WOYWW#346

Well this weeks desk mainly revolves around why I ought to clean my desk more often!
Last week I'd been glittering some NOEL die-cuts, and today I decided I really, really needed to get rid of the stray glitter thats everywhere.
In the process of moving stuff on my desk in order to clean, I found these, under my UFO tub, which I'll show in a minute. They are Brusho experiments, and I'd clearly stacked them up and put them under said UFO box to flatten. And promptly forgot about.

This is the UFO box, and it gets all sorts stuffed into it. Things that didn't work, or went wrong somehow, leftovers, things I'm not sure where to go next with, and so on and on.

This is just a small handful of the UFO's it holds- some things need finishing, others are there to be cut up- like the Baubles done in Gold Flake. It just didn't work, not sure why, I've had more detailed images come out fine, so I may have to try it again. But, I can punch squares out of it, and have some mosaic Christmas cards, combined with other stuff.I could get myself a whole bunch of cards done here, if I get myself doing something to finish these off.So thats going to be my project for the rest of the week, I think. See what I can make from this little lot, and empty the box a bit.
If you're not sure what WOYWW is, then click on the button in my sidebar, and by the magic of the Internet you'll be whisked off to Julia's, at The Stamping Ground, where all will be revealed- and it's all done in the best possible taste!

Love the UFO's and had a smile at your finding the Brusho samples. The reason for that is that I used them in my workshop on Sunday and found it took ages to wipe up the blue staining on the worktop (which didn't show up).
It is a dark brown top so it wouldn't show but I can just imagine someone sitting to eat something and ending up with blue arms.
Have a nice day - and a good week
Hugs, Neet 2 xx

I'm glad to see someone else has a UFO box, Shaz. It's really satisfying to create things out of it isn't it and sometimes going back to something months later can really spark inspiration. Have fun!!

Ah, dear old Cupid Stunt - I miss her ;-)
You're doing a great job trawling through your Unfinished box - it must be a good feeling finishing something off that had been lingering. Actually, that sounds like a plot for a zombie film. See, you're multi-tasking :-)

I love what you have done with the Brushos, my Mum is just getting into them and they are so pretty! I have a UFO section on the desk and rarely go abck to it, think your idea is brilliant, just go through it and make something new out of all the bits! Happy Wednesday to you! Annette #31

Your Brusho pieces are really lovely..so vibrant. Made me LOL.. your memory proves my craft desk theory - out of sight, out of mind! Super impressed at your UFO box, to be honest, its a lesson - your saving and re-using what I would have thrown away...

Great brusho experiments, Shaz! I've got some too out of curiosity but I haven't done much with them yet. Other than trying to turn them into alcohol inks, which didn't work. The UFO box is a great idea - I should adopt it, instead of having them scattered all over the place! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #38

It's like finding buried treasure, those brusho scraps. I have a drawer full of that sort of thing - I just need to find the time to make something with them. I'll be watching to see what you do LOL!

Love your UFO box, and that you are going to do something with the contents. I have a small basket, a scrapbook page container, and a drawer; instead of finding another container, I should join you and actually go through and a\start re-purposing them. And I love the brusho backgrounds! Have fun with those too!
Have a great week.

Pleased to see I'm not the only one who forgets there are test pieces lurking. I have masterboards and test pieces under my work mat that often get forgotten but can come in useful when I need something quick. Happy crafty WOYWW, Angela x 29

Yeah all the glitter and sparkle can get a bit much can't it? Especially when you are not a particularly glittery or sparkly type of gal ... which I am not but sometimes the stuff just has to come into play! Used Gilding Flakes for the first time on Sunday at the workshop ... EEEK!!!!!! Shall have to try them again sitting quietly in the peace and privacy of my own workspace and try and redeem the total hash I made of them! Shall be out with the Brushos once the cards on my desk are done ... making A4 backgrounds which I am cutting into narrower strips to be the base of this year's cards. Get in an awful mess but hey-ho ... all good fun. Happy WOYWW'ing to you dear Shaz. Love Debbie #55 xXx

So should we check back next week and see if you accomplished making things from the UFO box or not? You know we are a forgiving crowd so even if you don't we'll still love you. I bought a nice box with a lid for UFOs, filled it up and set it aside and never looked at it again.... sometime early last year? Late 2014? Maybe I should look at it? Or maybe I should keep it as a time capsule and open it in another 20 years. PJ #57

Hi Shaz, When I looked at your box of UFOs it didn't look like a lot all tucked neatly away. I take that back. I think you've got work on your hands, there's loads!!! I'm sure you'll have lots of fun using them up and the brusho pieces look lovely by the way. Have a lovely week. Barbxx #54

those backgrounds look fabulous :) I am playing around with the idea of taping things down when wet hoping for more flat ness when dry but, I have not gotten
around to trying that yet. :) ~Stacy #59

Luv the UFO box. I'm afraid I have way too many UFO boxes, and boxes with empty boxes inside them as well. I am currently trying to get a handle on the tendency to hang onto anything that might be useful tomorrow. LOL.

Thanks for sharing

I had to laugh, Shaz - you doing all thoe Brusho experiments and then forgetting them! I'll allow you the excuse of post-surgery or chemo brain lol! I'm away with the fairies half the time! You certainly are climbing back up now, and I am full of admiration - you have been doing it a lot faster than me! Thank you for your lovely comment which was really encouraging. I think you are right. After everything we both have been through, there is bound to be a reaction once it's over and we're in the recovery phase. It's a big adjustment, and someone on the stoma forum I'm on called it "surviving survival" which expressed it very well, I thought. People can't understand why I wasn't leaping around whooping for joy at my all-clear verdict but I needed time to process it. I'm a lot better now, and I think that the return of my mojo is an indication of that, too. We are both going to be fine now, I am sure, and are looking forward to a much more normal year where we can really start to enjoy Nicholas' retirement and get our life back! I am sure you feel the same way.

Happy WOYWW, and love and hugs to you two, too,

I think we can all identify with a UFO box and discoveries when you move things on the said desk. The brushos seem to have an amazing intensity in their colours and it will be interesting to see what evolves.

Love your brusho backgrounds, Shaz! Reminds me I need to sit and play with my own ink sprays and brushos to get some backgrounds ready. It's handy to have these waiting for me to do something fun with! Just the act of sorting thru these pieces gets my imagination going....
