WOYWW #535- The Got Distracted Edition.

I did, I was tidying the desk behind the desk, putting stuff away, and came across a folder with Embossing Folder samples in it. I recall now I thought if I could flick through samples, I'd make more use of them. Shows how well it worked, not only have I failed to keep it up to date, I actually forgot it was even there.
So, I'd cleared away one mess to give me room to make another. As you do. That's actually a tidy version of the mess.

So I used a couple of sizes of tag die to cut from the samples I already had, then die cut some blanks and embossed them with the ones I hadn't added. Divided up into rings roughly equating with the section they're stored under in the box, and now they'll go hang up next to my stencils.

The box is tidy, and almost full, so I need to avoid embossing folders, lol.

So this is the desk behind the desk, finally cleared and cleaned.

Crop Bear looks like he's chilling out, sat on the storage tins.

I did eventually get round to adding some colour to the houses, just need a few tweaks, as I added paths to some, and one now has an extra tree- bottom right- as I forgot what I was doing, and added an inky brush straight to the middle of the pic!

I just used two shades of blue & green DI, and those 'professional make up brushes'. They work great, especially if you only want a light patch of colour, although you can deepen it by adding more layers, and darker colours.
A feeble attempt at enabling this week I'm afraid. I got a £5 birthday voucher code from Hobbycrafts, and as I didn't want to get Doug to take us over there, I used it online. I wanted some fancy felt- I have an idea for some Christmas cards- so got the three you can see with the snowflakes on, a while glittery one and a couple of sheets of plain white. All A4 size. What annoyed me when they arrived- they were folded in half, and the bundle, a total of 6 sheets could have fit into an A4 envelope, easily. But no, it comes in a box around 12" long,6" deep and
wide! As I say, they were folded in half, and the rest of the box full of those blasted plastic air filled pillows. An e-mail was sent, lol. Not that I expect any notice to be taken.
In other news, saw my Oncologist on Monday, and we'll be restarting the chemo next Thursday (12th), he did say Friday, but I got a call saying they had a free space on Thursday, if I wanted it. I wonder if they have a problem with superstitious people?
OK, I'm all done, leave your link at Julias place, The Stamping Ground, and I'll be round to visit later.
Which just leaves.....And Finally.......

Good idea regarding the embossing folders Shaz. At least tag sized can be held together with book rings and hung up where you can see them lol. Hope the chemo isn't too rough next week. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

I think tags are a great way of cataloguing things. I have a folder (started at CHA once in a class with Marje Kemper) especially for tags showing different techniques with DI's. On the reverse I have written what the technique is and how to do it etc. Needless to say I have not added to it that much, intended to do so with the Oxides but ...
Well good luck with the oncologist next week, hope the treatment goes well for you.
Hope you don't ind my asking but did you get my birthday card, just wondering as I hate cards to go missing.
Hugs, Neet 7 xx

Firstly the 'and finally'....I managed to find a get out clause in the small writing and I'm out....I'm not going back there cos I didn't like it much.
Really hope the next course of treatment goes well Shaz...I will be sending you lots of positive vibes from sunny Scotland [well I can be hopeful eh?].

Hi Shaz, that looks like a good idea with the embossing folders. I have loads but don't use them very often probably because I forget what I've got. Silly me! I have noticed recently that lots of stuff seems to come in oversized boxes, maybe they are worried about it getting lost so make it bigger. I do hope that the next lot of treatment goes well though I'm sure it will. Sending best wishes for a very happy woyww, Angela x11x

I definitely know about getting distracted! I do love your colored houses and those make up brushes. I actually purchased a set for myself and they sit in a glass on my desk waiting for me to actually use them. Sigh...it is what it is. I'm just a lazy crafter lately!

Oh my, that is a lot of embossing folders! I guess, when you have as much stuff as you do, you do need to keep track of them. That's something I have to work on! Annoying about the packaging - once I received a 12X12" stencil in a HUGE box from Amazon. At least it wasn't folded LOL. I'm not very superstitious but I'd rather stay home on Friday the 13th! No choice though - it will be a work day for me - I'll just be very careful! Love the colouring you did on the houses! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #18

Oh Shaz that “and finally”... had me laughing out long and loud well and truly!
Also love your definition of tidying as it’s definitely akin to mine, though mine is not as organised as yours. Loving your inkiness needing to do some of that, suspect tis no time soon, though ..l bit like tidying.
Great to hear you’re crafting though as means yet feeling up to it, praying fir chemo tomorrow.. may the Lord bless and undertake with effective and no side affects. No harm in asking for the lot! James verse says ye have not because ye ask not, so I’m asking.. and praying fir mercy. Xxx
Sending giant prayer hugs. Shaz. X #20 🤔

The And Finally had me smiling - growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional is another fav of mine...I'm never going to grow up, in fact am mentally regressing!! That felt is rather funky but yes, the packaging was bonkers, I'd have emailed too! The lost embossing folder made me hoot (sorry) I no longer keep things just in case, they get used there and then or get binned. Good luck with the chemo, you of all people wouldn't have minded Friday 13th, lol!

That's an awful lot of embossing folders, Shaz. I may have as many but I'm not going to go down that rabbit hole today - no time! Your colouring of the houses is just beautiful. The felt is lovely - looking forward to seeing what your idea is. I take your point about packaging. I received an album this week and the EM's face paled significantly when he spotted the mahoosive box it was delivered in because he didn't think, even after flattening, that it would fit in our paper/cardboard bin. Enjoyed the funny - am I too late to cancel my subscription. Have a fab week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #21

Love the houses! Please share the finished cards. The felt company went to the same school of packaging as our Home Shopping company (HSN). Has the hubby nervous when one arrives! Finally started opening them in front of him!

Happy Wednesday!

What a fantastic way of organising your embossing folders - love those tags. The houses are gorgeous! And can I just say following your comment on my blog, that I cannot believe you are old enough to have a son my age! Hope the chemo is better this time round. Take care of yourself. Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#12)

That's a LOT of embossing folders! Great organizing! Love your cleaned desk... that'll be a chore soon for me.
I love your coloring. I need to practice with my brushes more.
Looking forward to what you do with the felt.

I used to cut samples of my dies which worked well but then I slipped from doing it. Now I have to tip everything out when I need one. Good luck with your chemo sessions.

Hi Shaz, that looks so smart that pile of textured tags. ( I don't hardly use but a handful of my folders either) and I have found that over the the only "cheat sheet" I ever refer to is my book of ink swatches. I really do not use anything else. the rest of it comes from the mental thing of looking at the online inventory. but, the texture of those tags looks to me like, I'd spend more time running my fingers over them than using them so, I am on embossing folders restriction buying too :)
I didn't even notice the dates, I just thought oh, sooner is better right? ( so, this can be behind you)

What a great way to organize your embossing folders, you really are the Queen of organizing - that's another good idea of yours I think I might steal in the future! I love the little houses, they are so cute and the shading is fab with those make up brushes. Good luck with the chemo, I hope it all goes well for you next week.

Chemo at 80% sounds sensible, hope you can tolerate that and it wont spin it out too much....I will await your well being notes fingers crossed dear gal. Meanwhile, I was in my car, waiting for the kids to catch me up at Costco (I had an exciting day) when I first read your post and how I laughed out loud at your embossing folder comment. Need to stay away.....!! The tag book looks wonderful, but I wouldn’t have remembered doing it either...I just flick through my huge box full each time. I think I’d end up using the tags if I was in a hurry for a nice background to mount something on!! Shocking. I need to stay away from the Crafters Companion 3d embossing folders. I’ve got 3 now and I’ve sort of decided that the design is slightly disproportionate to any card size I use, and they take a bespoke sandwich in the Big SHot which is a pain, and once I’ve done one thing with them, that’s it. They tend to be scenic and not backgrounds. Watch me stay away!! Will I ever learn. Too late now. Your coloured in paths and anchoring the houses to the page has been a great success, you’re a clever colourer I must say. Good sit still stuff for you too.

Hi Shaz.
Your desk looks beautiful now - so well organised. The tag reference library was a genius idea - it's so easy to forget what you already have when it's tidily stored away!
Hope all goes well for you in the next phase of chemo.

Hey Shaz! I remember saying I would make samples of my embossing folders so I would use them too and I never did. I wanted to make them for the same reason as you so I would use them. Many of mine are buried in my craft closet in a cute container. I think I will lift your idea of using tags to make my samples. Thanks for the reminder. The reminder to make something to help me use my stuff!! ha ha I'll let you know how long my procrastination will prevent me this time.
Thanks for the visit. I'm off to snoop at our friend's desks.
Have a blessed day and I am sending healing your way.

A lovely array of tags there Shaz - such a good feeing when a bit of organising is done (I don't get that feeling too often!) Good luck with your chemo - hope it goes well and isn't too hard on you. Thinking of you both. xx Jo
