Grid Sheets look interesting.
Love the quote but that only happens when I'm sleeping... LOL!
Take care!

Hi Shaz, I do like the panel cards - definitely very effective with the stamps and simple sentiments, and the fix was perfect... the recipient will never know! I'd stopped used my Stamping platform because the two dinky magnets were a bit weak - never occurred to me to just buy stronger magnets- I really could give blondes a bad name sometimes! I'll also check out the tacky sheets. The Distress Oxide resist snowflakes look cool - but that sounds way too technical for a simple crafter like me. Maybe in a few years lol! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I don't think I have a firework stamp, but since I haven't yet indexed all my stamps, I really have no idea! I will have a look through them at weekend. Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #3

Those sticky mats sound perfect for the stamping platform, a bit like the mats I use for the Silhouette machine. The tackiness doesn't last for ever but I have a special glue that re-tacks them. I actually find the mats useful for all sorts of things as well! I hope they make things easier for you. Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #23

Hi, Shaz!
Love your finished cards! Still haven't given that technique a go, but it is on my list.
You won't see anything from me this week. I have still been busy with the same flowers as last. I just finished a big red peony! I refrained from posting because I think folks may be getting tired of the same thing.

How's your shoulder been this week?

Stay well and Happy Wednesday!
Kathryn

Ooh that is interesting that the sheets will hold the cardstock in the stamping platform. that is cool. :) I just love the way those colors flow on the strips of cards you are doing too. ~Stacy #30

I just love your cards, Shaz, with the inked strip. Next time I'm card making in the studio I must try this... Where did you find that picture of me (at the end)?!! The only thing that's missing is 2 kitties to anchor me in place!! I saw Jennifer Maguire's video on that technique with the Distress Oxide resist and have yet to try it. It's really lovely.

Thank you for visiting my blog and also for the Alec Steele details - I've watched some and he's absolutely amazing! So young, so talented, and so enthusiastic! What a great guy.

Glad you like my knives. I got the original set last year. I am highly delighted with the new one which came last week and it's been in use to prepare every single meal since it arrived. I'm in awe at how brilliant it is. Those magnetic strip knife racks are very good. I used to have one in our old house. As long as it's accessible, whatever you use is great. It's easy to fill up your work surfaces with stuff, however much space you have! I've now got rid of the old wooden knife block as I no longer need it, along with most of my old knives. The worktop over the other side is now full of machines! Pictures of our kitchen when it was new, it looks so tidy but now there seems to be stuff everywhere. It's all used though.

Happy WOYWW,

Bless you, Shaz, I never use my Tim platform because the paper comes up with the stamp. Went right over to amazon and picked up 3 packs. After not being able to buy more Pixie stencil spray afforadably, I kind of go ape sheet now when I see something I might need more of. Oh well, cost same as at Sizzix but free shipping so me happy. Thanks again, I always learn so much from you between here and Splitcoast. And your Lavinia cards are fab!!! Pinned!!! And tell your Shoshi we've used a magnetic knife strip in our kitchen for a few decades now. Other than dear daughter growing up with a fear of knives on walls(taught her not to bump into the wall HA!), it's perfect. XOXOX

Sorry I’m late. that cartoon...this lockdown thing is getting on my nerves now, I have to have things to do or I just fritter the day away! I’m missing the better weather, at least I was outdoors being unproductive!! Love the finished cards, I think the mounted piece is just fine, and definitely the recipient of that card won’t know! Great tip for the stamp positioned thingy, it’s about the only thing I use washi tape for, and that’s only once in a flood because I barely use them positioned. In fact, I’m not sure where it is since I moved out of my proper room!!

I love all the cards and I love that we can “fix’ the ones instead of tossing. We just need to be creative in our thinking. Have a wonderful week. Dorlene #35

Hi Shaz! Great tip for the platform! I haven't had that problem so far, but if I do, I know just what to do! I like your "fix" on the card actually better than just stamping the sentiment on the card, it brings your eye right to it. Thanks for your visit, stay safe, Lindart #29

Hi Shaz.
I can't always follow all the technical terminology, but I do enjoy seeing the step by step "how to" pictures! The snowflake cards are lovely, and I imagine even lovelier in real life with the shimmer effect. I think the "if it goes wrong stick something over the top and style it out" tactic is perfectly valid. I do it all the time! And by the looks of it if you still don't like it you could just chop the bottom off completely and have a square card with the sentiment inside!
Sorry for the rather belated visit - have a good week!
