WOYWW #410

Another WOYWW, courtesy of Julia at The Stamping Ground. So what IS on my workdesk? Well, a batch of cards made with the Mixed Media dies, that are blogged below.

Also, a visit to our local craft store yielded these Teasel stamps from Woodware, as well as a couple of Tim Holtz layering stencils I forgot to photograph!

Quite large stamps, so should make a good stamped image, I hope.

A walk through town yesterday, and a visit to Poundland to get some more foam tape.

A roll of tape, and 10 sheets of 25 square foam pads for a quid is a great buy.

There were also ear rings on my desk earlier, from a few days ago.

I had to repair a pair which had separated from the posts, and as I'd been having problems when wearing them, I came to the conclusion they were not nickel free, so ordered some new posts. Which came in a pack of 100. As I only needed to repair two pairs, that left me with 48 pairs going idle. Thats the two sets of square glass stones on the left.

So I had a bit of a shopping expedition on Google, and bought a bunch of flatback semi precious stones, and made another dozen or so pairs. As most of the stones cost me between 30p and 85p each, it was a cheap batch.

Well thats me done, fairly short & sweet this week. Happy Wednesday folks, and see you later.

Those teasel stamps look fabulous. I've just treated myself to the latest mini layering stencils from Tim Holtz. I shall get the large ones too eventually, but not until next month. Sounds like you had a bargain with the stones for the earrings. Happy WOYWW Sarah #8

Ooooh, those teasel stamps are lush!! They take me back to my childhood when my mum always had a big vase full of dried flowers with lots of teasels in them. If you're walking to Poundland, that sounds to me as if your progress post-op is doing really well...gotta catch up with you soon, probably next week as I've got a houseful for the next few days.
Sending hugs to you and Doug,

Couldn't resist coming back... I just LOVE the idea that you thought I might have a loo seat sitting on my desk. Made me look again at the photo - hmm! - does have a certain resemblance, doesn't it??!! Should have taken the pic at a different angle maybe, me thinks. But then, if I had done that, I wouldn't have started your day with such a laugh...

Another who loves the teasel stamps. There's a big clump of them growing close to where I park my car when I'm picking my boy up from work. I'm waiting for the light to be right so that I can take a silhouette of them. Look forward to seeing what you do with the images.

Hi Shaz
Quite amazing how supplies multiply when all you wanted to do was repair. You should be busy this week just using some of your new stash! Thanks for visiting

Well i passed over those teasel stamps, so no doubt I'll regret it once you get going! I love the idea of 50 new pairs of earrings, specially if it was born out of a genuine need like freeing yourself of the nickel. Works for me!!

Your cards look lovely, Shaz, and I love the teasel stamp too. I get a bad reaction to nickel too which means I have quite a few pairs of ear rings, bought because they looked lovely, tucked away unworn. I'm so impressed with the 48 pairs you've made - a pair to go with every outfit. Have a great holiday weekend. Hugs, Elizabeth x #27

Great repair and make session with the ear rings. Tuesday I went into town with an ear ring from my son that had lost it's back piece. They are so tiny making them very fiddly to put in. Hadn't worn them for a couple of weeks and when `i came to them only one had the back thing.
Went in the jewellers and told the girl and she went to get something to see what carat of gold tey were - then I saw it - the back was still on! Doh! Did I feel a ninny. Not my week eh?
Love the cards at the top, especially the black one - gorgeous.
Sorry I am so late, visitor got i the way of commenting yesterday and I was flat out trying to do my journal post for today in the evening. Apologies.
Happy Easter to both of you - see you soon

busy looking desk...I had never heard of teasels so had to go look that up...we don't have them here. Wiki says that there are teasel combs and they kind of look like one of our thistle weeds but they don't dry to a hard head...Interesting what you learn on WOYWW! Love all the earring sets too. Nice going. Have a happy holiday and I great week. Vickie #38
