WOYWW #458

Hi folks, and to be truthful, it's a totally empty desk this week. A pic of the Mothers Day cards, and that's it.

The reason being, as those I know on FB are aware, I've had a really rotten weekend.  Started getting short of breath on Friday, and that got worse Saturday.

On Sunday, Ant cooked lunch for me & Becks Mum, Marg, for Mothers Day.
Bit later in the day the breathing was getting harder, had to call 111. They gave me some meds and a nebuliser. Helped for a while, then later that evening, I had a short coughing attack, and then could not get my breath at all. Doug had to call an ambulance, and I got taken down to A&E. Checked over, all seemed fine, given steroids and sent home.
Went to see my GP on Mon afternoon, and he wasn't happy with how breathless I was, and sent me back to hospital to be re assessed for a possible blood clot. They took a blood test, and said if they decided it needed a CT scan, I'd get a call Tuesday am.
Which I got, and have been and had a scan. No sign of a blood clot, which is good, it seems it's just a bad flare up of the COPD.  Never had one ever since I was diagnosed. So, new inhalers, more steroids and other meds to take, and they say it should start to improve.
Silly thing is it came out of nowhere. Up until Friday I was totally fine. I think it's more to do with the cold I picked up last week, thats making it harder to breathe as my head gets bunged up.
So that's how it is right now, crafting will be all that's happening for the next week I expect, as I've been told to take it easy. Which isn't hard, if I walk 10 feet I'm out of breath! Just wanted to put everyone in the picture.
 And finally..................

Kept in touch via FB - so glad it was nothing more serious. Through a clot scare that they diagnosed my heart problem so some times good things come from these happenings.
Stay safe and take it easy - guess you cannot do anything else at the moment. Get well.
Hugs, Neet 7 xx

Happy WOYWW. Glad you could join us and that you are safely at home. I will be doing lots of crafting this coming week too, in order to distract myself from pain and get some rest. We have booked the flights for our next visit to Spain at the end of April, so that is something to look forward to. Ali x #12

God, Shaz, that was scary. Hope you are feeling a bit improved on the new meds as each day passes. You must keep things to a minimum of effort Gal, I strongly recommend nothing but sitting in a chair all day, with gentle arm movements. Crafting then! Your Mothers Day cards were lovely.

Gosh how frightening that must have been for you - I'm sorry to hear you've had such a tough time, but glad it wasn't a clot. I hope you keep getting better and stronger each day and as Julia says, gentle crafting is prescribed!
Beautiful Mother's Day cards by the way!

Ooh I hope those new meds have kicked in and you are feeling better Shaz, as you read this. I think that people who have that who get colds have a harder time with it all. so, that is great it was not a blood clot. (( HUGS )) I like the layers of texture on the Mothers day cards too. ~Stacy #28

WOW! What a horrible thing to happen! I have asthma and not being able to get air in scares me half to death. I am glad to hear it was COPD flareup and not a blood clot too! Hope you are better soon. The cards turned out really nice. I bet the Moms were really happy to get them. Have a great week and get to feeling better! Vickie #34

Hi Shaz, sorry to hear about your problems as if you've not had enough. Hope you're feeling better soon. You asked me about the hare/rabbit stamp it was one of the free stamps that comes with the Craft Stamper and can't remember which company made it so it could easily be the make you mentioned. Thanks for the visit to mine, have a lovely woyww and happy crafty week, Angela x9x

Glad you are feeling a bit better Shaz. Thanks lots for the offer of checking out Ikea. Max made a mad dash to WEdnesbury and managed to get a few of each this week So, no great rush but, as you say, if you are out and about we would be grateful. I love the cartoon - I would have said not me - never, but I managed to forget an evening out with friends last week!! Hope it's a sign of being too busy rather than old age setting in - lol. xxxJo

I'm so sorry that you had a bad turn, so scary. Glad you are feeling better. I have asthma, and I am so careful with catching colds etc, I am over diligent, bed immediately, etc etc. but I don't want that asthma attack that the cold could trigger. I was close at Christmas, I kept a diligent eye on my Peak Flow meter, and if it had gotten into he red (which thankfully it didn't) I would have been to the hospital in a shot. Glad you recovered, hopefully it won't happen again. Your Mother's Day cards are lovely! Have a "breathe easy" week! Lindart #32

Hey Shaz!

Heard you were under the weather. Wanted to check in. I watch my sister deal with COPD. I feel for you. One thing that helps the breathing I learned from my mom - Hot Liquids. The help open the bronchial tubes. Kick back, relax and ask Doug to fix you a hot cuppa of your favorite beverage and keep them coming ;-) Sending healing blessings your way. Kelly - aka Rainlyte

Aimeslee Winans said...

I will second the hot liquids. I don't have it knockwood but friends do. And even one friend who will slice up a raw white sweet onion and eat chunks of it until her nose is running but she can breathe better. xoxo

Oh Shaz, I'm so sorry to hear you've been so poorly. I didn't know you had COPD - too much on top of everything else, you poor thing. I do hope you are now feeling better and a bit less breathless. That must have been an extremely scary experience for you. Sending you both lots of love, and thinking of you loads.

Your funny gave me a wry smile today - that's the story of my life these days! I had a pile of redundant stoma stuff to take to the Ileostomy meeting today - it had been hanging around for months as I haven't managed a meeting for ages, and a few weeks ago I "tidied it away" and today, could I find it? So I went without it. Grrr. It will probably turn up tomorrow. Then I couldn't find the CD of the music we played at Mum's funeral - I needed it for my mystery project. Found it in the end but what a humungous waste of time. I can never find anything these days!!!

Thank you for your lovely comment. We are meeting the recipient of the mystery project on Monday (snow permitting) so hopefully it will be finished in the nick of time! Too tired after the meeting today to do anything but I've got tomorrow. Then the big reveal!

Unless I get postponed, only 10 days till my operation now. I just want it done now so I'll be better in time to enjoy the summer.

Happy belated WOYWW and do take care of yourself - you're too precious not to.
