WOYWW#604- The early New Year Edition.

A little early, buy no certainty I'll be up to posting on New Years Day! So I want to wish all my WOYWW friends a Happy New Year, from the bottom of my heart. For all the good wishes, and all the concerns for my health, for all the times we are there for each other, you have more gratitude than you can imagine.
On to the subject of health, and it's possible that at last we have a reason for the recurring uti's. It's odd how just speaking to a different GP can make a huge difference! I had to call yesterday, as I had an unpleasant discharge appear, and this time got to speak to my main named GP, the senior partner. As soon as I mentioned the colour/smell from the discharge, his next question was ' and you've been having a lot of uti's?' Turns out - and Annie will understand this- I have developed a fissure thats allowing fecal matter into body cavity, and thats providing the reason for all the uti's. As it happens, my oncologist had requested an appt for me with my original surgeon over something different, and that came through for January 12th. But my GP was getting in touch to inform him of the new situation, so thinks it likely that will get brought forward. So thats where we are, the solution is going to be some surgery, but will enable an end to the uti's, and let me get some strength and weight back. On that front, because I've been only able to hold down water for two or three days when it kicks in,I've now dropped to 9 stone 2lb, which is a bit further than I'd like to have gone, to be honest, but I should be able to add a few pounds to my frame once this is sorted. For scale, when you last saw me at Crop, I was in the 12 stone 5lb region!Which is around a 45 lb weight loss, so more than I'd have ideally lost. But thats for another day, and I'm sure a few custard creams and bourbons will lay down their lives in a good cause, rofl!

And so we come to .....And Finally........enjoy a last giggle of the year.....

So glad that you may finally have a permanent solution to all the UTIs Shaz. That is an overly extreme weight loss programme all right! Here's hoping 2021 is a much better year all round. Stay safe, happy WOYWW and Happy New Year. Sarah #9

Delighted to see you have the strength to write a post Shaz, my word you’ve had the roughest time and I’m pretty sure every one of us is in awe of your determination and lack of complaint, we love you and want you to be well so badly, we’d put up with a bit of moaning, but never not once have I heard you bemoan your lot. SO SO glad that the named GP has got a solution underway, it can’t come soon enough. I don’t get the way these group practices work...surely the doctor(S) you had been talking to over the past months shouldn’t have treated each UTI in isolation....a scan of notes surely should have prompted some sharing amongst GPS in some meeting or other. I think when your stronger, heavier and well enough, I’d like you to speak to them about this. Bossy? Moi?
Thank you for my deckle edge guillotine by the way, the one bit of enabling that really worked on me. Oh, apart from ink pads and stencils. And prolly some other stuff that I haven’t even used yet!! 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

Oh Shaz, what a time of it you have had and that weight loss!!! That is not on is it, really. We all moan we want to lose a few inches but that is incredible, and to lose it being ill on top of it all. I am just glad that it looks as if you are getting some solution at last. Sending gentle hugs just to you.
Here's to a better year ahead than the one we have just had, and certainly the one you have had. Keep blogging and stay safe, happy and get well.
Hugs, Neet 13 xx

Oh Shaz! You have had a very rough time of it and I have felt for you when week after week you wonder why things are so bad. To finally have an idea of a solution is wonderful, even if it means a surgery to solve it. But so annoying it took this long and it was just the luck of the GP draw that gave you (potentially) the solution.

Try 28 cookies - see if that works :D

Happy (almost) 2021 and wishing you nothing but health and happiness in the New Year!

I am so pleased you are well enough to post - and yay for finally getting an answer to the problem of the UTIs (hopefully the surgery gets brought forward and does the trick soon) I am with Julia actually on the group GP thing, but thank goodness they've got to the bottom of it. Sending you both a big hug for a happy and HEALTHY new year. Lots of love. Helen #5

I am so cross that it’s taken up to now for that diagnosis but at least you have a reason for the UTIs now and it can be sorted. IT did worry me when I saw how much weight you’d lost at the Zoom crop so a few biscuits and choccies will help. We’ve all been so worried about you, I know going into hospital isn’t the greatest thing at the moment but a. Nursing friend said that general surgery is so carefully run, you’ll be fine. And thanks for the deckle edge guillotine, it’s been used in anger a few times already.
Happy New Year to you and Doug, hugs to you both.

Okay, still laughing about the cookies :) seriously though, I am sorry you have developed a fissure, but glad they have found the problem. My daughter went through this. I just deleted a whole load about my daughter’s experience, because every situation is different, but feel free to ask if you would like to know. Praying that all will be sorted out soon. Oh Shaz - let's hope it all gets sorted out soon - on a selfish note, that will mean more inspiration for us.

All the best for 2021.

PS - it would need more than armour to get a pill into Bendy!!

Shaz, my heart really goes out to you!! I KNOW all too well what you are going through love!! My most recent saga was not near the chaos as yours, but it ranked up there with doctors fiascos, rounds of antibiotics and a "rare bacteria! Seems my name and "rare" tend to go together nicely! LOL I'm still not convinced that my UTI is gone, but I go to see my oncologist coming up and I'm sure they will have another go! LOL Many, many blessings for a clean bill of health for your 2021!!! You deserve it! Happy WOYWW, Felicia #31

Hi Shaz, so sorry to hear about your uti's, but happy that you now know the why and the how to fix. Uti's are NOT fun. 2020 has been a trying year for all, more for some than others. I consider myself very lucky that I have the means and the opportunity to stay holed up at home for as long as it takes. And that I have a room full of crafting supplies! And online friends to share it all with! I hope 2021 is much better for you, that you get this uti thing cleared up, and get back to the weight you want. All my best wishes for the New Year, Lindart #34

Hi Shaz, goodness me, that is some extreme weight loss - it's a good job they finally figured out what is causing the UTIs and can fix it! Bring back the days when there was a family doctor, who knew the family, rather than these practices where everyone works in isolation! Here's hoping 2021 is a better year all round, and that it gets kick started with your surgery and you go from strength to strength health wise. Not sure about how many cookies it takes to be happy- one piece of Christmas cake does it for me at the moment lol. Happy New Year to you and Doug, hugs Heather xx #30

I am very glad that at last someone has put their thinking cap on and come up with a reason for all your UTIs, Shaz. It's been so miserable for you... A bind that it means yet more surgery but let's hope it sorts the problem once and for all. Of course, there's the whole problem of getting an operation at all these days - goodness knows when mine will happen - I've almost given up all hope! I hadn't realised you'd lost so much weight through all this. I am now 9 st 1 lb but that was intentional and more or less the weight I should be and I feel healthy with that, but to lose so much and so quickly is a worry, and no wonder you've been feeling so rough and exhausted. Let's hope for much better things for you in the coming year, because you've been through more than enough with your health.

I roared with laughter at your first funny! I can soooo identify... Brilliant.

Happy New Year and happy WOYWW,
Shoshi x #25

So good to see you blogging even though you're having such a bad time. I hope that, now the problem has been identified, you will soon have the necessary surgery and be on the mend again - and put on a bit of weight too. Oh, and I can identify with the funny - medicating a cat calls for much ingenuity. Hugs to you and Doug and a Happy New Year too. Elizabeth x #32

Oh Shaz! Glad you have found a solution to curing your utis but sorry it will mean more surgery! That is a big weight loss when you weren't even trying! I too have lost a little bit of weight but really needed too, my sugar levels have fortunately gone down too!
Love the first giggle, reminds me of our Snowy!

Praying this surgery will do the trick for you, Shaz. I sure wish what is ailing me made me lose some weight, though, I must confess a teeny bit of jealousy. My spinal arthritises are flaring and I'm in a neck brace and using a cane for my right ankle. Honey says I look like a PSA for a personal injury lawyer, lol. I am finally admitting to myself that my ankle is trying to tell me to "lighten up". In all seriousness, even though I've never had a UTI, I hear the pain is ridonkulous and my heart goes out to you.

Hope you and Doug have a cozy New Years Eve and a better year ahead! xox, Aimeslee

Hi Shaz
Ive been not been blogging since the Christmas one, and hadn’t seen this. I’m guessing from comment on two blogs your op must be happening or have happened, praying much for healing blessings, no infections at all, and swift return of strength and weight to healthy levels.
BTW today on my WOYWW page I’ve used your KrazelCraft penguins as two male birthday cards, Helen said she’s only seen them as Christmas cards, but they didn’t say that to me at all but perfect as birthday cards for difficult males especially as we do have penguins here, although they’re little penguins ..
Praying much sending healing hugs and blessing to you both at such a time as this.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, giant prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x
