WOYWW #596- The Tidy Edition!

And indeed, tidy it is, this Wednesday, our regular meet up over at Julias place, The Stamping Ground, to bare our desks to the world.

Cleared everything away and gave it a clean, along with the desk behind the desk too.

The reason for nothing at all on my desk- yep, I'm back in UTI land again, and since Friday, I've felt pretty much like crap, just been lay on the sofa either reading or colouring. But, the antibiotics seem to have kicked in now, so I'm starting to feel human again.  It's a real nuisance, but having a catheter and no bladder sensation means that my first indicator is back pain, which is normally the last symptom people get, when it's actually become a kidney infection. But, I had a chat with my practice nurse, and she's given me some dip sticks and explained what I'm looking for, so hopefully by regularly testing, I can pick it up earlier. Fingers crossed.

The other desk, still some stuff on there, but it's all sorted into 'stuff to do' piles now.

This is the wall next to my desk, with my rotary trimmer, large guillotine and an assortment of scoring boards, along with a glass mat. Stored handy for use, but not the most practical storage solution, I keep knocking the guillotine over with my chair. And the reason for showing this? I have a new thing to store, lol.

I saw these demoed a while back- a deckle edged guillotine- and it went straight onto my must have list. I use deckle edging quite a lot, either on layers, or card bases, and often for my inserts. Which was how I did my shoulder in a while ago, as my rotary cutter takes a bit of pressure to get clean cuts, and I haven't dared to cut any since. So, this will be a game changer, for sure.

I think it'll end up being stored on the desk behind the desk, rather than on the floor!

Something I've meant to mention a few times, and always forget, Shoshi, I am visiting and reading your blog, but I'm blocked from leaving comments again, lol.

And so, that just leaves.....And Finally......

Thanks to Ann in Spain for posting this one on Facebook.😀

Morning Shaz, sorry you've been laid low with a UTI again, hopefully the testing will help earlier next time. Enjoy your new trimmer. Helen #?

You have reminded me that I have a trimmer with a deckle edge blade on it. It has been ages since I've used it. I'll be interested to see the effect - mine "mimics" a deckle edge but is too regular, from what I recall. I must drag it out and maybe will do a test cut and see how it looks for comparison. Love your funny collection of quotes :D

Happy WOYWW!

The deckle edge cutter is on my Christmas wish list, i'm hoping it will be as good as I am hoping!! Take care & stay super safe & thank you for the WoywW funny's today. Healing Hugs Tracey 10 x

I'm determined to do my rounds of my favourite blogs before I get under a pile of sewing this week...it just didn't happen last week.
Sorry to hear you have UTI again....this time I've joined the club so you have my full sympathy. I'm hoping to get antibiotics today but our surgery has Covid so it's not easy and the treatment I got from the chemist hasn't cleared it sadly.
Hugs,

I think we’re all crafting superheroes on WOYWW then after reading that And Finally!!! I didn’t realise there was such a thing as a deckle edge guiltotine, you live and learn - what a fantastic asset though, I do love a deckled edge. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been laid low with a UTI again Shaz, what a pain - that practice nurse has made a good suggestion though, hope the dip stick idea works, at least you could head the next infection off at the pass.
Sending hugs,

The funnies are very funny indeed - I'm still chuckling! Too bad about your UTI though, poor you! Hope things will improve rapidly with the help of antibiotics and good to see you still keep your sense of humour and spread it to us as well. Storing those bulky items is always tricky - I have them all over the floor and under my desk as well. Hope you can get back to crafting soon! zsuzsa #19

I had to laugh at your cutters... I keep mine on top of my trash can.
I think most of us here are "heros"... :-)
Have a healing week!

oh yes! The guillotine! I have an xcut one that I love, but its old and sometimes I feel it bends a little instead of leaving a nice straight line, so I've been looking at this one, as it looks quite simular. Let me know how you get on with it. (My other ctters just jam up) I hope you feel better this week, crafting does help, but rest when you need to! Stay safe. Happy Crafting, Happy WOYWW

Happy WOYWW. Hope that infection is clear soon. I had to take antibiotics after the ferret bite a few months ago, and they made me so sick I had to stop early. I have managed to lose all of my scoring boards. I can't imagine I sold them when I did my last craft room sale, but they have disappeared. Definitely something I want to replace next year when I have some cash available. Ali x #27

Sat in my chair, computer on my knee and hot gel bottle on my back - bad morning again! Fed up!
Your guess was not right for my yellow thing - it does have parts that are interchangeable but not what you describe. Wait until next week and I will show it in full.
I love Eileen's work - I need to give some of her classes a go as I do like the stencil backgrounds she does especially. I can imagine that this type of thing is up your street, you will do well with these classes.
I have a cutter that has interchangeable heads and some are deckle ones but I rarely use it - like the two sets of deckle scissors I have somewhere. I really should, get my cutter out as I love deckle edges.
Hope you are soon feeling much better - another friend of mine has been suffering with a UTI for two months - umpteen antibiotics and hopefully the last ones are clearing it. It is awful the pain you must be in - hope you can get comfortable and soon cleared of it.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Well I'm still laughing at your pandemic funnies! Some good ones in there. I have lots of little gaps in my craft room where I can slot things like trimmers etc so they aren't constantly crashing on the floor. The trouble with that is, I'm not that good about being consistent. I've been looking for my hougie board for nearly a month - actually started looking on ebay for a 2nd hand one!! Yesterday I crawled around the floor checking all the 'slots' to try and find it. Success!! It had got pushed alongside the large mirror I use for doing my hair (can't have a dressing room and a craft room. That's how I ended up with stick and spray on my hair....but that's another story). Must be more careful in future. Hope you feel better soon, UTIs suck, especially if you don't get any early warning signals. Big hugs. Stay well, stay safe, Cindy xx #16

Hi Shaz, you must stop this! too much tidiness!!! I can't ever imagine getting like that even in the new cabin but I'm sure you'll soon be back there now you have the new test kit. Hope it helps. Enjoyed reading the funnies they really are smile worthy. Take care and happy creative woyww, Angela x18x

Hello, Shaz!
Definitely tidy! Sorry you have been under the weather again?

The deckle trimmer was interesting. I was wondering, at first glance, why it was a different color than my recently purchased tonic trimmer. I had not seen this. It will be on my list for a while but I have no idea where I’d put it. My floor is much more crowded !

I love Ann’s Pinterest post! I saved it to mine too, under my “Famous Last Words”. They will be great sentiments on cards during this time!

Feel better soon!

Happy Wednesday,

Kathryn

Shaz.....I am so, so sorry for your illness!! Peace and blessings and hoping you recover FULLY SOON!! I've only had a UTI once in my life and that once was one time too many! I hate it for you! I love your clean area, but I bet you are chomping at the bit! Love that cutter. I don't have one so turns out to be a manual thing for me, which can be a disaster at times! LOLOL Feel better soon! That new bit of stash looks like a useful beast. What's a deckle edge?
Thanks for the advice, I'll try to investigate your theory further. Watch this space!

Really sorry to hear you've got another UTI, Shaz - miserable for you. I am glad the antibiotics have started working, though. Your desk looks uncomfortably tidy!! I spotted your remark that you can't comment on my blog - I haven't checked the list for ages and it seems that you are far from alone. The anti-spam thingy on my blog is far too over-zealous and I simply must remember to keep checking it. Wordpress isn't very user friendly but I think I have managed to reinstate you - give it a try and see if it works!! I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

Happy WOYWW,

Ooops - forgot to mention - I had awful problems storing my score boards, cutting devices etc. and then I bought a metal rack thing for storing baking sheets etc. in the kitchen. It works a treat. You can catch a glimpse of it on the far right on the desk shot in this blog post: https://shoshiplatypus.com/woyww-535-food-again/ - I keep my ATG gun in there too. This might be a possibility. Love the new trimmer, by the way. It looks interesting!

I’d better go get an egg am blah today so won’t eat prepared tea. I’ve a deckle edge on one of my cutters on Aldi guillotine. I have used it a few times but rarely. Enjoy yours!

I’m late Shaz, but hope this finds you improving daily now. These UTIs are a real bummer, hopefully the nurse’s advice will pay off and you can stay free, the gap between this and the last one wasn’t huge. I thought you were moving house in a hurry when I saw your desk photo! I badly need to do that strip down, clean and start again, but I prolly won’t! Guillotines....same problem here, my grey and blue scarlet has really taken a lot of bashing and I lift it up by the blade handle more often than not, so it certainly has earned its keep! I saw the deckle edge cutter yesterday on an email from Craftstash and immediately thought of you! Let’s hope it does help avoid the neck/shoulder thing....can’t let a deckle edge dictate your physical well being!!

Hi Shaz, sorry to hear you are suffering with UTI again. Hopefully the nurse's dip stick idea will give you a heads up in future. I don't think I have ever seen your desk without crafting on it - very tidy. I do clear mine quite regularly with the grandchildren sleeping over - but that has been a rare occurrence lately! I have a few cutters, as I have not found one yet that cuts cleanly and straight. Best one I have is probably Woodware one, that has a few blades, I think a deckled one too, although I've never used it ... must rectify that. They are all piled high on a shelf, away from little fingers!! Thanks for stopping by earlier, I am leaning more towards scenic style cards at the moment and enjoying them. Have a lovely week, and I hope the antibiotics do the trick and you feel better soon, hugs, Heather xx #8

Sorry to hear you are poorly and hope you get Well soon. A while page of funnies to finish with, they are all great. The ones that really made me smile were the road runner one and the one about wearing just a mask and gloves! Sending love and hugs Angela #20

Oh dear - you and Annie both with UTI - her antibiotics are working but she still feels low. Hard enough to keep positive when we feel well - you don't need more hassle. At least you have nice new equipment to play with when you get round to crafty activity. I am making a few Christmas cards this week - just experimental fabric collage. Thanks for the BT tips. Knowing my luck I will cause mayhem!! xx Jo
