Well, I've managed to get myself back in gear this week, for our pre- Christmas coffee and Mince pies over at The Stamping Ground, hosted as always by our much loved Hostess, Julia. I finally managed to get around to clearing all the stuff off my desk- most of it not put away, I hasten to add, just moved to another desk. Telling myself I'll get round to it over Christmas. There is something new on my desk for this week though, I treated myself to a few more Promarkers, from Cowling and Wilcox- best price on the net, either for single pens, or packs.
I bought the Winter 2014 set, and a small selection of single pens. Also, 3 Flex markers, which I've gradually been adding to my collection as they have a lot of really pale colours in them, much lighter than the Promarkers. I also noticed with the new pens that they are now putting a coloured sticker on the 'flat' end, which I had been doing myself up till now, to make it easier to find the colour I wanted.
Next pic will give you all a smile. You know when something doesn't turn out to be quite what you expected. I live my life quite happily in the knowledge that I am probably the only person in Europe who still measures everything in feet and inches. Hmmm, well apparently I'm not. I saw something I wanted to get Hubby for Christmas, looked at the size, automatically assuming the measurements were in centimetres.
Beloved Hubby answered the door to the postie a week or so ago, then called me and asked me what on earth I'd ordered. I took one look at it and said 'thats bigger than I expected.' I'm quite good at understatement, by the way.
Its a canvas picture, and the 42 I took to be centimetres, turns out to be inches. What was supposed to be a small canvas is more along the lines of a room divider!
I've photographed it leaning against the bookcase so you can get a sense of the scale. Its at least 4 times the size I was expecting. So this could get interesting.
I also want to say thank you to everyone for the Christmas cards received, they are gorgeous, every one of them.
We seem to have the majority of my problems under control now, I just still get aching buttocks, which makes sitting for too long uncomfortable, no matter what I do. So, I've spent a lot of time lay on the sofa catching up on watching Stampscapes videos. And I still get tired easily, I've discovered. On Saturday we took my Mom to put a wreath and flowers on my brothers grave, then do her Christmas shopping afterwards, so I was probably on my feet for about 6 hours. I kid you not, over Sunday and Monday, I think I've slept for 40 hours out of 48! However, I think I have finally run out of sleep, so I'm on the up again. I do now have my scan appointments for January, my MRI on the 6th and my CT on the 9th, so I should get my case discussed at the MDT meeting on the 13th, and within about a week, I think we'll have a date for the next surgery.
So, from myself and Doug, may you all have a lovely, calm and peaceful Christmas, and we want to thank each and every one of you for all the love and support you've given us during the year.

a friend at work did a similar thing with a canvas picture of her sister... she could barely get the package in her car to take home...
Wishing you and Doug a very very happy Christmas, and all my good wishes for a successful outcome to the many appointments coming up in the New Year. Take care, my friend, sending you much love. xxx Helen #5
Ha ha I was laughing so much to myself I nearly missed the platform alteration for my train to work. As I work in a haberdashery I hear all the time that " I can't do the new stuff" .... It's over 40 years now so I understand your confusion😀
Glad everything is working out and you have a great christmas..... Do you hear? But done push yourself too hard

That's so funny! Hope you can find room for it somewhere. I'm an inches girl too.Patchwork and paper crafting just lend themselves to imperial measurements, in my head anyway! Have a lovely Christmas with your family xx

So funny. Have a wonderful Christmas. My very, very best wishes for 2015 . Anne x #21
Lol!! That's going to be the biggest mixed media canvas in the whole world!! So goad it's not just me who does daft things like that :-)
Glad that you're doing ok, the treatment seems to be whizzing by. Positive thoughts for the scans etc in the New year!
Sending massive hugs and CHristmassy love,
LLJ and her Boys xxxx
LOL, that is a big canvas! It must have been a good price if you thought it was for something a quarter of that size. I'm sure you'll find a good use for it - even if as room divider, LOL! Merry Christmas and happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #24
I am glad it's not me having to up my design to fit the canvas, I have enough trouble downsizing to fit ATCs!
I hope you both have a Loved up Christmas time, with lots of laughter and hugs.

Hoping my links to the Raven came thru. I got the hardcover copy from the states and it's just yummy. Already scanned the centre spread, cleaned up the page join, and printed n t-shirt transfer paper :)
I still do feet and inches, and always type into Google to get the conversion :) and take a US tape measure out so I can visualize the size.
Now I am SO curious as to what it looks like....
Happy Christmas Eve WOYWW!

I'm doing a quick spin round all my favourite blogs to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and to catch up with what you're up to at the last minute.
I love the fact you have a new room divider.....I'm always doing things like that.
Thank you for visiting mine earlier. Wishing you both a happy New Year and hoping all the health checks come with good news and a happy outcome.
Hugs,

LOL! I can see myself messing up the inches and centimeters thing. I hope all is well with your doctor's appts. Merry Christmas. #6
hehehhe! Totally understandable - although I'd be more likely to make that mistake the other way around :o) Happy Christmas to you and yours Shaz. Annie C #31
I had to smile at your inches/cm mistake. Oops! Well, you got more value for your money than you thought.... Is your husband going to use the canvas or are you going to send it back?
I'm glad you're rested again after the pre-christmas marathon. Take it easy girl.
Thank you for visiting and I wish you and yours a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Hope you find a place for your new "room divider." lol
I'm in the U.S. and we still use inches, but I've been switching to millimeters & centimeters for my jewelry making because it makes so much more sense than fractions.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the nice comments.
Merry Christmas and happy Woyww,
Sandy #17
Good luck for the meeting in January.
I love the picture you have at the top of your page this week, clever you.
So glad you had that mammoth sleep, will have done you good, sleep is a great healer, You know Shaz, you have done so well.
You certainly gave us all a smile about the picture, hope you have a wall empty and big enough for it to be displayed. Just as I hope we all get to see it when it has been unveiled and hung.
Have a wonderful Christmas, you deserve one.
Hugs, Neet 14 xx
Getting nice markers at a great price is so fun! I just need to take some art classes to increase my coloring and shading skills. I love that there are folks in Europe who measure in feet and inches. I am afraid I was too far out of my school years when the U.S. tried to push the metric system in on us. And I'll just never get used to it! Enjoy the holidays with your family and friends. Happy Christmas! Sandy Leigh #39
Best wishes for a healthy happy year. Hope your surgeon has the measurements in the right format!
hugs Monica......I can never get that it is Wednesday in the morning late with everything.
well, expect the unexpected!
holding you in huge healing light dear friend.
I have to call my sponsor at pens anonymous just looking at your new stash!
Love, Light and blessings,

Feet and inches is good for me too. The image of your husband opening the door to the postman staggering under such a huge parcel! Ha!
Wishing you all a very peaceful and restful Christmas X
Lynda B no post this week!
Ho ho ho! That's jolly laughter at the unexpected size of that canvas. Will you be returning it or are you now thinking of a large scale project?! Hope you feel good enough to ring in all the holidays in a happy way! Judy #44
Happy Christmas WOYWW Shaz, glad you are feeling better. I had a chuckle about your canvas, I wonder where he will put it.
You can ignore the I'm not a robot thing I have found, so I do.
Cazzy #37
Well that canvas will be seen, that is for sure!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Hope you had a lovely Christmas and may 2015 bring you all that is good. I've thought of you often but have had difficulties leaving messages.
Lots of love Jo x
Shaz, belated Happy Christmas. I also work in proper measurements, I do have problems occasionally but not quite like yours.
Glad you are feeling better, but don't overdo things and expect to be100% too soon.
Hope the New Year is really good for you,
Chris #53
I love that you got new markers, Shaz, and I giggled at the story about the, erm, unexpected postal delivery! I do the same thing, not with inches and centimeters, but just with not paying close attention to the size of what I'm ordering on line. For instance, I thought I was ordering a new platform and shims for my Big Shot, and I was shocked at the size of the box they came in. Well, turns out I had ordered such for a Big Shot PRO, which is like two feet long I guess. Sigh. And that's not the first time I just looked at the picture and didn't read the specs! Anyway, I hope you do like the picture in the large size and have a place to hang it!!
Happy WOYWW to you, Shaz, very late, and all good wishes for a wonderful new year! Good luck with your next surgery and your health throughout the coming year!! Hugs, Darnell #49
Hi Shaz - I hope by the time you read this, you and Doug have enjoyed a lovely Christmas, and that it's not wiped you out. Hugs, Chris # 10
I forgot to say, you're VERY naughty, leading me astray!! I've just bought FOUR sets of promarkers - just couldn't resist them at that price! Seriously, thanks for the heads up on those. xx
ROFL Shaz - you've given me a very much needed laugh! That's the sort of thing I would have done. You are not the only one who prefers feet and inches - I am also an Imperial Girl!
I do understand your fatigue and live with this daily - some days so extreme that I spend the day horizontal on the recliner... Not pleasant. I hope your schedule of treatments and surgeries go ahead as planned without any hickups, and that you will soon be functioning normally again. This has been a hard year for you and you have borne up under the strain quite admirably - you are an example to us all in the attitude stakes!
Had a horrible Christmas, with a flu/cold/sick type bug, no appetite for food or anything else, and Mum's behaviour is simply dreadful these days and my threshold for dealing with it is zero. Not sure how much more of this I can put up with... I am hoping for a much better year next year as this one seems to have been one thing after another!!!
Glad you like the soaps, and I am delighted to have encouraged you to the extent that you've got some books! There is loads of help online - Youtube and Pinterest are great, and I've also joined the Soap Makers' Forum which has lots of different sections offering help. Start with melt-and-pour which is easy peasy - I'm not into cold process yet (afraid of messing about with lye!). Look out for really inexpensive moulds and supplies on Ebay, too. I've now collected quite a supply of essential oils and have started getting interested in aromatherapy. So much fun, and so many new things to discover and learn!
Have a very happy New Year and loads of positive and good things to come in 2015 my friend.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #40
I do hope you and yours had a lovely time over the last few days. We sure did! I'm loving post with your extra large canvas! I've done that too. Take care. Zo xx 32
Hope you both had a lovely festive holiday.....and love the canvas story! Easily done....first time I ordered food online a catering sized pack of butter arrived!
