WOYWW #373

So it's going to be one of those days. For starters, I overslept. Then I was certain today was Tuesday. Right up till 10 minutes ago, in fact.
But I'm here now, an accident from Sid not helping either!
Then I couldn't find the pictures for todays post, finally realised they are still on the camera.
First up then, I saw this last week, I think on Chris's blog, free with a magazine.

Next, from a walk over the town I had yesterday, I stopped off at Poundland on my way past.

They are intended for use with nail art, but they are essentially embossing tools of all different sizes.

From very tiny to 'normal' size. So, a bargain there if anyone needs any.

A couple of very fine paintbrushes, still two for 3 quid at The Works.

Lastly, a purchase from E-Bay of some Christmas die cuts.
4 of the Merry Christmas A5 pieces, and a selection of silhouette deer, a couple of flowers and squirrels.

A few Bloggers went to Birmingham New Street Station to meet Darnell, as she had a 5  hour break between her trains. A lovely time was had by all, meeting another WOYWWer, Anne ( Copperbeech Crafts) and a few other friends of Darnell.

From the left, counterclockwise, Marg (Silvercrafter), Me, Ange, Donna,Anne (Copperbeech Crafts), Kusum and Chris (Cardius Bloggus).
Gorgeous food in The Handmade Burger Company, and lovely staff too.

Darnell taking that photo, here she is with Marg, and with me.

So, after a bit of a panicked start today, I'll be visiting in a short while, just waiting for a parcel to arrive.

Fab pix, Darnell's a hoot and a half isn't she? You all look to have had a great time.

Great bargains from The Works and Poundland - particularly loving those repurposed nail art/embossing tools!!!

Happy WOYWW. I bought that magazine too - just to get the bicycle dies and stamps. Super cute. Glad you enjoyed your time in Birmingham. I lived there from 1989 to 2003, and still really miss the city. My Dad still lives there and he says that so much has changed. Ali x #26

I'm chuckling here Shaz at you panicking to get your blog done....like its a life and death situation eh? I know just how important it is to us all so know where you're coming from but remember we are going nowhere and will still be here later. Love your latest purchases and I've enjoyed all the pics today of the bloggy meet ups. We really have made some wonderful friendships thanks to this blogging lark haven't we?
Hugs,

It's fun following Darnell's Crafty Tour of the UK! So lovely to meet her last week in Salisbury. Six hours went by in a flash. I expect it was the same for you.

It looks like you got some bargains there - I shall definitely be looking out for those paint brushes having just bought a very fine one for nearly £7 in Hobbycraft! The bike stamps and die set is very sweet, and I love the deer die cuts. If you need any more I have a couple of deer dies and can whizz a few off for you.
It's been lovely seeing all the photos of Darnell's tour - it looks like you had a fab time.
Hope you have a lovely week and thanks for stopping by earlier,

Shaz, you can't oversleep, unless you have to be out of the house at a certain time! Sleeping in - that's different and totally allowed! Looks like you ladies had a lovely meet up! Great freebie! At least Craft Stamper magazine has some competition - a lot of people were not happy when they they reduced the frequency of their free stamps to just every other copy. I' a frequent visitor in Poundland and the Works too - you can't beat a good bargain! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #28

I was tempted by the bike die mag but resisted. I went into the works this week but only came out with 3 books for preschool. I've not even given Christmas a thought. The meet up looks fab, how special. So thankful for my WOYWW friends right now. Thanks for visiting and putting a spark into my day, love BJ #34

Love the nail art (embossing tool) set. Looks like fun was had at the meet-up. I hate when I lose a day that way. I much prefer when I think I'm a day ahead of what it is, then I feel like I gained a whole day. Also, if you overslept, you must have needed the rest. Blessings, LisaDV #35

Hi Shaz lovely new things there to play with. It was such a fun Sunday afternoon wasn't it? So lovely to meet everyone. I was so pleased to meet you in person and give you a hug. You are as lovely 'in the flesh ' as you are virtually on your blog- if you understand what I mean :-) Anne x #16

It looks as if you all had a great meet-up, Shaz. What fun. Well done for getting such bargains, too - if I hadn't already got a set of different sized embossing tools I'd certainly go for these. It's always good to think outside the box because there are loads of much cheaper substitutes out there, of materials and equipment that the art/craft suppliers put a premium price on - it's quite a rip-off really. I like to make art out of rubbish as much as possible, to save my pennies for things you can't substitute like my beloved gel mediums.

Thank you for your lovely comment - my shoulder is tons better, thanks to the excellent meds and the cortisone injection, but I'm still going for my physio appt. on Fri. because they will probably have some useful exercises for me, and advice on how to prevent it returning, or if it does, to know what to do. I've just read on your Cancer page that you've been suffering with sciatica - it seems like one thing after another at times, doesn't it! Glad to read that you are generally making good progress, though. Sorry to hear that Sid misbehaved today! Kermit is usually very well behaved and causes me no trouble, and I sometimes forget about him so completely that I realise that his bag is full to bursting and I'd better deal with it straight away lol!

As for Phoebe, yes, she loves the warmth and softness of the compost heap, which makes a lovely bed for her in the sunshine! You are absolutely right about the bits she brings into the house, thoug - she always waits till she gets indoors before she shakes them all off! She's doing very well on her meds and her last seizure was on referendum night (23rd June) - she's having them only about every 6 weeks now.

It's great getting my mojo back, and the ideas are flowing thick and fast again and I'm really enjoying time spent in the studio, but I can't spend too long in there before my back starts aching with fatigue and I have to stop. Oh well, at least I can do some!

Happy WOYWW and keep well,
Shoshi #31

PS Kermit says "Hi!" to Sid.

Love the pictures with Darnell. I just love it when I find tools suitable for paper crafting even when they're not necessarily meant for papercrafting.

I got some of those embossing tools (sorry nail art thingies) a while ago but I gave them away because I have lots but could not resist buying such a bargain. Maybe I should look for another set - mine were pink.
Must look out for the brushes from The Works. I used to have a compulsion to buy handbags - think it is now paint brushes. I have loads yet still buy more.
Love the bicycle set, I love putting a bike on a card and have a die very similar to that image.
Well, Shaz, thanks for the "ups" on Darnell, I couldn't stay long but it was so wonderful to meet her, what a lady she is. Sadly don't think there were any other WOYWW'ers there but hey ho, I made new acquaintances.
Hugs, and thanks for the visit to mine earlier

You sure made some stellar purchases! The Christmas die cuts are just gorgeous! I've seen some of the other ladies blogs that went on this wonderful lunch gathering...so jealous! I wish I lived in England again. I did when I was a child. I visited there recently when it was the wedding of the Royals Will and Cate. It was wonderful to be there again. Hoping to visit again soon.
