WOYWW #580- The not much happening Edition.

There isn't really. Long shot of todays desk. Some piles of Christmas Cards, I've finally got round to cutting, stamping and sticking in inserts. My own fault, if I did it at the time, I wouldn't end up having to do so many at once.
 From front to back- glasses, phone, guillotine, wallet of Gelly Roll pens. Now, there's a question. How come Sakura can make gelly roll pens that always work- even white ones- yet no one else can make a white gel pen that doesn't fail almost as soon as you get it home?
Bottle of home made stamp cleaner, Versafine inkpads, Versamark and embossing powder- still experimenting with the MINC and stamping. Piles of Christmas cards,reading glasses, dry microfibre cloth for drying stamps and cleaning brushes on. Two carousels full of stuff to numerous to mention.
Far end is scalpels, tweezers and pokey tool. Pincushion- courtesy of Elizabeth at the last crop- and one of those loose sheet telephone pads that comes in handy for jotting stuff on, or squeezing blobs of glue onto.


Desk two- the desk behind the desk. Handy as a general dumping ground for what I'm using, just not right now, lol. The big  Really Useful Box is full of Christmas papers,tub on top has a damp microfibre cloth for wiping stamps. The big Document holder is holding card bags, some packs of coloured textured card underneath it. ATG next to that. Along the back storage tins for alcohol inks and a number of reinkers, Stickles & Pearls, with the Crop Bear sitting on top. Spray inks at the end on a Nail Varnish storage thingy from Amazon.Tim Holtz layering stencils hanging off a rail, along with Embossing Folder samples. The drawers under the desk have all sorts of card & paper, punches- which I really need to sort out, as I don't know  when I last used most of them- one drawer full of peel off sheets I'm trying to use up. Just at the very front, the corner of my Hobbycraft trolley with my make up brushes on top.And thats my contribution for this weeks WOYWW, courtesy of Julia over at Base Camp, The Stamping Ground.

Clearly from the US, as over here we'd say handbag, but all the same so, so true. I think I can handle anything short of a Zombie Apocalypse with the contents of mine.



Oh, I might be a bit late visiting today, I have a CT Scan at 10.00, and I have no idea how long I may be there. The longest part is usually them trying to find a willing vein!

A Second You Tube Video- Some Inkpads & Heat embossing.

Well, I finally got round to a second video, this time about the New Oxides I got today, and a bit about heat embossing in general. That took three attempts.lol.
 Still trying to get a Triple Stamping one I'm happy with, but we fixed the camera shake & odd blurry shot problem, so that should help a lot.
 This one covers using Oxides on Black card, which is my main reason for buying them.

The Oxides that arrived today, I'm not buying them all, just the colours that really grab me.

How a different mix of inks and embossing powders can change the look of heat embossing,

and how to use a clear embossing pad, such as Versamark, and a dye based inkpad, to allow you to heat emboss with a dye ink colour.

I  said at the end that I'll try to do a video using some of the inkpads that don't often crop up in videos, such as the Brilliance Pearlescent.

As you can see, I have a huge number of inkpads, and a number of different brands. Some retired, some still available, and quite a number of these I've had for ten years or more.

WOYWW #472

This week has been mainly organising, with a bit of crafting thrown in. I'm still working on those pics from last week, but as for the rest, I can't show it yet. I'm doing some Christmas Cards for the Christmas Card Club Challenge due this Sunday, and on a birthday card I've been asked to make for a friends girlfriend. So I'm afraid the organising will have to suffice. First off, I decided my inkpads needed a sort out- you'll see why that was a mammoth job in a minute.

This wooden unit was built for me by Beloved Hubby, well over 10 years ago, when I first started stamping. He built it to house my Wooden stamps back then, and it measures 31/2 feet by 3 feet.

He also built me a smaller one- 2 feet by 18 inches, to hold my inkpads.I unmounted the vast majority of my wood mounted stamps, the only ones left are the really big ones on the very top shelf.As my inkpads had outgrown their previous home, - thanks to Tim Holtz, in part, and all the colours in the Adirondack line-they took over the stamp shelves.
 And yes, you are quite right- no-one needs that many inkpads. But Need is the wrong 4 letter word, it should be WANT, lol.  But I've restrained myself with the Oxides!







This is after organising. The bottom two shelves are dye inkpads.Next one up is pots of Colour Cloud inks- which I was gifted, unused, and I've yet to give them a go- then the next shelf has Staz-on/Memento & Clear embossing pads, including Versamark. I did throw out those horrible Staz-on Opaque pads. Next are pigment pads, with white inkpads on the far left. My Brilliance pigment pads are on the next shelf up, along with some tiny wood peg alpha stamps , and a few other really small stamps.Top shelf now has gesso/mixed media stuff. The Brilliance, as well as some of the pigment pads, I've had for as long as I've been stamping,and the only ones I've had to re-ink are the Encore Gold & Silver.Right underneath the bottom shelf are three Multicolour pads, and two boxes containing Cats eye pads, and the Dew drop type pads.




 

 Then I decided I'd sort out my Embossing folders, so now I have the Christmas ones in a separate tub, so it's easier to get to the others.



Popped into Hobbycrafts on Sunday, while Hubby was in Webbs Aquatic section getting some plants for the fish tank.These box frames were half price, £3 for the smaller ones, £4 for the larger. Not a great deal of anything else though, well not to me, anyway. The papercrafting is getting smaller every time I go in, and the stamping is now almost non existent.Plenty of  stuff for other crafts though.










Had a lovely surprise delivered by the Postie this morning.

From our lovely Debbie (Tattered Rocks). She hadn't been able to join in the Birthday swap, as she hasn't been well, but sent me this. 




A beautifully decorated box, containing an ATC, a little note and a bunch of blank Black ATC cards!

 She knows me so well.😏

WOYWW # 315

Absolutely nothing. Nada.  Not a single thing to show you for this weeks WOYWW, courtesy of Julia over at The Stamping Ground. Why a bare desk? you may ask. Two reasons, firstly, we spent last weekend at Download, and I'll share a pic or two in a minute, but mainly because we are off on holiday on Friday- 10 days in Crete- absolute heaven.
We did have a great weekend, despite the British weather, but I can definitely say I am done with mud for a very long time!










Friday morning the weather was glorious, we even caught the sun a little. Then later in the afternoon it started raining. A lot. There was potential for needing to build an Ark.

After all the rain Friday afternoon/night, this was what the field looked like on Saturday. Actually, this patch wasn't the worst, you can still see grass.

One highlight of the weekend was an entertainment called Battle Heritage. These guys  fight in full armour.  I won't say mock fights, because these guys are not playing at it! The guy in the middle of the picture, with the white cloth held to his face had a huge gash across his nose and cheek. There is not a playful tapping of swords here, they full on batter each other to the ground (with blunt weapons).

Fellow fans of Game of Thrones, I swear that's The Mountain- he was enormous.

Highlight of Sunday night- KISS! Just a small portion of the crowd in this shot- 85,000 people on the field for Sundays bands.

I'll leave you with a final shot from my room, thanks to Tim Holtz and his 12 new colours for the year, I needed to re-organise my inkpads to accommodate them. Right on the top of the shelves are the only Wood-mounted stamps I have now. All the really big ones, which I'm sure are easier to manage still on their block.

OK, I lied. One last pic, as I just turned around to look out of the window, to see this sky.

WOYWW #263- I think

Hi everyone, missed a week last week, completely lost track of what day of the week it was. Hopefully our much -loved Hostess of Desks, Julia,back home at The Stamping Ground,is fit and well enough to herd us into order this week, after her ordeal on holiday last week.  Big hugs Julia {{}}.
 I decided my inkpads needed a tidy and to re-label some of them. I was going to use the printable ones that Tim has on the Ranger site for the Adirondacks, which print out with the colour as well as the name. Then thought that the colour representation might not be brilliant- printer ink varying so much. So I just did the names on an A4 label sheet , cut them up and swiped  the end of each one on the matching inkpad.
Adirondacks and DI's are re-done, I shall gradually get around to the others.
 The black cased pads on the bottom, the first two stacks are Encore Pigment metallics, the next four are mainly Ink It Up pigment pads- and I've had most of them for about 10 years now, and they still haven't dried out! Not too keen on the Ink it Up ones anymore, and I just tend to use them now for stamping into my image folders- and thats another job I've fallen behind on. The trouble then is not knowing which stamps you haven't catalogued, and I forget entirely about having the stamps. I have gradually been adding all the stamps I have into Evernote on my tablet, so at least I have a record when I go shopping.
 The only crafting going on has been touching up some of the Northern Lights I did at the crop.

I shall post up about them when I've finished them, but heres a taster. This is the 'before touch-up' image.

Here it is with some colour added to the rocks and water.  Still a bit more to do, I want to bring the pink/purple in the sky out more yet.

There was also the inset piece I did for Beloved Hubbys guitar, in the previous post.

 Last couple of pics, of two ATC's received, from Krisha and Annie,(Wipso). Thank you ladies, love them. Now I think I am going to have to make a little book or something to put them in. I still have last years in an envelope.

WOYWW? #190

Well, its been a while since my desk looked this- and how much fun I had getting back into some crafting. If you want to see the cards I made, they're in the post below this one. So why am I revelling in an untidy desk? Because its Wednesday (again), and our fantastic hostess, Julia at The Stamping Ground, is hosting yet another snoop/stalk around the worlds desks.
Do join in if you've not seen this before (where HAVE you been?)- it's a sort of visual eavesdropping on your fellow crafters :).
Physio is coming along nicely, and one of my exercises is small, circular movements, to get the shoulder moving. Small circular movements, I thought. Sounds a lot like sponging, to me. So I'm crafting, on the Physiotherapists orders- at least thats what I'm sticking too!  Have a great day everyone, and I'll meet up with you out on the web somewhere.
