WOYWW #428

Well, this weeks Desk Of Delights comes to you covered in card fronts & paper! You can catch up on what all of that means over at Julias place, The Stamping Ground.
I said last week that I intended to get some of my UFO's made into cards, and at the very least, most of them are now matted & layered. A few are now completed cards.

These need a sentiment adding, which is why some have a longer piece of backing card.

These, using Honey Doo stamps, need finishing off. I've got the vellum flowers to go on top already cut out.

The scenic card is finished, the Teasels needs a sentiment.

Same here, just waiting for a sentiment to be added.

I was fixing a bracelet the other week, and had so much trouble threading a needle with the elasticated Crystal string. So I did a bit of an internet search, and found these.
The eye is like a needle threader, which will make things so much easier.

Now, I did say I wasn't going to start anything else until I'd cleared my UFO mountain. However, I saw a fabulous card on Facebook, which basically uses a laminator to attach hot foil to stencil paste. So, I got some foil ordered- I'd not got any biggish pieces- and I've done up a batch of stencilled images, ready to give this a go.

This is a handful of the pieces I've done, they need to dry overnight, then I can try it out. I've also since read that hot transfer foil can be applied with a hot iron, so I'll be testing that out too. There should be a post about it towards the weekend.

I'll be really pleased if this works as well as the project I saw, it means my laminator will get some extra work. At the moment it gets used to laminate sheets to store my stamps on, other than that it just sits on the shelf.

Right, I'm done then. Be round to see you all a bit later. And thanks to everyone for the birthday messages, and cards for us both. Much appreciated.
As Doug was working on Monday night, we went out Saturday night for a meal. Did our exchanging of gifts when he got up Monday afternoon.

Oooh, I love laminating! I used to beat people off with a stick if there were any laminating jobs to do at school! So have fun with your experimenting - anything with sparkly in is good in my books :-D. That expression at the end of your post made me hoot - so true!

You've made really good headway on those UFOs, Shaz. I'm intrigued about that hot foil technique. Hope to see more about that next week! Have fun the meanwhile! zsuzsa #29

Hi Shaz, glad you both had a great birthday. I love the Honey Doo stamps! Another thing to add to my shopping list. I really am going to have to set myself a budget for crafting! I have a laminator and foils ! I haven't tried stencilling and foiling. I use a laser printer. Whatever I print that way can be foiled through the laminator. I look forward to seeing the results. Have a lovely week, Heather #30

Hi Shaz, you've done really well tackling those UFOs. I've decided that I'll leave the greetings off for now. That way I can add an appropriate one when it's needed. I don't have a laminator but I'll be interested to hear how you get on with foiling with a hot iron. If it works I could be distracted to try it for myself. I've only now worked out that you and Doug have your birthdays on the same day! I think that must be wonderful, making the day extra special for you both. Hugs, Elizabeth x #28

Hello Shaz!
I really like your teasels. Very pretty. But then all of your cards look quite refined and very well put together. You must have a lot of experience in this area.
I got lucky this week and can join in after all! I am thinking about buying some of your new needles. if they'll bead and are simple to thread, they are what I've been looking for.

Ooh that would be super if it works ( the laminator for foils) because, I think I am doing just the same thing with my laminator as you are. ~Stacy #32

Beautiful cards Shaz - and I am so envious of the scenic ones. You are brilliant at those (not that you are not at any).
Mmmm the laminator sounds good - mine sits too and is only used for the same reason as yours. Look forward to your experiments.

I'm so late, b ut matter not. Hot foil - laminator, crikey, that's intrepid. I have a few rolls of foil that I love to use in small amounts, with a glue pen...will be fascinated to see if the larger whole image amount will work. Certainly a good use of a dusty machine if it does, you'll be off and running, the ideas will be pouring out of you! I don't have a UFO pile like that, how differently we all work...I've got a very large box of scraps, but no images waiting to be worked on at all. What a fab haul of cards you've managed from them too. I guess they crop up when you're experimenting, which is something I rarely do these days.I find increasingly that I like to produce finished 'things'.
