WOYWW #215

It's HOT!!!!!!! What are we like- moan if its wet, moan if its cold, moan if its hot- just no pleasing us, is there? It is glorious though, isn't it?  A picture of a climbing rose in the garden, Its called 'Spirit of Freedom', from David Austin Roses, which isn't too far away from us. We had a trip there about 3 years ago, and they have acres of ground, planted with their roses, beautiful sight, and the scent from them is awesome.
The blooms are huge, its one of the old fashioned cabbage roses, and has a gorgeous proper Rose smell. This is possibly the first year that the blooms haven't been ruined by rain.

Each flower is really heavy, you can see how they hang over, and each stem has 3 or 4 flowers on it. Both the clusters on here have already had one rose shed its petals.

Hanging baskets are doing well, last year they were a complete washout. Kitchen door in the background, with cat flap. Which Ambrose rarely uses. He prefers to sit there meowing & looking pathetic, until I open the door for him. Which I always end up doing. He doesn't try it with Doug, as he doesn't open the door for him!

Outside the front of the house we have some planters, with Lillies in, amongst other stuff. I love Lillies, one of my favourite flowers.

No real crafting going on this week, too flaming hot.A shot of my PC desk, instead, lol. Taken while writing this post. Littered with stuff. A couple of Simons Cat soft toys, an onyx penguin, with my WOYWW badge. A little teddy in a penguin suit on the right, a mug of coffee.

A few people were very taken with the Raven stamps last week. I did try & give everyone who asked the links, there are  two versions of the stamp, a portrait version called Raven Background (above), and a landscape version called  Nevermore.     Both at The Stampman.

Separate subject, has anyone else been seeing the Tim Holtz sneak peak e-mails?  The Distress Markers are coming out in the Limited Edition colours (which are part of the general range anyway now),  love the Laboratorie paper stash, and some of the new dies look awesome. There are Bottles,a Quill pen & inkbottle, a moon & stars and a Wall clock. Some new strip dies, love the railing fence one, and the new alphabet.

Join us all over at The Stamping Ground, with out hostess Julia, click on the links and see a whole world of crafters desks.

That rose is gorgeous, mine have been suffering in the heat :-(. How are you coping with sleeping in the day in this weather? I suppose it's a bit cooler when you set off for work!
Hope you and Doug are ok!

i'm not sure how you make time to do it, but the garden is a picture of loveliness, that particular rose is beautiful, I can practically smell it! it is hot, and I do love it..but I wonder how you get on trying to sleep through the hot parts of the day.
isn't it funny, I loved your treatment of the raven but now you show the stamp, I would have walked past it without a second look on the shelf, but now I might have to have the landscape format!

Those roses are absolutley beautiful. I can almost smell them. Takes me back to the gardens I played in, when I was a little girl. Picking up the petals and making 'perfume' in jam jars!

The flowers are stunning - well done. That penguin reminds me of the one in Wallace and Gromit - great fun.
Have a good week.

We are on day 6 of a heatwave here in NYC, and they say it will be going through the weekend! I am soooo melting and miserable. I had to get a portable a/c for my stamp room as I wasn't able to do anything for days. Your flowers are holding up great with the heat! I am trying so hard to keep things watered and each day my tomatoes are drooping when I return home. I wish I had your roses!! My liliies are doing ok with the heat, but soon will be praying for rain. I saw the sneak peaks from TH, and want the markers, papers, and a few of those dies (feather, gate for sure...) Winnie#84

Gorgeous roses, I do love to see flowers in bloom. I have a yellow rose that blooms each year and fuchsias that belonged to my nan but after she passed away we re-planted them into my garden and they are a lovely reminder and so pretty. Take care Zo xx 81

Love those roses and I loe it when they smell. I have some roses in my garden that are very beautiful to look at, but do not smell at all. To me they are not the real thing. The smell, to me, makes the rose.
Happy WOYWW and I wish you a lovely week.

Hi Shaz,
I'm lucky enough to live where an air conditioner is essential in the summer time, so we can stay nice and cool. Of course when the electric bill comes my eyes bulge out, my jaw hits the floor and the neighbors can hear me scream.
Your roses are so beautiful, such a delicate pink. I love the older varieties. In the small town north of us they have a rose festival every September, and the roses are just gorgeous.

Oh, Shaz, you do set me a terrible example, tempting me with those New distress markers. The roses are very tempting too. I might be taking a trip over there sometime soon to choose some really smelly roses for my one border to mix in with the very spiky lubricants I intend to plant. I am hoping they will finish the main roof tomorrow, leaving just the porch and the dining room roofs to do outside. Then there are a couple of jobs to do inside, hence the rush to clear my craft room so they can repair the ceiling. Isn't it tiring having people round doing work? Hope you are managing to sleep in this heat. xx Maggie #18

Yes, the sneak peeks are killing me! Because my local craft shop will not get any of the new stuff in for like 6 months, it's so ridiculous! Though it's not like I *need* anything, right? lol :) Thanks for stopping by to see me already and leaving me a sweet comment. Deeyll #50

Ah - was wracking my brains to recall who was a raven fan and now I know it was you. Check out my blog today to see a slightly cute EAP image, complete with a raven on his shoulder. No stand-alone raven but still.... Love that stamp and thanks for the link :)

Hi, Shaz, your flowers are utterly gorgeous. I love roses and lilies. We have problems with Japanese beetles here that love to eat my flowering plants, dratted things. I may have to get that raven stamp just to make a Halloween card for my best pal from my English major days . . . he's just too perfect. Thanks for visiting my blog -- hugs sent right back to you. ~ Laura #101
