WOYWW #374

Well at least I have my days right this week. Here I am, to link up with Julia, at The Stamping Ground, for our regular snoop around the worlds desks.
So what have I been up to? Well, there are some Christmas cards (again!), in the post below this, and an experiment in making my own glitter embossing paste two posts down. That came out really well, by the way.

First off I have to say a huge Thank You to Lisca, (Scrapping Cavewoman) for a lovely envelope full of goodies she sent me.She does an awesome decorated envelope, and the postage stamp is incredible.

Here are the goodies in all their glory- decoupage pieces, ephemera of all sorts,a great postcard of a flamenco dancer, rub on tattoos- all sorts of wonderful bits.

On my desk right now, a journal. I've been logging all those wonderful colour blends & combos you see on Pinterest. Yes, I have them pinned there, but the problem is that every time I go to have a look at them, to find one to use, I get distracted- well it is Pinterest- and then pouff! a couple of hours have vanished.

So, I thought I'd put them down on paper, then I can keep it in my desk drawer.

I don't like to print them off, as printer ink/monitor settings etc frequently changes the colours too much for my liking.

I also had a bit of a go at making some blends of my own.

I tried using some of the colours not used so much in the original ones.
It's not always easy to be sure which particular combo of colours will work as well on paper as they do in your head- that has come out badly sometimes.

Then I though while I was at it, I'd log a swatch of each colour in colour families in the back.

It's funny, we always think of Tims colours favouring the grungy browns, but there are actually more greens than any other colour, browns included.

Only by one,11 greens to 10 browns. If I'd included Peacock Feathers, which I see as a greeny-blue, it would be 12.

And, going back to Pinterest- when did they do that sneaky change? Sometime Tuesday afternoon, for sure, 'cos it was the 'normal' Pinterest when I used it around lunchtime, then, Tuesday evening, we have a whole new look.
I'm quite sure I don't like the size of the font they've chosen for your boards- it's so large, you only see half the title! Ok, I'm done, so I'll see you later, have a great Wednesday.

I just wish these sites would stop mucking about. I agree with you on Pinterest - preferred it as it was.
Impressive work on colour there Shaz do you find it helps when choosing colours or not?
Keep up the good work with the C Cards. You might even spur me on to start early.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx

Well....this is spooky. I have also been trawling through my distress colours to pick up possible colour combinations. So far I have found some interesting combos - and that some colours go with more then others (worn lipstick matching with nearly all the blues and wilted violet goes with loads too!) I am going to put them on an excel sheet and then try them out. I will also try out your idea - which is brilliant. Thank you.
Warm regards

Morning Shaz. Colour charts - a great and helpful idea. So much easier than scrambling through each box or drawer of goodies each time we want a colour. An incredible parcel of goodies from Lisca. What a lovely treat. I expect I shall hear of the Pinterest changes from daughter number 2 when she gets home. I have a feeling she spends hours on there...
Take care. god bless.

Am also frustrated at moment as for some reson - unknown to me I can't just tap on the FB icon on my phone and get it! Dunno what I've done. Lovely stuff received from Lisca! Great colour play - I also enjoy making colour charts. It also helps with my purchases when other people post theirs - so you know what sort of colours you get in certain products. Though it's true that digital settings can change the real colours. Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #21

Great idea! I love Pinterest but have to be strict with myself as, like you say, time flies by! It's a great tool though for inspiration. In fact both my wrist tattoos are from there! Thanks for sharing. Take care Zo xx 25

Great colour play there Shaz. I don't think anything has changed on my Pinterest pages - or maybe I am not very observant in the first place! lol xx

There is something very satisfying and beautiful seeing colours laid out in journals or on tags. An art work in itself. Have a lovely week and yes a couple of hours can vanish while on the pinterest portal. I didn't even notice it changed!!

Great pressie!
I'm with you about logging all the colours etc. My stamps file was brill for sorting out which stamps to use on one of my last swaps, soooo easy to sit there flicking through pages and then go straight to the stamp.

I'm glad you liked the bits and pieces I sent you. I'm sure you can use the tattoos on surfaces other than skin. I just liked the design and thought you might like them too.
I haven't seen the changes on Pinterest yet. Will have a look right now.
I haven't post on WOYWW for the simple reason that I have no workdesk at the moment. Very soon though I will be taking posession of my new craft room. Whoopie!
Have a good week,
Lisca

I like your colour blending! Does that mean you get to make up your own titles for them too. I can help...how's about Bogey Green, Old Plimsoll Grey, Cow Sludge brown. Do I get the job??! And don't get me started on Marvy Le Plume - I still think that would make a great stripper's name....
Oh and btw, Diana really wants to meet you - we'll have to arrange something!

Shaz, you're a woman after my own heart, with your love for experimenting! I love these colour charts, partly because they are so organised and such a brilliant idea, and partly because they are so wonderfully colourful, and a work of art in their own right.

I agree about Pinterest - I'm an addict too!! I haven't looked at it for a day or two so am not aware of a change to the site so I'll have to hop over and have a look.

Thank you for your lovely comment, and I entirely agree about physios. My experience of them has been wonderful, too. And OTs! They seem to have time for you, unlike the doctors, and really listen and try to make your life better in any way they can.

Glad you like the mother of pearl experiments. I can't wait to share the project, which I have now finished, and though I say it myself, I am very pleased with it and will be sad to part with it!

Happy WOYWW, and hugs to you both,
Shoshi x

Its because the browns came first - the seven shades of wee wee phase as I like to call it! You have an impressive collection I must say, I expect the colurs blend differently on different papers too...this could be a long research project. Not going to mention the Christmas cards. Except to say how lovely they are.
