WOYWW #470

And the ATC swaps are still arriving! So much amazing artwork involved in them, thank you so much to everyone who swapped with me.If you've never joined in with our regular Wednesday Blog Hop, then pop over to Julias place, The Stamping Ground, and leave your link. It's fine here, we don't bite! While you are there, have a look at the info page about this years crop, in September, in Llandudno again. All you have to do is turn up, chat, eat cake, and a spot of crafting, if you want to. 😀

From Dolores (Cardarian), and our Beloved Leader, Julia.

From top left, Suzanne Alexis, Christine (Bishopsmate), Sylvia (Little Treasures) and last but not least, Jo,( Twiglet) who had already swapped with me, but as I was her PIF, she sent me another. Inside a fab card featuring the work of her daughter, Max, otherwise known as Tilly Teadance. Tilly used to join in WOYWW, but if you are new and have never seen her wet-felted work, go check out her blog.

Onwards, then. No crafting this week, I've been busily organising for our upcoming weekend-
yes, we're off to Download again. Friday to Sunday. Fingers crossed the rain stays away, but for headliners  Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N Roses & Ozzy Osbourne,  I'll tolerate a soaking.

A subject came up on SCS, about how to line up Oval dies on your card face and get them straight, or to line up your dies to cut from the centre of your card front/panel. Someone came out with an idea so simple, I think we all sat there feeling dumb!
 Here it is:
Die cut your oval shape, then fold in half lengthways. Open out and fold widthways. Then mark the folds. Now put the diecut back into the die, and mark the four points on the die. If you mark your card front lightly in pencil, dividing it in half lengthways & widthways, you can accurately place your die to cut,or if you lightly mark your die cut oval to place on top, everything will be straight.

I just cut mine out of scrap paper to demonstrate, but you could actually have a template the same size as your card front, and use that for accurate placement. Works with circles too. One thing I did notice is that the Nesties Scalloped Oval is not symmetrical- you can see on the die markings I made, so it would be wise to mark the top of the die & die cut.

One final thing I keep forgetting to add in, we had a follow up from my last scan (back in April) a few weeks ago, and to be honest, we expected the best result we'd get would be that it hadn't changed in size. However, he said it had shrunk since the scan in December, and it was now half the size it was a year ago, when I first got referred to him. Back then it was 5cm, now it's 2.5. So, way better than we expected, and he was happy to refer me back to my local Oncologist, as he didn't see any need to keep going to the QE. It'll just be monitored with regular scans.

Just quickly hopping back to ATC's- Kim Young sent me one, with a stamp on it that featured a Solar Eclipse. I'm always hanging on to interesting looking stamps, so I still had it, when Kim told me that if you warn up the stamp it changes.

And this is what is revealed when you do- how clever is that?

And finally...................................

I'm sure that applies to most of us too-I'm just amazed our home HAS that many safe places!

That safe place thing is almost no longer funny around here!! Love the doh moment with the dies..thanks for sharing - I too have the scallop oval and have to quietly admit that I thought it was just me Being wonky that meant there symmetry was missing! Hope you have a grand weekend..I gather the forecast isnt too bad at all, so you may not have to tolerate much!

What a cool postage stamp - I wonder how it works! Lovely to see some more ATCs. Good tip on the oval - I'm not very good at lining things up, I'm afraid - I haven't got the patience - I usually just eyeball it. If it ends up wonky, I just call it "whimsical" - my hubby would call it a bodge job LOL. I can totally identify with that safe place quote - I've just discovered some rubber stamps I bought years ago and never knew existed! Happy #470! zsuzsa #20

Have an amazing time at Download, I think you'll be ok for the weather! Great tips about lining up the dies correctly, I like simple but effective solutions to crafting issues like that. The And Finally made me snort, I think we all do that - even when I tell G where I'm putting something, he forgets too!!
At least we laugh together about it....

I am loving those ATCs. Nice to add to your ever growing selection. That stamp is wonderful. They were sold out by the time I got to my local PO. Apparently, they didn't last long.

Had to laugh at your safe places. I have a few of those, too, it seems. Happy WOYWW from #2.

Hi Shaz, Lovely variety of ATCs.

Great tip for the die.

So pleased the scan showed it had shrunk. Sending heaps of positive healing thoughts. Glad they will keep an eye on you at your local hospital.

That stamp is fab.

I did smile at the Minion quote.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Hi Shaz! Oh my, how often has it happened that I put something in a safe place and lost it! I just last week found a mug a got for my DD for her stocking years ago. . .LOL! So pleased that there was good news from the scan. That stamp is such fun... so cool, and thanks for the tip about the dies, I always do it by eye and end up having to cut the card a bit smaller so it works! I am back on WOYWW for the first time in years but I no longer use my blog so am attempting to join in by instagram... here's hoping it works!

Hi Shaz, that's great news from the hospital! Love your collection of ATCs. Have a great time at Download. We saw Guns n Roses a few years ago (in the years Slash was not with them). They were 2 hours late coming on stage ... not impressed by the wait, my feet were killing me! But they were good! Love the funny at the end .... I put Everything away safe! Thanks for stopping by earlier, and have a lovely week Heather x #14

Aw that's lovely Shaz. Thanks. Tilly is bogged down with workshops and arty stuff otherwise she would blog a bit more. I love the Minion "safe Place" - I have loads of them and constantly lose stuff! xx Jo

A fascinating post, Shaz. That's a very good tip with the dies - must remember that one! It does annoy me when dies/cutting files are not symmetrical - with the latter I usually end up re-drawing them. A great collection of ATCs too, and as you say, a fascinating stamp. Hope you have a great time at Download (rather you than me lol!) and that you don't get soaked or get your eardrums blasted out! And huge congratulations on your scan result - that IS good news! I had a telephone appointment with my oncologist last week and everything continues to be fine, I'm happy to say - any complications in that area would be just too much after all I've been through recently!

Thank you for your lovely comment - my iPhone arrived today but I can't set it up till the SIM card arrives (prob. tomorrow or the next day) - I'd hoped to start using the apps in advance but I can't get beyond the initial setting up stage. The kitties spent all day out in the garden today! They were rather tired this evening when they came in.

Big hugs to you both and happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #25
