WOYWW 393- The Almost Christmas edition!

I truly do not know where the last week went, I've only just registered that it's Tuesday evening! Having been the scene of a massive card writing session, my desk is looking pretty untidy, to be fair.
The address book- I've decided it's probably a better idea than scribbling addys onto bits of paper, which I then lose! A few cards to drop in with Pressies, and a box of cards, some of which I still need to write out.

Last weeks little puzzle- what was this in this picture?

Morti got it right- believe it or not, it's the internal gubbins from a hard drive. Those discs are actually what all your data is written onto, and the triangle thingy in the small box is the arm that travels over the disc to read it.

The Birthday book has got as far as having a coat of black Gesso on it. I'm waiting for inspiration to strike now.

A handful of tags I stamped last year- the stamp set is called Winter Birds, by Inkadinkado. Stamped in Pearl Blue Brilliance, and heat embossed with Stampendous Crystal EP.

I must show you these, sentiment dies by Crealies. They are small, but a lovely simple font, and they were £3.75 each. Actually Euros, not Pounds, but more or less equal. She's got quite  a selection on her site, and considering they came from Holland, I ordered last Tuesday, and got them on Saturday.

And finally, the lights that go up in my craft room window every year. I was surprised when I saw this, as the last time I photographed them, they came out looking blue, when in fact they really are purple.
So, thats it from this desk, I'll be linking up with Julia at The Stamping Ground in a while.

Your lights are gorgeous. They look purple to me! My address book is full of extra bits of loose paper I dread dropping it... mine are all in the post now. Just need to wrap (and buy one last one) gifts and make some tags.. love yours! Helen #?

oh, and forgot to say, would not have guessed at the contents of the box. but will make some great mixed media project!!

The lights certainly look purple.
As for addresses, I have a list on my computer - easily altered and serves well as a check list for cards sent so I don't duplicate. Although I might have! Only problem is I have made several of these lists over the years and the problem is finding the current one - there are a couple of names I don't even know! Go figure!
Great bargain with the Crealies - I have used a Crealie die to make two 'special' cards - but they need finishing before I can reveal and now I would like to make a third for someone but it takes so long ...

Your chrissy lights look beautiful and the owl tags are lovely as well. I would never of guessed what all those metal bibs and bobs were originally. But I definitely was wanting to have a rummage through the box. Have a lovely week.

I love the tags - that owl stamp is beautiful. I'm also loving the purple lights - very unusual and not something I've seen before.
Hope you have a good week,

Happy WOYWW. I love those lights. I have a little light-up 'twig tree' in one of my craft room windows. I will start lighting it when we finally get the tree/decorations up downstairs. So many cards/tags etc. I only made 5 cards this year, and even getting presents into gift bags when possible to save on the wrapping. I get less festive every year! Ali x #25

Your lights are beautiful! (I do have a Christmas banner on my craft room door.) That's the first time I seen a hard drive in pieces. Looks like some great parts to incorporate into something. And a black gesso cover,,,, hmmm. Those tine dies look interesting, too!
Hope you have a wonderful week!

hahaha I have never taken apart a hard drive, just removed them from old computers to have them smooshed in a press. ( too much sensitive data on them) Ooh, I was writing out my envelopes last night and digging through piles of scraps of paper. (and I cross my fingers I got the most recent addressees on them all) so, I told my self today I would be making a new and improved address book lol. ( we'll see if it really happens)

Oooh! Pretty star lights! What a nice thing to have in your craft room! my only Christmas decorations are all the Christmas stamps strewn around, and the glitter that seems to follow me everywhere! Your tags are lovely - nice to have them all finished ahead of time! I never would have guessed what all those piles of metal things were! Thanks for sharing! Lindart #35

Oh they look purple to me too. Mind, that might be because I think I know you'd choose purple! I had no idea about the hard drive and gubbins....we don't progress much further than the record player then in terms of design for the playback of the data! I've finally got round to writing some cards at a last, but tags are definitely a bit behind. Just as well I didn't make any and put them aside last year, I most definitely wouldn't be able to find them now! I expect inspiration for the book cover will come in the middle of Christmas dinner, or at some difficult to excuse yourself point in the holiday!!!

Yay! I won something for a change! LOL (does a happy dance). I knew working for an electronics manufacturer would eventually pay off. Two years after I left...

Love the star lights, and the dies, and the owl stamp.

The birthday book really needs some gothic candles on it....

Oh, and you did make me chuckle. The ornaments I bought the Santa hats for are two wizards, a fairy and a pixie. Not baubles. How funny that at this time of year ornaments takes a completely different primary context!

Thanks for stopping by.

I wish I was clever with mixed media. I found a fab hard back book in a charity shop - new, but crying out for a lovely bit of crafty work on the cover. Guess I might have to get my dumfer out instead. x Jo
