WOYWW #418

OK, I'm back after a weeks absence, due to our Internet connection going down on Tuesday. After many phone calls, they decided we needed an engineer, who was booked for the FOLLOWING Tuesday! A whole week to get an engineer out. Anyway, by Thursday Doug had had enough- I was going slightly crazy as it was, but he couldn't game at all! He got on the phone to someone else, they did another bunch of tests on the line & box, and it seemed that the box was the fault. Then he remembered our DIL's Mom, Marg Silvercrafter, had told him a while back that Virgin had sent her a second modem by mistake, and she was waiting for them to get it collected. Anyway, a quick call later confirmed that she still had it, and knew exactly where it was. We fetched it, and Bingo! Back on the net. I've never been so glad to see Google. Lol. The upside was that two days without internet got some crafting done, and I'll be posting that up later in the week. But for now, here are all the lovely ATC's I've received off WOYWWers for this years swap.

Some lovely cards arrived with a few of them- Jan, Margaret, Lynne & Ali. And one had a gorgeous hand made little wallet.
Kyla sent some happy mail goodies with hers, and a lovely Bee card from Sandra De.
A very pretty card from Lisa M, a gorgeous one, which I'm guessing is Distress Oxides, from Angela, and as usual, a fab card & verse from Annie, Wipso. Hers & Jo's ATC, are so tactile, love Jo's felting.

Loving them all very much ladies, so Thank You to everyone for taking the trouble to swap with me.

I've added names to them all, I though they were a bit clearer than this, but if you click on the pics, they'll enlarge, and you'll be able to see the names. So, lots more desks to see over at Julias place, The Stamping Ground, so I'll let you go.

Once I'm sure all mine have arrived, I'll do a blog post on them too.

I've also managed to grab a cold from somewhere, but it seems to be going now.
I did have an appointment in the end to see the Oncologist, but really we don't know a great deal more. He did say there was something, and it had been there since the scan I had back last Feb/March at the QE. He wants a Doc at the QE to have a look and see if he thinks a bout of targeted Radiotherapy might be a good idea, and I've since had a call from his secretary to say the QE want an up to date MRI, so now I have to wait for that appointment.Whatever it is, it didn't show up as 'active' on the PET scan I had in August, so it most likely isn't anything important, which is probably why they aren't rushing about over it.
Ok, I'm done, I think I'll just leave you with this thought for the day.

You got some wonderful ATCs, Shaz. All so different, too.

So glad you didn't have to pay for a new modem. I may have to get a new one soon, since I've had mine since 1995. My internet provider is shocked I still have it working.

I hope whatever they found in the scan is nothing to worry about. I'm glad you are confident and not worried, because that is half the battle. Happy WOYWW from #5.

Glad to see you back. If I hadn't seen your Facebook posts about the internet I would have been really concerned when you missed last week. Thank you for your gorgeous ATC it takes pride of place on my wall as you can see from this week's post. You have a fabulous collection, they are all so unique! Sorry to hear you are not entirely clear on the scan front. Hope the MRI will clarify things in a positive way. Happy WOYWW Sarah #8

Hooray for being back on the Interwebs....you were missed! That's good news too about your appts, if they were really worried, you'd be in by now. I bet you've been crafting away during the web blackout, there's always a silver lining huh?!

Ooh that's a long time without internet.....I bet Doug was NOT happy! Glad goodies arrived (playing with hubbies shaving foam and inks!) and yes I agree the hospital would have had you in smartish if it was bad but good luck anyhow. Xx

Sharing our crafty love around the globe is one of our best times - so many clever crafters out there and all made with that same love - we need to spread it round the globe ever more so. Good luck with your follow-ups - it sounds positive Shaz or I am sure they would have wanted you in. Just resting my Frankenstein face today - trying not to laugh - always hard for me!! xx Jo

I know exactly how you feel about the internet, Shaz, or the lack of it. It has become part of our lives so much that we all find it difficult to live without it. I can only manage one or two days as well. Lucky you got it going again! Loving all those cards and ATCs! Shame I've missed the swap this year, but I'll be up for it next year. That little wisecrack at the end had me LOL! Have a lovely week! zsuzsa #28

Sending you all the hope and best for the scan... when you eventually get it done! As you say, they aren't rushing or in a panic, so best not to worry and fret over something the doctors aren't worrying over.
Love your collection of ATCs and cards - loving the bee card from Sandra :)
So, both out internet access was restricted last week - and both with Virgin too lol. I think a lot of our problem here had to do with the thunder and lightning storms we had... but I like storms so I'm not complaining too much lol

Have a great Wednes-YAY!

All the ATC's are fabulous, you've got a great collection there, isn't that bee stunning. I would definitely be going round the bend without the internet for so long - I don't know what my routine was before we had the computer, somehow I got through the day without checking emails, editing photos and shopping on line, but I don't know what I did instead!!
Have a good week and I hope you get your appointments sorted, I'm sure they would move quicker if they were worried,

Love the quote!! Sorry you have a cold, hope you feel better soon. Isn't it funny how we managed to go through most of our lives without the internet, and now just a few days without it drives us crazy! I get very "antsy" when I don't have the internet even for a few hours! However did we manage before! But because of the internet we now have all of these wonderful friends all over the planet, so I would not want to give it up! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #41

Dear Shaz
not sure if you do DIGI stamps, but here's a heads up, have a look at KennyK stamps who are stopping on 20 June. I think their designs may well appeal to you, (and Mr Silvercrafter!)- and if nothing else, it's nice to look at the pictures!
Love

I think that wait for internet help is universal. I also wonder if they really are engineers or just have a title.
Do hope all the test turn out with good news.
have a great week. Cats on lock-down as we attempt for a second day to see the vet to get nails clipped.

Well you put a funny like that at the end of your post and I forget what I was going to say! Ha!
Your internet issue was treated very badly, blimey. Mind you, a week without access and my house would be spotless..taxes done, redecorated, garden land escaped..you name it!! Can't believe I managed to send out so many ATCs without you getting one, forgive me do...frankly, you missed nothing, except a greeting to hope you have a great day. And I wish you that every day!

It's so frustrating when you don't have internet isn't it. I had to laugh, your house sounds like ours, if hubby can't game at night, there would be serious trouble here too!!!! I always say I'm like a computer sandwich between one gaming all night and the other chatting to her mates. I just sit and craft so it's ok really...most of the time, lol.
Glad you got your appointment sorted and will keep my fingers crossed that it all turns out fine.
Thanks for popping by earlier

Sorry to hear about your internet woes, Shaz, but very pleased you found a work-around and you are now back in action! I remember when ours was down, and how desperate I immediately felt, like an addict suddenly deprived of a much-needed fix, and brought myself up short, saying that in pre-internet days I always found something to do, so what was the difference? I did feel awfully cut off from everyone, though! Then our lovely neighbour opposite gave me the password to her connection and said we were welcome to use it if it would stretch across the street - which it did, more or less! We had to wait over a week before it was fixed, too - new modem.

Lovely collection of ATCs. I was sorry not to be able to take part but I've been so behind with everything lately and had absolutely no studio time at all.

A somewhat unsatisfactory result for you health-wise - so much better to have cut and dried answers, but at least they don't seem overly concerned, which must put your mind at rest somewhat. People don't realise the ongoing underlying anxiety people who have had cancer experience - it's always in the back of your mind. We talk about this a lot in our group. Hoping for definite, and satisfactory news for you in due course! At least they are keeping a close eye on you, and that does a lot for one's self-confidence, doesn't it.

Thank you for your lovely comment - yes, I am OK. I've got another appointment with my surgeon in Aug. but I think he will vote to leave Kermit alone since I haven't got a hernia proper, and I am now wearing support garments. I've got another CT scan lined up soon to check my chest for cancer, which they didn't do with the recent one which was just of my abdomen to see if the hernia had returned. Back through the Stargate!!

I've just updated my blog with what I've done with the hand-made paper. A work in progress but so far I'm really pleased.

Happy belated WOYWW,

That is horrible being without the nets! I think a couple days without here would have me going nuts cause hubby spends a lot of time with his work and I would just hear him complaining constantly. Taught him the advantages of the iPhone hot spot. Love the ATC you sent! I will take a picture and get it on the post next week. Love all the ATC you have received. Mine will be on its way in the next few days! Hope you have a great week. Thanks for stopping by my desk! Vickie #43
