Thats a scary sight right there. I decided my desk needed a clean- ink and what have you splashed everywhere. I have some Isopropyl Alcohol-replaces Blending Solution, and is way cheaper- and it's great for cleaning away ink too.
Back to normal a bit later, nice and clean surface to work on, if nothing else.
So, a page from a magazine, with a Christmas Card made with a bauble stencil.Behind that, some Baubles cut from copy paper, to do my own version with.
There were more Christmas cards made this week, in the previous posts. One using Tim Holtz Mixed Media dies, which I CASE'd from Pinterest. Well, I pin so much 'inspiration', it's about time I actually used some of them.
Also, in the post below, a piece about the cheap dies from China. I ordered a few, based on the fact that the first one worked Ok, so theres a write up on them, for anyone who was curious about them. Includes a link to the page on E Bay.
Finally, some goodies from last week free with magazines. I have to say that I rarely buy cardmaking/papercrafting mags, but I have taken to browsing each month to see if the Freebies are worth having.
This week there were 3, Making Cards with a book of backing papers, Papercraft Inspirations, which has the fab Merry Christmas Embossing Folder, and a third which I've forgotten that had the Birch Trees Embossing Folder and stamps.
See, I'm being reasonably well behaved in the enabling department this week. Unless you go look at the cards, of course! Don't forget to leave your link at Julias place, The Stamping Ground, and we'll all come visit, and maybe be enabled a little.
And one last item for you, I saw it on Facebook the other day. Mikeys fiancee KT has been doing a bit of sewing, and her Dad posted this for her to read. I thought it might give our sewers a giggle.

that piece could be written for any crafter.. eek, I would be hopeless!! love your tidy clean desk, all ready to mess up again. Happy WOYWW Helen #??
Love the clean look, and the array of dies you have shown us but i think the sewing bit takes centre stage - brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx
Thank you for giving me a **chuckle** to start the day - that sewing piece is fab.
Lovely clean desk Shaz - I would need to "find" mine before I could clean it LOL
Have a fabulous week.

I've seen that 'advice for sewers' before...of course I stick rigidly to the letter...
Bwahahahahahahahaha.......
That first shot of you desk got me a bit worried but it soon all returned to normality. Phew!
Hugs, LLJ 3 xxx
The magazine is Papercraft essentials and yes, I fell for it as well as Simply Cards (embossed door). I could see some of those free gifts working all year round.
I read your review of the dies - very thought provoking, thank you for the link.
Fell about laughing ref the sewing tip .... not in this house!!
Have a good week, lots of laughs

Hair done and dress in order for me and I'm head down making my next 3 ordered Christmas stockings.....oops how will I cope as I have no chalk for my hands? :-) :-)
Hugs,

Well obviously those hints don't apply to paper crafters as I have my joggers on ready to go to aquafit, no makeup and barely brushed my hair this morning. Although I love to craft and make the place really messy, I do love a clear and clean desk. It's just not as depressing as facing a pile of stuff!!! Don't win that battle very often though. Great freebies - yes, only reason I buy mags these days, they are really expensive unless you get a good freebie!! Happy WOYWW Cindy #23
Yep, my desk's super tidy this morning too .. all the better to make a mess then!

Love the advice manual, naturally I abide by this at all times Lol! and used to advise my students to do the same....... I don't think so Lol! The desk looks nice and clean but not sure I could cope with that for long so relieved when you covered it with stuff! Have a great woyww and thanks for the visit to mine, Angela x 16
ROFL at the sewing machine info. I'd never get any crafting completed! Your desk is bright white, are you sure you had inks and paint splattered there? Can't wait to see what you do with your bauble paper. I love the embossing folder and those butterflies that you got from China (in your previous post). Happy Wednesday, LisaDV #26
Sometimes you just need a clean up and doesn't it feel good. I really liked your piece on dies from China. I must admit I hadn't really looked for them before as I tend to use a small range of reasonably priced online shops. However, I'll certainly keep an eye out in future; bargains to be had! Sarah #31
Hi Shaz,
It's so nice to be at your house today, am impressed with your clean desk, I must confess mine could do with such a clean up.
I'm fascinated by your use of Chinese dies. Do you have an A4 machine or just a smaller manual one like a big shot, or bug?? I will check out your links. Love you mag freebies. We can get some here, I found Sawtell village has a super old fashioned newsagent that has some. They're Aussie ones but have good freebies too.
Had a chuckle over the Singer advice, make up on , indeed ... whilst sewing. :D thanks again for sharing all your lovely stash.
The butterfly card on post below my WOYWW post used some of your Stick on daisies ... :D
Happy WOYWW!!

Oh dear, can't get over those gorgeous dies! I feel like most of mine are so basic. I need some fancy ones for sure. Happy Wednesday. Sandy Leigh #30
Love the bauble stencil. Colours are gorgeous. Sometimes the goodies that come with the magazines are well-worth the cost of the mag. I have to admit that my suitcase contained several magazines (which could account for the additional weight).
I'm off to read your review of the dies.
Have a great week

great looking desk. Keep away from any cutting mat with the alcohol though cause it will remove the grid lines and bubble up the self healing layer! I learned that the hard way by dumping a bottle over as I cleaned my desk of glue one day! Love the old helpful housewives item…I forget the house etc and just craft!. Thanks for visiting my desk earlier. Vickie #4
Hi Shaz, I love your very clean and tidy desk, but also nice to see i8t with projects waiting to be done.
I only buy mags when the freebies are worth it. Looks like you have some fab freebies there.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Happy WOYWW

Happy WOYWW. I have got a thing about circles at the moment, so love the bauble designs. Your clean desk reminds me that I need to wipe my craft mat after playing with the inks. I ran out of energy afterwards. Ali x #33
Hi Shaz! Well done for the big clean up! I must admit to checking out magazines too! Sorry not to have been around much - just took on too much and had no time for blog visits! Thanks for visiting - looking forward to Port Sunny! Hugs, Chrisx
You can't beat a good freebie! Those stamps alone are definitely worth buying the magazines for. This is where The Craft Stamper went wrong, I think - now they only have free stamps with every second issue and they are mainly simple doodles that anyone can easily draw by hand. I still like the magazine, but I think they may have lost a lot of subscribers because of this. The sewing advice made me smile - I'm so the opposite! Thanks for visiting earlier, Shaz! Have a happy week! zsuzsa #24
That advice is pretty good and can be applied to just about any task that requires a bit of concentration. Your desk cleaned up nicely! And the dies look like fun! I did get my projects from my messy desk done before heading out to visit, what a relief! Thanks for the visit and hope you have a wonderful week!!!

Lovely clean desk, Shaz! Some nice projects lined up too. I love the piece about the sewing! The trouble is, if I am good and do my chores before going in the studio, I'm usually too knackered to do anything!!
Happy WOYWW,

I use baby wipes, alcohol free to clean my desk top. Glue and ink comes right off. I'm going to check out the dies this weekend. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great WOYWW week!
Hugs

Oh, what a perfectly clean desk. If only mine was only covered in ink and not paint and glue and whatever else. At least mine's black and you can't see most of it. I think a white one would set me crazy! Looks like you got quite a few goodies from the magazines. I think it's probably best that I stay away from the magazine racks for a little while!
Hi Shaz,
Thanks for stopping by earlier, I am just getting around to my rounds.I am so jealous of your clean desk. I am cleaning up my craft room, so far it's been a weeks process! cheers, donna #8
Oh boy! I'm going to have to look up those budget dies on ebay! I desperately need those snowflake ones! I really do!
Survived the dentist although the numbness took ages to go and then I had to go sort an oil leak from car, really didn't need that when all I wanted to do was sleep! Where do you get your blending solution alternative from, makes for a nice shiny desk. Thanks for visiting me BJ #21
Learned a new word today - Lackadaisically - and had to look it up for translation to Dutch and I like the meaning of it ;o)
And indeed the sewing post made me smile too.
Found your blog a few months ago and I really enjoy reading it.
Oh my... a giggle indeed over the 'sewing text'... "never try to sew/artjournal/create with a sink full of dirty dishes or beds unmade..." really??? Ooooh, I'm such a bad housewife ;) Big hug from HOlland, Marit #20 (P.S. enjoy creating, never mind the dishes... a healthy mind is better than clean dishes!)
very intricate dies, I'm sure if it were a well known brand you also would have problems cutting it, have a nice weekend, Vicky
