WOYWW #350

Good Morning folks, and here we are with yet another Wednesday prowl around the worlds desktops.Click on the WOYWW badge in my sidebar to be whisked off to our leaders home, The Stamping Ground. Nothing particularly exciting here, just a sheet of Ryns texture/background stamps being coated with glue. I've swapped my glue this time round, I'm trying out the Tombow Multi. Previously I've used Aileenes Tack it Over & Over, but I'm having mixed results, to be honest. I've so far tried 3 different dilutions, 50:50, 60:40 and finally 70:30. At 50:50 I've had some stamps that stayed quite happily on their carrier sheets, others just kept dropping off. So tried 60:40, and it's better, but still not totally reliable. The 70:30 is too strong, they are hard to peel of the carrier sheet, and leave a residue. So I'm giving the Tombow a try. So far, seems good. I will let you know how this pans out.
The Ryn sheet, you may notice, has another of the raindrops backgrounds on it. It is similar to the others, but on this one the raindrops are going in the opposite direction, so it's not exactly the same. Cards I've been working on are in the two posts below this, a Valentines for Beloved Hubby, and a Birthday card for Youngest Son, whose birthday is also Valentines Day. So thats me for today, I hope everyone is having some decent weather wherever you are, and I'll be round to visit shortly.
We will be having a holiday at the end of April. Hubby has been keen to organise one for us, as he thinks we deserve a break, and I can't say I disagree. Anyway, he thought a cruise would be ideal, so I get plenty of lazing around time, and we have a 7 day one booked, which sails from Tenerife, visiting Portugal, then Gibraltar, then two ports in Spain, before we fly home from Majorca. It also includes two days at sea. We fly out to Tenerife on the 26th April, and fly home on the 3rd of May.

Love those background stamps, including the new raindrops (although, surprise surprise; I haven't used the others much...) Your cruise sounds lovely, and just what you both need.

I agree about just making the backs of the stamps sticky I used Aileens tacky but it's crazy tacky I just got lazy aND used a piece of double sided tape on my block easy to clean that way. Such lovely bg stamps those raindrops look fab

Lovely stamps Shaz! You so deserve your cruise and you will thoroughly enjoy. We went with Thompson 2 years ago and have booked another for this year. They really do take all the strain and you can just relax. Do some research about your ports of call tho before you go cos sometimes you can get yourselves to the places without paying to go on the organised (expensive) tours.
Have a happy week

The cruise sounds just what the doctor ordered for you two. Enjoy and recuperate fully, charge your batteries, have a great time.
Love those Ryn stamps but have to confess that I never used mine. I think I need to remedy that pretty darned quick.

I love those stamps - the textures are lovely, especially the piece of lace, it looks real! The cruise sounds wonderful, it will be the ideal way to relax and re-charge your batteries, and it's something to look forward to during these grey, wet winter days! Happy WOYWW,

so the glue is to glue them on a acrylic block without the EZmount? I just bought a set of raindrops, love them! Vicky#7

I only use EZ mount and find that does the job every time. Your card from the previous post is gorgeous. Your cruise sounds wonderful I can't believe you would go to so many different countries in seven days. Have a lovely weeek.

Doug definitely had the right idea! A cruise will be perfect for you both.
I love Ryn's stamps, so much thought goes into them.

Love your cards from your previous post - lucky husband and son!

Holidays. Yup it's time to think about that again. Sounds like you're getting one really soon. Bet it will be good to get away. We're going to wait until it warms up a bit before we plan one. I get to come visit my Mum each year but I'm not sure when yet. I think we'll go away while I've over as it is her only chance to get away.

Love those raindrops!! The glue stuff was a bit technical for me.... I just use a tape runner, naughty I know!! Great to hear you've booked your cruise - have managed to get 4 breaks booked for this year - first one is tenerife in a coupleof weeks. Can't wait! Happy WOYWW, Cindy #38

Have a wonderful holiday - it sounds awesome! I just use simple glue stick on the backs of my red rubber, and then wash it off right after. It doesn't stick anywhere, obviously, but I keep them in an envelope, so it doesn't really matter. I have tried Aleens and well, and didn't like it either.

I look at those neekid rubber stamps and always wonder how people store them actually. I used to just leave piece of double sided tape on my blocks and stick the rubber to that but, having heaps of rubber I always assumed they were going to get dented in a wrong way so, I ended up putting cling foam on them. ( so they stick to their storage boxes) but, the glue coating looks like it would take up so much less room...
Oh Boy the trip sounds like just what you all need :)

Nice to have some new stamps. Enjoy your cruise, it sounds fantastic - we did the eastern med a few years ago, a really enjoyable and relaxing type of holiday.

The background stamps are very interesting. I scrolled down to see your artsy cards, and I really like the one you made for your son with the use of positive and negative space. Happy WOYWW!

Hi Shaz,

Oh, I love cruising! In June we are doing the Inside Passage in Alaska. I've done this one before but my friend hasn't. Did you read my post about the Hawaii cruise I was on in November?

I love the raindrop stamp. I can just imagine the great coloring job you'll do on it.

Thank you for visiting me already!
Happy belated WOYWW

I love those stamps, Shaz, and instantly recognised the water droplets one, and didn't realise she'd brought out another one going in the opposite direction! I've got the original, and also I got a couple more not long ago in the water droplets series. They are so amazing! If you stamp with archival ink over a water-based background, you can take a wet brush and carefully lift the ink/paint from behind each droplet, and then add a tiny catchlight with a white gel pen, and the absolutely leap off the page and look so realistic!

So glad the 2 of you are going on a nice cruise. For various reasons we are unable to get away for the foreseeable future but we are looking forward to what we hope will be a quiet, uneventful year when we can get out and about and have outings from home rather than going away. You are ALWAYS welcome to come and visit! We'd love to see you. I will never forget how you helped and encouraged me last time you came, which was just about a year ago, just before I was due to have my surgery, and you took a lot of the fear out of it for me.

It is so great to have my creative mojo back and to be able to do some art again! I've been so busy this past fortnight that I haven't done as much as I'd have liked but hopefully next week will be quieter. Hop over to my blog to see the latest - chemo cakes and some really cute photos of Beatrice, and other stuff!!

All the very best for your upcoming appointments and I hope the results of the scan will be only good news! Isn't it nice how pleased the nurses always are to see us? Last time I was on Ricky Grant having my port flushed, there was a positive whoop of joy as I came in! It was sooo nice. I'm really looking forward to seeing them all again tomorrow.

Have a great week. Happy belated WOYWW,

Hi Shaz, love all those background stamps you've got there. They are the sort of stamps that are useful for all sorts of projects. I use Stick & Spray from Crafter's Companion to make the backs of my stamps tacky. The cards you made for your husband and son are fabulous - I'm sure they were well received too. Many thanks for your comment and the advice re the camera. I hadn't thought that the memory card could what's causing the problem so I will get a new one and see ... fingers crossed that will sort it out :) Your cruise sounds exciting though I have never been on a cruise ... I have an issue with all that water!!! Have a great weekend. Hugs, Elizabeth x #41

Your cruise sounds so relaxing! I gave up on glue for my unmounteds and went to a Tack n Peel way. I have a separate set of blocks that have the TNP on it and then I store them either loose in old VHS cases, or I line cd cases with the TNP. Depends on stamp size, really, as to which. I just could not deal with the glue residue, always peeling it off, lol. I keep all of my photostamps unmounted, as I get a better print by laying stamp down facing up and then putting paper down on stamp. I think these dilemmas are the hardest part of stamping, everyone really needs to find their own way with it. Hope the Tombow works, then you will have yours! xoxo
