WOYWW #280

Morning all, and yet another Wednesday is here. Scary how fast this year is vanishing, isn't it? This is my desk shot for the week, joining up with our (freshly holidayed) Julia at The Stamping Ground.
Still plodding along with the Christmas cards, I've trimmed all the stencilled toppers now, trees, Noels and some baubles. Next up will be some stamped ones, using the tree stamp, from Inkylicious, just about visible on the right.
By the way, the stencils I've been using are all Dreamweaver ones.
One thing I have done, is quickly go over the top of them with a stiff stencil brush, or a toothbrush, which removed any loose glitter. So should be less shedding when I make them up. I do sparkle quite nicely though!
And an update on the Gold embossing paste- don't know whether it was the daylight in my room, or my eyesight, but the new pot turned up this week, and it dries out exactly the same, and they both now look like gold! Go figure.

A card I made last week, for my Beloved Hubby, as last Friday was our 5th Wedding Anniversary.
The hearts are a Visible Image stamp, the one stamped and heat embossed in silver also had a little silver glitter added. The words are a stamp from Inkylicious. I added various red shades with a colour duster brush, and by swirling a darker red over the hearts, I achieved a nice shadow effect.

I managed to pick up a chest infection last week- started Wednesday with a bit of a sore throat, that had gone Thursday, and it felt like I was getting a stinking cold, or flu. Unfortunately, that really went downhill on Thursday night, and I ended up having a couple of asthma attacks in the night. Never, ever had one before, and I don't think I've ever known anything so scary. Ended up at the docs on Friday morning, he put me on a nebuliser in the surgery, as I was struggling to breathe, and I have antibiotics, a course of steroids I finished this morning, and an inhaler. So we didn't go anywhere over the weekend, Hubby had intended us to have a day around Stratford, but as I couldn't walk the length of the room without gasping for breath, that didn't happen.Seems to be clearing up now, fortunately, as next Tuesday I'm due to start my Chemo/radiotherapy. At least it happened before that, rather than during.Went for blood tests on Monday, ready for the start, and on Wednesday I have to go see the Occupational Health Nurse at work, prior to starting back, which I intend to do on the 27th, just doing half shifts for a couple of weeks to see how it goes. Just a case of trial and error, really, as I have no idea how I'm going to feel once the chemo/radio starts.I shall make adjustments if necessary- doing less, or even being signed off again, if its too much. We shall see.

Finally, a cause for some celebration. My youngest son, Mikey and his girlfriend, KT announced they are engaged! Apparently, they got engaged on 14th August (our Birthday), but have only just told everyone.
This pic was taken when they were having a day around the Bull Ring Centre in Birmingham, Mikey is the one on the right- wonder who he gets his dress style from? The guy in the pic was some promo thing going on. And yes, that's the closest Mikey ever gets to smiling in a photo, lol.

I would dearly love to go to the Hobbycrafts at the NEC in November, 6th -9th, which is in four weeks, but I shall wait till closer to make a definite decision on that, again depending how I feel. It may be a 'decide on the day' sort of thing.
And one final AAARRRGH! Slipknot and Korn have announced they will be touring in January, they will be in Birmingham at the end of January, (27th) and we can't book tickets!  My main surgery should be at the beginning of the new year,so have no idea what the date will be, or how I will be by the end of the month. But short of needing to drag a drip with me, I shall be doing my damnedest to get there, lol.

So sorry to hear you have been poorly. I know chest infections well so feel your pain. Though since I have been on my nebuliser I have only had two in the past 12 months, as opposed to 9-10 a year! Woohoo!
Good luck in your treatment. I will be/am thinking of you.
Great stencils there. I do love Dreamweaver stencils.

Congrats on your son's engagement! That's happy news. And even though it was unlucky to snag a chest infection, thank God that it happened and was cleared up before treatments. Love your cards. It looks like you have been a busy crafter.
I'll send KNEE-mail for you for your treatments. Hugs.

Hi Shaz I really love those Dreamweaver stamps. I must look at their site. Sorry you haven't been feeling well this week. My brother gets asthma and I remember listening to him as a child fighting for breath. Scary and exhausting. Good luck with your first treatment.

Hi Shaz, thanks for popping by my blog tis week. Sorry to hear you have had a bout of the sickies. I can't believe you start your treatment so soon, or is it just that time gets away from us all. Prayers are being said, chemo is tuff. I've had a couple of very close friends that have gone through it, but positive attitude is soooooo important too.

You've gone gung ho on those beautiful Christmas cards.

Congrats on your anniversary, we are looking at #41 next week. And of course the engagement of your son is something to celebrate.

Hugs

What a tough time you are having, glad the chest infection is clearing up, the last thing you want is to delay treatment if you can. I hope you get to the concert in the new year too - can't say I've heard of them, however! congrats to your son and his fiance, how did they keep that quiet... Thanks for visiting. Helen 5

Sorry to hear you've been poorly. As you rightly say, it's better to have it now than when you are having your treatment.
I enjoyed reading your long newsy post.
I love those Christmas cards. Boy are you organised!
Belated congratulations on your anniversary. The card is gorgeous. I hope you will be able to go to Stratford some other time.
Thank you for letting me peep over your shoulder.

Oh Shaz... I am so sorry to hear how poorly you have been, on top of everything else! That must have been really scary. You are so upbeat and cheerful about everything, and I hope that continues once you start the chemo and radiotherapy. You are very much in my thoughts and prayers.

What wonderful news about your son! That must have cheered you up greatly, and also your 5th anniversary - congratulations to you both on that, and what a great card! I love that sentiment, and I may borrow it for future use for my dear hubby lol!!

Your Christmas card production line is going well, and what a good idea to brush off the loose glitter. I hate the feel of glitter and embossing powder on my desk and it does seem to linger on, doesn't it.

Thanks for your lovely comment - I've just hopped over to Sensory Perfection and it looks a great site. The range of bottles isn't as good as Ampulla but I love all the products they do. I have bookmarked the site for when I eventually do soap making - funnily enough, our felt-making teacher said she also teaches soap, so I may enroll for that one day! As for the mica powders, they won't have any binding agent in them like Perfect Pearls do, so you'd have to find a way of making sure they stick on. Re the Gaviscon, I have now decided that the peppermint flavour isn't 50% awful, it's 90% awful - but that's an improvement on the 100% awful of the aniseed, I suppose. It's got such an awful gloopy texture and it leaves a very unpleasant aftertaste. Still need the water chaser! Yuk.

You take care of yourself hunnybuns.

Big hugs,
Shoshi x

Hi Shaz, me again - I've just spotted your second comment. Thanks. Glad you've ordered some of the mini-misters from Ampulla - they certainly look good. I can't wait for mine to arrive now! It just shows how much it pays to shop around, doesn't it.

Sorry to hear you got that chest cold! I had a friend come over from London and DH came in from Austria coughing and within 3 days I was coughing too! Nasty thing! Glad to hear you are better! Hope Chemo goes well. Make sure to take it easy as you plan and don't over do at the beck of friends and family trying to make you feel better! Nice card you made the hubby and I still can't get in the mood to make Christmas cards just yet. Soon! Have a great week and thanks for dropping by and sharing with me. Vickie #76

Oh Shaz, you're really going through the mill at the moment. I know how terrifying asthma attacks can be, especially the first time it happens and you have no clue what's going on. Sending you love and I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday xx

Hi Shaz. Finally got around here - have been having HUGE problems getting blogger to accept my comments this week - no idea why! I do trust you are feeling better now - and please know that John and I will be praying for you and Doug as you start your chemo this week. Take care, my friend, go steady, and every blessing for the next weeks.
Great to see how far advanced you are with Christmas cards - and I know how you hate thinking that word this early - the cards are beautiful.
God bless.

Oh hun you are going through the wars at the moment, good luck with the return to work. Had to laugh at slipknot, I know what u mean when a gig is announced and it clashes with appointments, bloody annoying!

Great news on the family front though and something to look forward to.
