WOYWW #343- The New Year Edition.

Hello folks, I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, and we both want to wish everyone a peaceful, healthy, happy and successful New Year.
Sad news this week for all us Metalheads, with the death of the great Lemmy from Motorhead. The man had a voice that sounded as though it was raised on 60 Marlborough and a bottle of JD a day! The band urged fans to play Lemmy's music loud and "have a drink or few", saying: "Celebrate the life this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
"He would want exactly that."
Apparently, he only had his cancer diagnosis two days before he died, and I read that it was in his neck and brain.
So I will indeed be having a JD and coke, or two, for the great man tonight.
Now, onto more cheerful things:
This awesome frame was a gift from our own super talented Debbie (Tattered Rocks).

There is so much detail in it, and just how glittery is that? Here's a close up:

Debbie, it's fabulous, we love it. Thank you so much.

Marg, (Silvercrafter) sent us this, a card mounted onto a canvas board. The detail is amazing, so many hours of work gone into this. Again, thank you Marg.

Youngest son Mikey bought me a Hobbycrafts gift card, so Monday saw a trip there. As you can see, a few bits and pieces-some card blanks, a couple of paper pads that were on sale, a nice silver and white dotty ribbon, a stamp saying ' Keep Calm and Craft On'- I can see that getting some use!. A date stamp, which was really cheap, only £3.50. Closer look at the paper packs here:

I like the 8x8 size, very useful, and the pack below only has a couple of really Christmassy papers, the others I can use all year. Love the owls (left) in the bottom right corner!

Still not a big fan of Hobbycrafts, they seem to be reducing the stuff they carry for stamping/papercrafting everytime I go in. They have loads of art materials, scrapbooking, knitting/sewing, beading and even cakecraft, but stamping etc seems to be getting edged out.It seems like they are trying to carry a bit from a lot of ranges, and it ends up a bit lacking, I felt. I think they could do with opening up some communication with stamp manufacturing companies, especially here in the UK, and get some more brands stocked.
So that's me for now, I'll be around to visit later on, have a lovely Wednesday folks. Link up with Julia, over at The Stamping  Ground, and come play.

Lovely gifts. That frame is amazing. Looks like a good haul from the craft store. You are right, the big stores don't carry the stamps I like and want. Happy Mew Year.

Nice goodies! I like the papers.

It was sad news about Lemmy. How quickly from diagnosis to death. Very sad.

I send you best wishes for a Happy New Year. Last year started out not good but got better as we went along. My Mum beat her cancer, her strength (and her hair!) is growing back and she is in remission. I hope it will continue in 2016!

Hi there Shaz. What beautiful gifts - that frame is something else! I do trust you and Doug have had a very special Christmas time together. If you are up for a trip to Hobbycraft it sounds like you are doing really well. That's so special after all you have both been through this past year.
Thanks so much for your visit and thoughts. We have had a very special time together - and it was particularly good to have the whole family here for three days - if crowded, noisy and chaotic! They are a good bunch - One of our sons in law even hovered through for us before leaving today! Good hey??
Take care my friend into 2016. God bless.

Hi Shaz, in mourning, with my grandson and granddaughter, for Lemmy too. So sad to lose such a talent so soon. The frame is such a work of art - something to treasure always. And what a lovely thoughtful gift from your son. No Hobbycraft near me so I will have to look elsewhere for the seriously great stamp :) I'd like to wish you a Healthy, Prosperous and Happy New Year - may 2016 bring you all you wish for you and yours! Hi Shaz, I agree with you about Hobbycraft they appear to have had more Papercrafting stuff but the shelves are half empty where it should be. You have obviously trained Mikey well, what a lovely son. Sending you happy New Year hugs, Angela xXx 16

Sad about Lemmy; it won't be JD, but we'll be raising a glass to his indefatigable spirit. Something you're familiar with Miss Shaz. I think Hobby craft suffer from central ordering...when something goes out of stock, it's replaced with the same thing by head office of its replaced at all..they probably only have a certain time to sell before they're not considered worth replacing. I'm sure that a keen stamper in each store could change all that!
I wish you a healthy and happy new year.. You've come so far this year, 2016 will be a break! Love to you both. Xx

Sad news indeed on the music front, not only Lemmy but also John Bradbury from The Specials. A good excuse for a few snifters and getting the vinyl out!
Some lovely presents there...let Doug know I took his advice and carved a misfortune figure last night and will blog about it over the next few days

Love shopping when given a gift card! Got my eye on those blue paper packs! Thank you for stopping and leaving a comment earlier. While I'm running late I am enjoying a leisure day of visiting everyone's posts. Happy New Year!

You certainly got some lovely handmade gifts - they are the best aren't they?
Not to say that the gift card was not welcome - I would have loved one but I think my son thinks I have enough/too much craft stuff so he buys me hampers. (and booze!!) Hope that made you smile.
Happy New Year to you two
Hugs, Neet xx
