The cards I was making here are a fantastic way to use up your scraps, or maybe it'd be better to call them leftovers, lol. Cards from scraps sounds weird!
Details are in the post below this one. Really quick, easy and uses up stash. A win all round, I'd say. Not my idea, I hasten to add, I got the inspiration from a Jennifer McGuire video. Links to them are in the post, if anyone wants to see them. She does some great cards, and has lots of techniques, and ways to make the most of your stash and products.
The post below that, HERE, has some of the cards I wanted all those snowflakes for.
Okay, now for the mystery photo!
Any guesses as to what this is from?
Maybe the next pic will help.
My trusty Cuttlebug has cut it's last, and gone to the great 'Bug graveyard. To be fair to it, I've had it for about 15 years, so it's done well.
There was an almighty bang as I rolled a die through, and after Beloved Hubby took it apart, one of the sides had snapped clean in half.
Done a bit of research into what's out there, and a Big Shot has gone onto my Christmas Wish list. So, I'll wait and see what Santa brings! I still have my Big Shot Pro, but a smaller machine is useful too, especially as the Pro is way too big
& heavy to move around.
As always, I'll be leaving my link over at Julias place, The Stamping Ground, and visiting later. I'll also post on Instagram, as I've finally opened up an account on there, to post cards to. And who knew there were so many US Majors/Generals who wanted to follow a British cardmaker? lol. I'd just used a pic of me for the profile, they stopped after I swapped it to one of our wedding photos, oddly enough!
Oh, which reminds me, blood test went fine. Back last year, one of the nurses recommended putting one of those warming pads over the area, as the problems much worse when it's cold. So Doug bought me one, it's a wheat bag inside a Penguin soft toy. People in the waiting room must have thought I was quite mad, walking in with a soft toy cuddled in my arm! But it does the trick.
Which brings me to.................And Finally...................
Just a reminder for those in the UK- clocks go back this weekend.
And this is funny because it's so true.😊😊

I bought a cuttlebug before I got my big shot (which is great) and rarely use it any more.. I should get rid, really. the cards look fab, especially the snowflake one.
my desk is even more of a cheat than yours, hope we don't get into trouble with the head girl!! Helen #?
Morning Shaz, RIP Cuttlebug. I sold mine on when I got my Grand Calibre which is also still going well after about 10 years. Love the 'scraps' cards; quick and effective. Enjoy the wedding. Sarah #3
Sorry to hear about your cuttlebug Shaz, you must have really put it through it's paces with those snow flakes :)) I have a Teal Grand Calibur you are most welcome to along with the plates etc.. hardly used. Not sure how much it would cost to post. I use my Big Shot or Big Shot Plus for most of my cutting.
Your cards are fab btw, there's no such thing as a cheat desk.. it's all creativity.

Love your 'scraps' cards must have a look as my scrap box has grown from a 6 x 8 box to a 15 x 12 box. Had to laugh at the clock pic here in Spain we still alter the clocks although there is talk this could be the last time. My oven shows 00.00 as the electric here trips so often and I will try altering the car when I am waiting to pick someone up by March I might have done it. Crafy Ani #12
exactly same story with Cuttlebug here too, and it finished up int he same number of pieces on the worktop! I’ve been a Big Shot user since, it’s definitely more robust. In fact, I’m on my second because workshops and marathons mean I use them too much really! Not any more though, I’m a. Scan and cut gal now. Apparently. Well, I own one.
Lovely selection of cards, Il ove the idea of using up scraps like that, but I dont have the discipline...I look at whole pieces of lovely paper and think the design would be so improved by using that piece instead of this scrap!! Off to a weekend of scrapbooking which means the scrap pile will diminish somewhat, I take pre-matched 12 x12 to photos, but all other papers and effects have to come form existing pattern scraps. It’s a rule. It would be a good rule if I managed to make about a million pages each weekend!! Love the clock instructions...will ta;l to my neighbours......xx
Oh Shaz, poor little Bug! Mine is rolling out lots of sympathy for you. I love my Bug and wouldn’t really have room for a great big Big Shot and anyway I shouldn’t lift heavy things! I hope you get a nice little one for Christmas and at least you’ve got the monster to tide you over in the meantime. I love your use of scraps - I keep seeing fabby ideas on your blog that I want to try when I eventually clear some UFOs and in the process clear my conscience! I love your idea of overlaying die cuts over interesting backgrounds and it’s something I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I keep all the offcut strips in a pizza box and one day will use them for something like this. So glad your bloods were OK. I’ve got my 6-monthly oncology bloods at the surgery tomorrow and they are also doing a general health check. No result yet from my CT scan last week but it’s pretty obvious that I’ve got a hernia again. Love the funny about changing the clocks - I always leave my cooker clock so for half the year it’s an hour out! I’d forgotten about the sundial - what a good idea to move the house over a bit. Given that I’m not supposed to lift heavy things, better get my hubby to take care of that one. One or two clocks always get forgotten! A couple of years ago my hubby was chivvying me or we’d be late for church and as we arrived we could hear them singing so I thought “ooops” and we went in to find that they were actually singing the final hymn and we were just in time for coffee. Everyone thought it was hilarious. In over 30 years of ministry my hubby never missed a service that way and I suppose it had to happen eventually, in retirement! He was mortified, but I just laughed!

Hope Father Christmas brings you what you want .... I would buy it now and then tell a child that it is what they are buying me for Christmas!
Glad the blood test went ok, who cares what folks is thinking .... it does the job!
Take care my friend and have a good week.

Sorry to see you've lost a well used old friend but hopefully Santa will bring you a new one cos I'm sure you've been a good girl this year ;-)
Glad your blood tests went well....I've been for mine this morning and was treated by a real jobs worth! It took her ages and then she made me take my wee sample to the path lab [not a walk I was wanting to do as my sciatica is bad this morning]. She took so long that we then had to pay £3 for parking when normally it's under 1/2 hour and free!
Hugs,
Annie x
Morning Shaz. I still have my Cuttlebug, although I usually use my Gemini these days, or the EBosser or the big dies. Both of those can cope with several layers all at once. I am off now to finish Bec's card too. Have a great day. Maggie #18 xxx
Do you mean that it is easier to get blood when you have had the wheat bag on your arm? I have moving veins so they sometimes have problems, funny I had my second blood test yesterday (first showed anemia) and they have just rung to say I need to see a doctor urgently because of the results of yesterdays??) but it was the usual nurse so there was no problem apart from she couldn't stop it bleeding.
Oh Shaz, I am going to have to buy some dies! Those cards are fabulous and what a lovely idea, they really are so 'jolly' and perfect for Christmas. Now I want some sentiments in nice bold letters. Must look at your post below.
Sorry about the Cuttlebug, dare I say mine is still going strong - I love my CB, especially for embossing folders.
Have a good week - both of you.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx
Hi Shaz, thanks for your return visit - and yes, it was tack-spitting time for Shoshi when those wretched support pants didn't fit!! They really need to sort out their act.
Shoshi x
Ohmy... the clock... you just remind me of the fact that we have to change it in the weekend too. I think I'll take your tips!!! Glad your blood test was allright and I love the cards... should use more of my 'left overs' too, I might make some tiny mini journals to use all those snippets... Happy woyww and a big hug from rather chilly and grey Holland. Marit #19
Lol, love the And Finally today...I do that with my car clock!!! Whata gorgeous card the snowflakes one is, love it!! That's the one I'd buy in the shops. Glad the blood test went ok and I'd have loved to have seen the people's faces when you walked in with a penguin on your arm!
Hugs LLJ 13 xxx
You make the most beautiful cards, Shaz! I really like the snow flake one. I'm thinking of getting the Sidekick for Christmas - I got the Big Shot last year and it was the best Christmas ever. I haven't stopped buying dies LOL - so it's like Christmas all year around! I'm thinking the sidekick would be good to keep on my desk for little dies. At the moment, my Big Shot is on the floor and I have to go on hands and knees to use it and I 'm getting too old to do that LOL! At least I could cut little things on my desk! That's the plan anyway. RIP Cuttlebug. Thanks for your visit earlier! Hope you're having a great week! zsuzsa #20
Oh what a shame about your Bug - I hope Santa get's you a Big Shot for Christmas - don't forget you have to be good from now until then!
I love your snowflake card, it's absolutely stunning and what a beautiful embossing folder for the background - just gorgeous!
Have a great week and so glad the blood test went well. Love the 'And finally' - so very true.
Hugs, Diana x #17
HA ha! Love the putting your clocks back! I actually do wait the 6 months in the car if my hubby doesn't get to it! I love the sundial hint, my neighbors will have my sundial for 6 months!
Love the image of you walking in to the waiting room with the penguin, great idea. I'm sure it will catch on like wildfire - you'll be trending!
So sorry for the demise of your cuttlebug, I kind of saw that coming when I looked at the first pic. I have the Big Shot and it works great, hope Santa brings you one!
The blue and white Christmas card is stunning! Lots of work went into that one! Have a great week, Lindart #28
Hi Shaz, You have been busy producing those lovely cards.
I did chuckle at the Car Clock one, as that's what my dad did:) LOL
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Ooh man that bites that your bug died. YAY for good news on the dr. visit and that is funny on IG. ( you can set your settings to they have to ask to follow you, which is how mine are set because, ds is in the Military)
(and I used to post things about that some random times)
Love the way you are using up all the scraps too Shaz, ~Stacy #25
Hi Shaz (I hope you don't mind the familiarity as I know we have not met, but I feel I know you!)
Tried pretty much all the die cutting machines, fortunately I got a big shot right at the beginning of my crafting and it is still the best (and still going strong!) - I got an A4 one too because they are soooo.. reliable - and I couldn't bear to not get the use out of all those A4 embossing folders. Speaking of embossing folders, I feel I need a small machine just for those, but looking at the choices, most of them have very small apertures. I did wonder about the SNAP machine. Any thoughts please?
Hope you are keeping well.
Love
Maggie (Yorkite) the ONLY Maggie a.k.a. Happenin' Girl.
Love all your cards but those with the snowflakes.... WOW! Love that glitter border!
RIP old Cuttlebug. I now have a Platinum and Platinum 6. Love them both. They're really just renamed Big Shots.
Had a laugh at your Guide. My car resets itself, so nice. LOL!
Have a great rest of the week!

Hi Shaz, I'll be looking at that post for using the leftovers, definitely need to use them up. A Big Shot was the first machine I (well Mr M) bought. In fact, thinking of it, Mr M has bought all the machines I use - he doesn't have to think much about present buying ... just ask what's new out that I "need". Glad to hear your blood test was ok, the penguin warmer sounds perfect! Thanks for stopping by earlier, I will give advance notice when I'm going to take more cards into work - thank you. I agree withbyou, medical profession are amazing! Have a lovely week Heather x #8
Hi Shaz, followed your links to Jennifer's demos yesterday and enjoyed seeing how to use up scraps to make the lovely cards you've created. So sad about your Cuttlebug - I've just given mine a wee pat to let it know how much I appreciate it and hope it will go on for many more years. That sounds like a neat trick with the wheat bag and it got you away from the needle sooner than you thought too. Though it does strike me as counter-intuitive to be heating up a Penguin! Our neighbour does exactly as advised for his car clock ... he argues that it is accurate for half the yea. I'm off to change my photo on Facebook now - I've been getting friend requests from some seriously hot looking US Officers too :) Hugs, Elizabeth x #26
Hi Shaz, oh dear! poor Cuttlebug. Not so long ago this happened to me too. I have bought one of the new fold away Big Shot and it's brilliant. I hardly like to say it but it cuts better than the Cuttlebug with a wider variety of dies. Got mine from Hobbycraft, they are quite a bit cheaper there. Loving the new cards too. Have a good creative week and happy woyww, Angela x11x
ya, that happened to my daughter's cuttlebug. provo craft doesn't do repair parts like big shot does. My husband knows a machinist who made a new part, and my husband put it back together. the awesome thing about the big shot is it is fixable. you can get repair parts from sizzix, often for free.
Yikes on the CB lol, I killed a big shot once! Ah well, what's a crafter to do. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the snowflake card! I mean the others are pretty but that one is stunning! Thanks for the visit! Angie #24
LOVE my big shot, had it for about 15 years too (cuts thin wood/ply, leather, cork tons). LOVE the clock setting too-oddly our oven clock started working again the other day-first time in about 3 years!!!
Off to watch your video links in the previous post as you know I am TRYING to reduce my scrap box so sounds ideal
kyla
Hello, my friend! Well, those are some amazing cards you made with scraps. I need to dedicate some time to use up some of my scraps. I also love the snowflake card. Hope you are feeling well today and have a creative and relaxing weekend! Thanks for stopping by my desk. I am feeling more the need to curl up with a blanket and a book today than to work at my desk. Let's see who wins that battle!
Hugs,
Belinda #29
I recognised the guess what photo! I actually broke the metal piece in half on mine but i had really misused it and had it a long time, bought the later model and hated it, got a big shot and loved it, got given an older cuttlebug and use that alongside the big shot mow. Come here to look at your snowflake cards.
