WOYWW #398

Wednesday again, and another link up with Julia at The Stamping Ground.  I did intend having some part started cards for you to have a browse around, but that'll no doubt be later today now, as I'm writing this late on Tuesday, and somehow or other the day just got away from me. I do have a couple of things for you to see, some more of those cheap from China dies for starters. An 8 piece stitched stars set, which cost me a whole £2.95, and a holly wreath die, £1.29.

Then there are a couple of Hobby Art stamp sets- well they had a sale on, it would have been rude not too.

I finally finished that book cover I was altering, there's a full how-I-did-it in the post below.
There's a post below that about shaving foam backgrounds too.

In other news, I finally have a surgery date! It'll be Tuesday 7th of Feb. At last. Can finally get this over and done with. Hopefully. Unfortunately, The Heartlands hospital where I'll have it, has a bit of an unfortunate track record for cancelling ops due to bed shortages. So, not exactly past the post yet!
Well I think that's all from me this week, so I'll be seeing you later.

A funny at the end for you- this really made me smile when I saw it, as my Mum had a cat a few years ago who did just this. She had to make sure she closed the toilet & bathroom doors properly, and also remember to take the kitchen roll off the holder every night, or she came downstairs to this.

starting with the smiles first, that is so funny!
Glad you have got your date, and let's keep our creative fingers crossed it doesn't get cancelled, and that it sorts everything!
Those dies are fab, and what great prices. Having spent a Paperartsy fortune already this week, I am not looking.... Helen #?

Happy WOYWW. I love that book cover - so many juicy layers. I hope your surgery does go ahead on the 7th. I had the opposite problem when I had mine a few years ago - they kept ringing me up with only a few hours notice to go in! Just not possible with animals to sort out etc. Eventually I managed to get a week to sort everything out, and then on the day my surgery was put back a few hours due to an emergency case coming in. Thankfully our cat does not attack the toilet rolls - she thinks the stair carpet is a scratch pad instead! Ali x #7

Glad you finally have your date... that is brilliant news. Hopefully they won't have to cancel it as you have waited so long.

Loving your Chinese dies... I keep thinking what a bargain they are.

Your cover looks amazing too x

Have a lovely week x

Rude indeed, not to avail yourself of those nice stamps and dies too. Hope you will get lots of use from them. Really liking the altered book cover too.

WELL DONE on finally getting a date for surgery and let's hope that your surgery will NOT be postponed. Best of luck for it AND a speedy recovery afterwards too.

A big thank you Shaz for your ideas about storage - I hope you don't mind but I've used your idea of plastic wallets and stocked up on them big time, and also put a link to your blog post.
I love the cheap dies, you get a lot for your money with those stars!
The book you covered is fabulous, I've just gone back and read how you did it and the little 'wrought iron' hinges and lock are so effective - totally gorgeous!
Hope you have a good week,

Hi Shaz all the best with the op date. It can be a bit tough in hospitals as they juggle beds. Love the cover you have achieved a great look and laughed for a good 5 mins as my cat still tries to do this. The caption is perfect.

Waiting for surgery can be SO stressful, so glad you have lots of neat new stamps to keep you creating while you wait. Pretty colours on the finished book cover. Oh yes, one of our fur girls likes to shred toilet paper & scrap paper. ... Mary-Lou #26

Morning Shaz! Lovely stamps, really like the feather ones. I must come back to see how you get one with the 'cheap from China' dies LOL. Love the journal cover. Really hope your surgery goes ahead as planned, fingers crossed they keep to their schedule. And thanks for the funny - cats! who'd have 'em? Happy WOYWW Cindy #25

Hi Shaz, those dies are a fantastic price. I've been meaning to check out the cheap Chinese ones I've seen mentioned on various blogs but just wondered how good they are. I'll be interested to know if they cut as well as the more expensive ones. I like dies but the high price of them often puts me of buying. Nice stamp sets too and your book cover is gorgeous - love the colour, the texture and the decorative details. Really stunning.

We've been seeing in the news that a lot of hospitals are cancelling operations at the moment due to bed shortages - it's appalling really. I won't get on my soapbox, I'm sure you know exactly what, who and why makes me mad!!!

Love the funny :)

Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #21

I had a little dog who loved to unroll TP..he'd never miss the chance with an open door. Have a great week.

Your book cover us just gorgeous! I love it!

I hope your surgery date goes on as planned. That would be a bummer to be all prepared and then not have it over with. I do like the cartoon, my cat is old but when he was young he got into tons of trouble.

Have a good day!

Those dies look great! I love my set of stars. And fun stamps! I don't particularly like clear but they are great to see where one is stamping. Your book cover is fabulous! I haven't done a shaving cream background in ages and I love the shades of blues and purples!
I hope your surgery does not get canceled. And thanks for the kitty exercise pic, what a hoot! Thanks for the visit and I hope you have a great rest of the week!

I had to laugh at the cartoon! We had a rescue cat once, named "Clawdia" who did this! We also had to close the bathroom doors all the time. We think this is why she was in the humane society in the first place! But of course, we wouldn't get rid of her for it. She turned out to be a great cat. Your cover turned out fabulous! I love the blue, and all the different textures and heights. Wonderful! And your new feather stamps - I LOVE feathers (and I'm allergic to them!, they are my downfall - I can't resist buying feather stamps! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #47

Ha! This will be Jan's cats to get revenge for the big old journey!
Really sad and happy to hear about the surgery date...sad about the hospital reputation for beds, and hope that you are feeling as positive as you sound about tgetting ot over with. The wait is just hideous isn't it, you end up being grateful that you can so get it over with! You have over enables with this post, once too often. I need to go look at cheap Chinese dies, I feel hugely that I'm missing out!

Hi Shaz, Just wondering where you get those dies from exactly (not just China!!!) Loving the blue book cover, and the micro beads, they are fun to apply aren't they!!! Thanks for the visit BJ#34

Hi Shaz, I do hope everything works out for your op. the annoying thing is that they do have beds but not enough staff. I go into part of the hospital near us and there are dozens of unused beds while people wait for ops. it's just so unfair. Great new collection of goodies there and look forward to seeing what you do with them. Have a great woyww and thanks for the visit to mine, Angela x 9

Lovely new stash, Shaz - you'll have fun playing with that. As for your surgery date, I do hope you won't get postponed like I did - but at least you are aware that you might be - the first time it happened to me I was devastated because it came as a bolt from the blue. Thank you for your lovely comment - yes, not feeling too bad now but was totally exhausted this evening and had to have a sleep after my baking efforts today! Got to make a pudding tomorrow for something on Sat. and I might make some cupcakes if I've got time and energy! Glad you like my week's efforts. It will be fun to get the mini-books made. I finished that little piece of embroidery tonight.

That cat cartoon is hilarious - we had one that did that, too!! We had another one that could empty a whole box of tissues in short order, too.

Got a bit carried away reading Thursday's review - thank you so much for that.

Hi Shaz, thanks for a really thorough review. You gotta love those cheap dies from China - I've been buying loads of bits from there, all very low-priced items (so as to avoid having to pay any duty and so I am not too worried if it doesn't show up) and so far everything has been fine and only one item didn't show up. Thanks for the tip about the dryer sheet - it's probably cheaper than using waxed paper as well.
Have a wonderful weekend :o) Annie C #53

Hi Shaz. Finally made it to peek at your desk this week. What fun you are having. Those dies from China really seem to do well - have been reading your later post as well as this one. So glad you have the date. It is in the diary, and I will be praying for you both. Thanks for the visit and the thoughts about the picture frames. Tried all the suggestions with no success, then today, Mrs D and I went over to Holland Arms Garden centre. They have a small craft centre. Guess what were sitting on the shelves?! Yes - just the frames I needed. Bought plenty to be going on with and talked to the staff about getting more if I need them. A good visit!
Take care. God bless.
