WOYWW #571- The Catching Up Edition.

I am, indeed, playing catch up. I was getting a bit concerned I wouldn't make it for this weeks desk round up over at Julias place, The Stamping Ground. Because last Friday- or it may have been Thursday, who knows anymore- my PC monitor decided it was going to the great Tech graveyard. Poof! just died on me. I've been able to access the Internet on my Chromebook, but that isn't Windows based like my PC, so I can't actually access anything I'd do on my pc, and it doesn't show me any pictures on there either. So, another monitor was duly ordered from Amazon, was showing Tuesday as a delivery date, so kept my fingers crossed. And here it is! On my PC desk which is over in the corner. I didn't get any cards made for the Christmas Card Club- thats something I need to catch up with in the next few days, as this challenge was 'Windows', and I knew I didn't have a die for this, but I did have cutting files on my Silhouette. So, having got a monitor again, I've just cut out the Window shape I want to use.
I also die cut 3 Memory Box candles I want to use with them.. I haven't poked out the waste for the windows yet. I'm currently having a think about the candles- I think I'm going to need to attach the candle bodies, otherwise the window will show through.

Sorted out some acetate sheets/OHP film I've coloured with Alcohol inks, and some using the KLEAR floor polish & tissue, to back the windows with, so they'll look like stained glass.

I've also got these inked card pieces I intend to use, not sure if I'll use them for these cards or not though. Probably not.

Not really enabling(!) but have you seen there are to be some new Distress Colours? Just sayin.😈
And that's all my desk related stuff done.
A few of you have asked what I did with my shoulder. It's not a new injury, some of you may recall I once snapped off a corner of my shoulder blade, where the rotator cuff is joined? Believe it or not, that was back in 2012. I had it in a splint for 12 weeks, then had physio, and it did all heal. The trouble is occasionally it will become painful- and the cold & damp really upsets it. We had some cold, damp weather a couple of months ago now, and it started aching. I then spent ages using my Rotary Cutter to give my card inserts a fancy edge, and that requires quite a bit of pressure to get good clean cuts. Anyway, I obviously aggravated it no end, and it's not been happy ever since. Been resting it, occasionally putting in a sling to support it, and it's gradually returning to normal. At it's worst, it's a bit like a cross between Sciatica but going down your arm- it'll extend as far as my knuckles sometimes, or having really bashed your funny bone! So, it's been getting a lot of rest, painkilling gel & painkillers, and I do think it's a lot better than it has been. Hope you are all still staying nice & safe, and that anyone who's been ill with this blasted virus, is getting better quickly.

Thanks for the update about what happened with your shoulder, and glad it's getting better. PHEW for the new screen, that came just in time! I wonder what new Distress colours there are going to be... I haven't used mine (apart from Oxides) for absolutely ages... well not used anything much at all! Take care and stay safe... Helen #??

I do hope your shoulder settles down properly soon Shaz. Glad your new monitor arrived in time to join in. I already have the new job lot of new Distress colour items on order with Art from the Heart. I couldn't resist. I shall get the crayons as they bring them out in packs. Apparently the markers have been discontinued so they won't be appearing in the new colours. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #11

Sounds like we are in tandem - shoulder problem and computer difficulties!
Chas has tried all sorts of things with this computer which is working, sort of, at the moment. Sometimes it is taking ages between different things and that spinning ball is driving me nuts. He says that he doesn't think it is good enough for the amount of stuff I do on it although he increased the ram to 8 from 4. Just to show you how much I use it - the "e" and the "n" keys are worn through so much that the light shows through from underneath the keyboard.
At least at the moment it is not crashing!
As for my shoulder, it is a new injury and I got one session with the chiropractor before lockdown. Have a virtual appointment with her on Saturday so hopefully she will be able to tell me whether to rest or use as at the moment I don't know. Hope your pain subsides soon.
Looking forward to seeing your club cards as I have that three candle die - used it a lot one year and wouldn't mind using it again. (I have a cake with a candle on - must post it on Cheers so you can see)
Hugs, Neet 3 xx

It must be the time for computers to die in various ways as the hard drive on our PC turned up its toes 10 days ago! We tossed up whether to replace it but decided on a new PC as the last one was ancient and didn't owe us anything. So we're waiting for that to turn up soon and meanwhile are using an old laptop from Rhys! First world problems eh?
I'm sorry your shoulder is still playing you up, nothing you can do except rest and drugs. I did like your preliminary window bits and pieces though, that'll be nice when it comes together!

Morning Shaz. Loving your spanking new monitor!! It certainly arrived quickly, and in the nick of time. Well done. I love that candle die - I use it a lot, too. Will look forward to seeing the finished stained glass windows. Glad your shoulder is improving somewhat. Cold and damp does set off anything remotely wrong with joints, doesn't it?!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Your new monitor and corner desk set up looks like a very comfortable nook. Sorry to hear you shoulder is playing up and anything repetitive seems to be the culprit in reawakening old aches and pains. Hope you can continue to rest and recover as you create some beautiful cards.

So glad you've got your monitor problem sorted, but sorry to hear you have been having shoulder problems. I hope it continues to improve, especially now the weather is getting better.
I'm loving the backgrounds for the windows, and I'm looking forward to seeing them finished.
Have a good week, keep resting and taking the pain killers,

Oh Shaz, we are so reliant on technology these days, it is a major issue when it packs up on us. Glad you managed to get a replacement monitor. My laptop is suggesting that it might die at anytime, so I am frantically backing stuff up in case it does happen, but without a monitor your computer is just a box of bits.
New distress ink colours? Oh dear, don't tempt me, I haven't got enough storage for the ones I have.
Bless you for sharing

I can't imagine what colour Tim has come up with, sad when a new coloured ink is a most exciting thing!!!
Love those backgrounds you're getting ready to use, look forward to seeing the finished results.
Have a good week and stay safe

Hi Shaz thanks for pop up comment window so can comment.

Wasn’t WOYWWing last week as too busy.. but read your post last few weeks, and been praying each day for your shoulder to come good.
I’ve rotator cuff injury on right shoulder that’s why I bought electric machine and can’t use rotary cutter because not enough omph, and have two different sized guillotine instead, sanity, and saves a lot of hassle.
But maybe your cutting couldn’t be done on guillotine.
I’ve that MB candle die too underused. Yes will need inserts .. nuisance though. Great idea with stained glass though they look fab.

New colours mm, no buy at moment, for months now actually last ones were on desk this week for February birthday, except glue tape and cardstock.

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you, and all you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x #13

I have refused to look at the new colours - don't know, won't want lol. Was just saying to Neet its an eyeopener how much we rely on our tech and how bereft we are when it breaks down - glad you got it sorted so quickly. Was that a bit of caught in crystal acetate you are talking about? Haven't done that in an age but great for a stained glass window. Hope the shoulder continues to improve. Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #24

Our poor computers are having to work so hard at the moment - I think they are all going on strike reading the comments here! Hope that shoulder improves quickly - you will be doing all the right things - it just takes time doesn't it. All fine here - just fed up with being at home but keeping busy. Stay safe. xx Jo

Blimey gal...you and tech are really in the wars. Hope your arm/shoulder is getting better now. Having had all the physio palaver with my shoulder, I can relate (as they say!) Looking at your picture of new die cuts, at first I thought they were gravestones (I've been tidying up my halloween die cuts this week, so they are probably on my mind). Hope you are all well.

oo sorry about the shoulder pain - hope you feel better soon xx How strange I have been looking for KLEAR for ages! I have a tiny kitchen and the floor has those lino type tiles that I wanted to cover with it - not been able to find any yet, I ordered something similar from Amazon this week. It's scarey when something we rely on so much , stops working - new monitor looks good .

Hello Shaz!
Glad your monitor has arrived to save the day! Don't you feel lost without it?
We had a massive rain storm complete with lightning and thunder yesterday. I was happy my surge protector was up to the task! I do have a small "simple drive" (for lack of a better work) that has so much backed up on it, but I'm so very sure not everything is there.
Your colors are so bright and vivid for your stained glass. They will be beautiful. Please share when finished.
Continue to stay well and Happy Wednesday

The shoulder thing sounds nasty. Sometimes things don't heal like they should and I think as we get older it's more difficult to get them back to normal. Why do computers let us down at the worst times in fact all inanimate objects seem to have the ability to do this! Good luck with getting the project finished. Have a lovely happy woyww and keep safe, Angela x16x

Isn't it amazing how dependent we are on our computers! I had to get a new monitor last year.
Hope your shoulder feels better soon.
Love your stained glass look! Can't wait to see your window cards using that!
Thanks for popping by and have a great week!

Hello Shaz! Your new monitor looks fabulous! I am glad you were able to make it. Thanks for today's visit. Love seeing the bits on your desk and no, I have not seen the new Distress colors and I am closing my eyes because I have already ordered too much during this social distancing thing! I am sorry your shoulder is giving you grief and hope it heals soon. My right hip was pretty sore last week and only slightly this week which is making me feel better. I think I hurt it exercising. Yup, exercising. March is too soon for Mother's Day I think you it should always be during warm months and years ago May was quite fine but the last few years it's been yucky. Stay well.

Gosh our computers break and we are lost. Wonder what we did before we had them. Your new monitor looks very posh like your computer corner. Sorry to hear about your shoulder But I am convinced that when we damage part of us in later life it cannot repair fully and comes back to haunt us. Have a great week. Ani #12

Glad to hear that your new monitor arrived. Looks like an interesting array of items on your desktop!
I always enjoy your posts as you are a wonder at making multiples! Something I need to do more of. My daughters often ask me for cards. With 2 kids, my youngest always needs kid birthday cards. They have a very large circle of friends that they camp with from Easter till Thanksgiving. They celebrate lots of birthdays that way. So I am always making camping, fishing and kid cards!
The other daughter is a nursing instructor and always needs Thank you cards for her hospital instructors.

Quick tip for your shoulder. I used to get a bit of relief from adding a small memory foam pillow high up in the sling, basically right under my armpit. It seemed to take the pressure off the shoulder/rotator cuff. Even a cut piece of memory foam would work.
Good luck and stay safe!

Hi Shaz, ooh hopefully the weather cooperates so that you can get back to feeling better soon. I love the idea of using the alcohol inked acetate with the windows, I was toying with the idea of using some vellum covered with it to do a scene the other day but, I ended up not liking what I had seen. so I can visualize the more light moving through acetate. oh yep, big background stamps are still on wood and so are Stampa Rosa house mouse stamps & PSX large stamps too. ( I have been pretty much moving through everything else to go wood less) and I am getting arthritis in my hands so, with large backgrounds I bought in the last few years on cling foam I just stick them to my glass mat and press the paper onto the wet inked rubber from the top down. ( that seems to be easier than dropping a wet huge stamp ha ha) I did see the tease about the new colors but, have not really given it much thought. It's hard to imagine what they thought they were missing color wise. ~Stacy #30

My goodness that’s a lot of work for those cards...I start to see why you do more than one of everything and then file them! I argue about the candles, but.....that’s a knee jerk reaction and it might actually look nice anyway...no one is going to not recognise the candles because there’s a blurred window visible - depends how lifelike you need them to be I guess. And despite the global arguments and blah, isn’t Amazon amazing, very glad you’re all screened up and present. Honestly, you’d think anything tech would know better in your house!good shoulder progress gal, glad you’ve been able to treat yourself, as far as absolutely possible you need to stay away from medical establishments if you ask me!

Sorry to hear about your shoulder, I hope the weather will be nice so it heals fast, those weather conditions 'work on the body' isn't it?! Let it rest and listen to music instead of crafting might help too ;) Thanks for your visit to my blog yesterday, have a nice week and stay safe! Hug from Holland, Marit #20

You've got a real hive of industry going on there, Shaz. It all looks very interesting! I can't imagine what new colours need to be introduced to the Distress range because there are already so many, and some are pretty close. I think they just want to make more money... Unless there's something earth shattering, I probably won't be indulging in that particular enabling!! Sorry to hear about your shoulder and I hope it will get better soon. Once the damage is done you often end with a weakness in a particular place and have to be careful not to overdo things afterwards! Thanks for your visit and I'm glad you like my teddies. I've started colouring them now, and I'm going to finish off the colouring by adding some of the brilliant new white paint you recommended, and then possibly add a bit of doodling. Then I shall have to find out the best way of making them into the accordion book! As for my washing, it was only after I'd posted the photo that I realised that right in the middle were my enormous hernia support pants!! Now they are emblazoned all over the Internet for the whole world to see... Good thing I'm not embarrassed by such things, isn't it!!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Hi Shaz! If nothing else, crafting keeps our brain cells working! I really enjoy figuring out creative ways to meet challenges. I think those cards are going to be gorgeous! We seem to be shoulder buddies, I had a similar indecent with my shoulder, and it has been aggravating me lately. I think my foray into yoga did it! I am now doing only right handed yoga, trying not to damage it more. Heal quickly! Have a wonderful week, stay safe, Lindart #31
