WOYWW #563- The Using up UFO's Edition

Annnd another week just flew past! Wednesday again, so time to meet up at Julias place, The Stamping Ground, for our usual desk snoop. There is crafting happening, in the form of finally getting to the bottom of my UFO pile. Two reasons for that, one, I almost missed last weekends Christmas Card Club posting, as for some reason I'd mislaid a week somewhere- still have no idea where it went. Luckily, I had some suitable designs in my Christmas UFO storage, so got to catch up fairly easily.  They're in the post below. Second, my shoulder is giving me hell! Some of you may recall back some years ago now, I broke a corner off my Shoulder blade, where the Rotator Cuff attaches.
Which left me with my arm in a splint for 12 weeks. It healed fine, but occasionally it starts to ache, a dull ache that starts in my shoulder, and gradually goes down my arm. It started a couple of weeks ago, but wasn't too bad, but I think I aggravated it somewhat using my Rotary Cutter to put a fancy edge on the inserts for all those cards I was doing.
So, the inserts are on hold for the moment, although I have managed to get about half of them done. As I can't do any more of them right now, and looking through my UFO storage, I realised just how many I have, I'm going to be making as many into cards as I can.

Sort of sorted into themes, some closer to being finished than others.

And these do not include all the Christmas ones I have either.

One small enable this week, a  die from Honey Doo, which cuts a panel for the front of a card. It's quite large, roughly 7"x5", it will do the front of a card made from A4 cardstock, folded in half.

The Mothers Day cards are finished, I added acrylic stones to the flower centres.  A strip of ribbon across the front, and a silver peel off coloured with Sharpies to match. I only have a couple of Mothers Day stamps, and both are too big for the front of the card.

Heads up here for anyone who had tickets booked for Happy Stampers in April, Inkylicious posted on FB that they've been advised by the organisers that it has been cancelled. There's nothing on the HS website yet, but they are clearly informing exhibitors.
I also saw something on FB about another set of shows being cancelled/postponed,the Create-It shows, and I know the NEC show is postponed until June, so if you've booked any tickets for any shows, I'd recommend checking with organisers what's happening before setting out. Just seen that the Sincerely Yours show at Leigh in March has been cancelled.

I hope everyone is keeping well, and keeping themselves & their families safe.

With that in mind, this weeks And Finally.............

Happy Stampers have cancelled the May show and also say that this October will be the last one Shaz. It's a real shame, but at least online shopping is still available. I can't believe how many UFOs you have lol. Love the finished Mother's Day cards. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

Sorry to hear about your shoulder rest is the only answer. Lots of UFO's but remember they will still be there for when your shoulder is better. Ani#7

Sorry to hear about your shoulder, mine is giving me some gip too - from holding my arm behind my back to press my knuckles into the pain in my back when in the car. It won't settle, been hurting for about three weeks now. Ah well, we just have to work around these things don't we.
An impressive number of cards Shaz, but then you always put me to shame with all that you do. Love how the Mothers Day cards have turned out - that ribbon is perfect! Would love to see how that new die cuts, it has me intrigued.
Hugs to you both and take care

Almost all our events are slowly being cancelled. Thank goodness for online shopping ..... You have an amazing collection of UFO's and the final cards are soooooo pretty. Take care and rest your shoulder, I find any repetitive task can be enough to aggravate an old injury. Stay safe and keep crafting.

Happy WOYWW. Rest that shoulder. I think you need an electronic cutting machine! If you want anything cut out - any shape/size/amount - then just email me (hello@aliwade.com). My Cricut Maker will do it quickly and without too much effort from me. One question - what do you do with all the cards you make? Do you sell them? Ali x #9

Hi Shaz ...loving the Mother’s Day cards...and now take care of that shoulder.
I think nearly all of the shows are getting cancelled but as I am the age bracket that has been told to stay in I had resigned myself to not going anywhere for the next 12 week...good job we have crafting..oh and coffee and chocolate....take care xxxx

Beautiful Mother's Day card Shaz what a strange Mother's Day it will be for many this year. Craft shows on hold at least we can work from home and carry on in light of it all. I store my UFO stamped images in those poly files so easy to keep them all in one place.
Take care of yourself and that shoulder, hope it doesn't get in the way of your craft time too much. Happy WoywW Hugs Tracey #10 x

Morning Shaz. You take care of that shoulder - hope it soon feels rested and much easier! It's a disconcerting feeling, isn't it, when everything around us seems to be falling apart - everything cancelled, nothing to venture out for.
I wonder where the hidden person in your little picture found all those loo rolls? Certainly not in any shop I have happened to visit in the past week! Do you reckon they would share their secret??? Or not!
Love the idea of all your UFOs being brought out and completed - if this goes on as long as we are being told it might ... well, I foresee them all being finished and a new stash of them being produced!!!
Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. God bless.

Morning Shaz,
I hope your shoulder feels easier soon. They have promised us some better weather next week so hopefully that will help all our aches and pains.
Love your Mother's Day cards, very classy.
We will appreciate the craft shows even more when they resume won't we?
Take care of yourself.

Sorry to hear your are having problems with your shoulder - I hope it gets better soon - lots of rest and some gentle crafting sound the best bet. I love how your Mother's day cards turned out, the jewels really are the perfect finishing touch, and my Goodness you have a lot of UFO's there - I'm sure that lot will keep you busy card making until this virus is well and truly over!

Shoulders take such a long time to get sorted, G tore his rotator cuff and it was a good six months of jabs/exercises etc before it was ok again. You had a craft related injury, surely there's some sort of compensation for that, lolol!!! The Mother's Day cards are so pretty, love the colours.
The And Finally made me laugh - maybe humour will knock it into some people's heads that they're being stupid and selfish when it comes ot shopping....then again.....

Brilliant funnies - especially the Rollo - looroll one! I agree with Jan - maybe by laughing at these selfish silly B's the message will get through.
I hope your shoulder soon eases - we don't realise how much we use it until we have a problem! Take care and keep safe. xx Jo #15

Thanks for your visit to my blog just now, yes - these are strange times and now you have a hurting shoulder on top of that, you poor thing! Your projects look amazing though, but don't work too hard! I will spend this unexpected 'free time' with creating too but it feels strange to have no job all of a sudden... I'm glad I have my online friends! Take care, stay healthy! Big virtual hug from the Netherlands! Marit #21

I have to say that apart from your arm in a sling, you're looking good. No Craft shows, no craft clubs! it will be like putting my money in a savings account Lol! still there's always on-line shopping but it's not quite the same is it. Loving the funnies, they cracked me up. Take care and wishing you a happy creative WOYWW, Angela x12x

Hi Shaz. So glad you posted the photos of the finished cards - they were already looking good last week and now they are just perfect!
It's so frustrating when you have a physical problem that stops you doing what you love to do, but hopefully being good and resting that shoulder will do the trick.
Thank you for the 'And Finally' pic. I literally laughed out loud at it!
Rest up and stay well!

Hello, my faraway friend! I am sorry to hear your shoulder is hurting. Take it easy. I love seeing your beautiful mother's day cards. Which reminds me I need to make one for my MIL. I also love seeing your other cards all organized. We are all home waiting for things to sort itself out there. Schools closed, businesses closed. Thank goodness we have hobbies to keep us sane. I have been reading my books and spending time at my craft table. It helps cut back on the stress of it all.
Stay well.

I am impressed as to how many UFOs you have! I rarely have more than a couple as I need to finish my projects for posts.
I hope your shoulder gets to feeling better soon!
Cool die! Would love to see how you use it.
I got a laugh from your 2 comics. But it is sad how people went nuts on buying stuff. Hard to get perishables in our area now.
Thanks for popping by and have a wonderful week.

Hi again, Shaz, sorry your suffering with that old injury. Hope it gets better soon. Your cards are all lovely and it must feel good to finish the UFOs at last. That's quite some pile you still have to work through. It's so sad for everyone that so many exhibitions and workshops are having to be cancelled but, hopefully, they will all be rescheduled when the virus has run its course. In the meantime, we have time to try to bottom our stash. Take care and hugs, Elizabeth x

Aaahhh, so THAT's what everyone is buying all those loo rolls for! To make an anti-virus bunker! Brilliant! The other funny gave me the first laugh I've had for days - really cheered me up! I've been having an awful time trying to get Tesco slots for my grocery deliveries - it's far worse than Christmas. My hubby is going to a special early morning opening for over-70s at Sainsbury's tomorrow to pick up the things Tesco is out of, and I've got more wholefoods coming from my online company but they are being rushed off their feet and having to ration stuff to prevent all the awful greedy selfish people grabbing it all.

I am so sorry you are suffering with your shoulder - amazing that you are able to produce so many stunning cards! They are all gorgeous, and so varied. You remind me of Jennifer McGuire with your skill at card making, Shaz!

Thank you for your visit. So glad you like the herb garden my hubby made for me! It's looking great now he's planted it all up. I am sure you are right about the County Show and I have every expectation that it will be cancelled, or at least postponed - in the meantime I shall continue knitting the bunting. If all else fails, I shall use it to decorate my studio!!

Happy WOYWW and hugs,

Well Shaz, if that isn’t entirely the best reason for not doing hateful insert, I don’t know what is!! I believe rest is the only cure isn’t it? And gin, of course. I love that you’ve got a hang of the UFOs, my word, the promises we make to go back and finish..just goes to show how often we do. My UFO pile isn’t quite so big because I get impatient and end up chucking them away!! Keep well missus, stay away from EVERYONE! Xxx

Hi Shaz, I've an injury to my right rotator cuff, and you're right that they can suddenly start up a big yell and yelp if you dont listen straight away. Pray you're able to rest and improving soon.
Sorry for late visit! 😊 saw last weeks post and MD cards, they're really beautiful, that bead finishes them so well!
Love the funnies too.. there's an obsession with loo paper here too. And its made here which is even weirder! I didn't buy extra but just as well I keep good supply generally.
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless you and all you love, and keep you well in these troubles times. In God we trust.

Hi Shaz, Oowie lady I hope this sling works to alleviate some of the pain in your arm & shoulder. ha, the toilet paper hoarders are here in the US too. ( I am rolling my eyes) you'd think they would be out buying canned soups or something. I love that you have so many pieces to play with, I probably should do that with some of my piles too. it would catch me up a little faster. ~Stacy #27

Hi Shaz, ouch - your shoulder injury sounds quite painful. Rest up m'lady, and don't overdo it. You and Margaret are such prolific card makers, I read your blogs with awe at how much you get through. I love the stamp on the mother's day cards, and also the die looks great. Honey Doo are one of my favourites, along with Lavinia. Stay safe, and have a lovely week Heather xx #13

Hello my dear friend. REALLY sorry to see your shoulder is hurting - all this crafting business certainly doesn't help such injuries! Your cards are lovely ... what a stash you must now have!
Sorry I am late getting back to you - total meltdown day yesterday when I had to look into H's beautiful big blue eyes through the letterbox and tell him "not today" when he asked to come in. His mommy was dropping us some fruit and bread into the porch - how do you explain all this to a five year old! I cried non-stop for 8 hours after he kissed me through the front window. Keep safe - look after yourselves and know I am thinking of you. Much love, Debbie xXx

HI Shaz!
Do take care of that shoulder. Sometimes, topical cream of some sort will help. Ask that sweet hubby for a good rub down, then show him the rotary cutter ;-) You know he would!
yes, Bob arrived home safe and sound. We ventured out Thursday to pick up his new (first) pair of glasses, ate lunch at a Chinese buffet and had coffee at my favorite coffee house. I guess we've not caught up with the 'shut down' here in the sticks yet but more and more places are doing so. Now we're pretty much in for the duration except my glucose strips. I'll need a trip out one day this week for those.
Be safe, craft when you can and there's always board games and a good book! Hugs! ~Kel

Beautiful creations Shaz. I keep up every post but am commenting to let you know I'm so empathetic about your shoulder pain. I get that ache, it can drive one postal, seriously! Do take care, you are in my prayers. XOX

Hope you get some relief from your shoulder pain. I need a reverse should replacement which I have refused to have as it would rule out crafting for about a year and does not have good recovery odds for regaining full use.

I get a steroid shot once a year or so and am very careful about what motions I do so as not to agrevate it. So, as my injury and arthritis is to do with my rotator cuff, I am wondering if that might help you any.

My pain extends down into my bicep. Sounds like that is what yours is doing too.

I bought an electric die cutting machine and that has really helped. Previous to that, I asked my husband to do any massive cutting work for me!

Pray that you get some relief, Shaz.

PS you look fab in that picture!
