WOYWW #320

There's another week just flashed by- Wednesday again. And finally, there is some crafting on my desk. There has been very little going on of late, a lot of video watching/blog reading/ tutorial watching along with supply buying, but I really haven't had the creative get up and go. However, I twisted my arm, and decided to get the Brushos out and see what they could do. I'll do a proper post with all my pics tomorrow, but for now this is what my desk looked like, after a clean-up, on Tuesday night.
And yes, Lynda B, that snowflake die is a result of your enabling abilities last week!

These tryouts are on canvas sheets, from a pad I bought in The Works.
And these ones are on watercolour paper- I bought some at last Novembers Hobbycrafts at the NEC- smooth watercolour paper, and the pads were two for the price of one.

I said my desk after a clean up- here's why. See all the colour over the back of my desk? That desk is 2ft 6" wide, and the misting blasted the grains of powder that far, so give yourself plenty of space when using them.I had to get the kitchen cleaner spray on it to shift it.

Oh yes, my hands. Apparently ( I discovered this a bit late) it's advisable to wear gloves when using them. You don't say? This is two days later, and you really don't want to know what my nails look like. As for cleaning it off, I've tried it all. And trust me, they look far more vibrant in real life!

So that's my submission for this weeks desk hop, courtesy of Julia over at The Stamping Ground.

I'll be round later on in the day, to see what you've all been up to.

Lolol....your hands made me laugh out loud this morning!! I'm sure it'll fade......in time :-)
I like the effect those Brushos give...I bet you enjoyed just splashing the colour around like that. It's great not to have to be precise. Will you use them for card backgrounds or something?

Hi Shaz OOpps! Sorry hun, but I bet you have fun with you new die! Don't forget to share what you do with them. Looks like you had a really fun time with your Brushos. I'd have to take them outside if my efforts with Dylusions sprays are anything to go by! Are you going to use them as backgrounds?
Have a happy week

I can vouch for hand staining using those Brusho's but aren't they wonderful! I even tried the Ranger Scrubbit but the stain still stayed. Shampooing hair didn't have much effect either. lol
Look forward to seeing what you do with those canvasses. Keep busy over the next few days if you can.
Thinking of you

I can cope with the stained skin, but the filthy nails take some explaining don't they!I didn't know that brushos involved powder...will probably be enabled by your evaluation post! meanwhile, have got to say that the colours are lovely, and how clever of you to find smooth watercolour paper and think ahead enough to buy some!!

I love Brushes and I'm happy that, like so many techniques, it has come back round again. I first used them in the late 80s then again a few years ago. Love your results. Try using them with spray starch too ( see button on my side bar).

Brusho colours are fab - even if they do leave you with "green fingers". Jo's tip with starch sounds interesting. x Jo

I have to google Brushos.....I use homemade spray inks, made with gel food colours. They really stain too, and the spray does get everywhere. ;) I've learned to put a good stretch of parchment paper under my work. The overspray makes a great base for underpaper to use in art journaling. I also stamp off my stamps on this underpaper, wipe paint off my brushes on it before cleaning them, ink the edges of paper on top of the underpaper ---- the end result is beautiful, actually. Have a great week. Still sending knee-mail for you....

Such lovely vibrant colours.....on the cards, of course! I find the best thing is a home made sugar scrub, but no doubt you've tried that already. Hope it fades away soon.

Well, I bought some brushos a while ago, and I still haven't had time to try them out... but when I do, I'll certainly try to remember to cover up the whole floor! I usually don't bother with my fingers, sometimes they are pink, sometimes green -and no-one has said anything about it yet :) Happy woyww!

Yes, I have since heard about the stain ability of Brushos which crosses them right off the list of things I might try. I just can't do messy with a chance of staining. I'll bet your hands look real pretty though! Your vibrant backgrounds are really neat. Judy #51

I love my new Brushos... The effects are so fun and easy. I never wear gloves when crafting and can end up with interesting hands sometimes... Can recommend the Ranger Scrubbie ... It works on cleaning the skin, the nails you just have to live with.

Thanks for visiting earlier.

Canvas sheets at the works! Well I know what I'm picking up next shopping trip. The experiments all look fab and yes I'm the same with mists always forgetting how far they spread. Michelle x

Hi Shaz thanks for visiting! You have achieved some amazing rich colours with the Brushos - must get mine out and try again. Did you use a lot of water to get that effect? I'll be sure to spread out a load of newspapers before I have a go! Ali XX

Brilliant results there Shaz! I haven't had mine long but I love them - I'm a member of the multi -coloured hand gang - don't like crafting in gloves! I have found that spraying the mister up in the air over the Brushos first as it starts the progress slowly, then mist directly without the blow back! Chrisx ps Thanks for visiting! X

The intensity of Brusho colours looks amazing and I quite like inked hands/fingers. JenniferMaGuireink.com did a tutorial on Brusho's and I was surprised at how little she sprinkled of the crystals to get amazing colours. If you get a chance have a look at the lovely cards she made, I think it was around early june she posted the video. I have so many watercolours that I am not buying Brusho's or gelatos. Must use what I have is the mantra I chant. Although I am starting to get a liking for dies that I see on woyww desks :)
have a lovely week.

Hi Shaz, you're certainly getting brilliant colour with those Brushos. I've decided not to be them cos they are way too dear Downunder and have so many colouring mediums to play with that simply don't use enough, but think this is very wonderful will be fun too.. With gloves... Must confess I am slack at remembering those.
I'm praying fro you, dear friend. Happy WOYWW, thanks for popping over, Shaz in Oz.x #20

Love your hands, Shaz. The sign of a real crafter. Mine seem to look like that permanently, although I have to scrub them before going to work so at least they are nearly presentable!!!!!
Love the colours you've created with the Brushos, they are so vibrant aren't they. I love playing with mine.
Thanks for popping by earlier. You don't want any shaving foam do you? lol
