WOYWW #318

So here it is, the after holiday edition! We had a fabulous 10 days in Crete, coming home just as the cash crisis started kicking in. This was the view from our balcony- glorious.

We hired a quad bike, and had a few days exploring the island.

One thing I did struggle with was the heat- and walking any distance. Spent most of my time gasping for air like a fish out of water.

A great many cocktails were harmed in the enjoying of this holiday! This particular bar was especially ace- cocktails were buy one, get one free.

My poor neglected desk only contains some stuff that arrived whilst we were away. Nice to come home to some goodies.

A few Tim Holtz stencils, and one from Paper Artsy (thank you for the enabling, Helen, lol).
I thought I might try my hand at some art journalling in the near future, so these seemed like a good start. I've also been acquiring some Tim Holtz Distress Stains, and I already have a drawer full of assorted Acrylic paints.

Visible Image released some new stamps the day we were going away, so I ordered these before we left.  Beloved Hubby is a big Zombie fan!

Got these number stamps really cheap on E-bay.

The colouring book was from the Works, and I got some Black Gesso, and some multi-medium online.

So thats the desk- I'm still waiting now for an appointment to see the specialist at the QE. He will definitely be the one doing the surgery, apparently, because it's attached to my tailbone, its major, major surgery. Trust me eh? Never do anything by halves! It also means Sid will end up being permanent- not my perfect solution, but better than the alternative. I've updated my cancer page, with a full explanation of why, if anyone wants to full info. So, you can leave now and check out more desks around the world, courtesy of our lovely leader, Julia, at The Stamping Ground. I will leave you with a few more holiday pics, if you have the time to spare. :).

It's a pint mug of Coke, honestly!

Warning: Man eating Octopus.

Man enjoying the sunshine.

This was the view coming down a mountain road- a bit hairy on a quad bike, with no guard rails around the hairpin bends.

Just look at the size of the flower spike on that Aloe!

A hungry Hubby waiting for his dinner.

This was the view from the restaurant we were sat in.

I am sure all that sunshine and the cocktails (you must be pickled by now) have set you up in readiness for your op.
Thoughts, prayers and heaps of love are with you as you prepare and go for your surgery. Hope you have someone ready to keep us up to date with how you go on once it is all happening.

Marvellous - everywhere you look theres a view and everywhere there's a fabulous sky, so glad you had such a good escape. Loved following the cocktail choices on FB! Wasnt able to get commenting on the puny broadband last week, but loved you pics of Download. Apart from the mud. But its all a gamble here, huh!
I hope you don't have to wait to much longer, I'm pretty sure the mental stability is always shaken by the waiting. That of course depends entirely on whether you have any mental stability.

Sounds like you two had fun (and a LOT of cocktails!). Things are getting tough out there though. And that Helen really is an enabler.... HAppy WOYWW Cindy #24

DearShaz thanks so much for popping over already and so glad you posted today, looked a few days back but must have been too early.
So glad you had a really enjoyable holiday away a apart fro the heat, it can be enervating can't it?? And good you eat the credit crises too, think it will be hard for them.
Those stencils look really great, and pray for your sake that you get a date ASAP for the surgery, and also pray for wisdom and understanding, beyond measure for the surgeon and all who are caring for you dear Shaz. I actually found it hard to work out where your updates are on your cancer page. Wasn't on computer thoguh. Maybe that's it,
Happy WOYWW, thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #5

Thanks for sharing those fabulous photos! I love that I get to see the wonderful places that deskers get to. Greece does look absolutely beautiful. The HH and I drove through the Superstition Mountains in Arizona. the roads are switch-back and so I know what you mean about hairpin turns!! Great new stash for you, too. I look forward to snooping at your art journaling. ;) I must say that I'm having fun with it. Off to check out your cancer page update. Happy WOYWW, and do have fun with your new playthings.

Hi Shaz. I've enjoyed seeing your holiday pics on Facebook and am glad now that you are all recharged in readiness for the next big challenge you have to face. I really hope all goes well at the hospital and they get your surgery done asap. Stay positive and give your body time to recover well....we will all be rooting for you along the way and sending you lots of positive vibes that your surgeon works his miracle.
Big hugs,

Hi Shaz, love all your holiday shots both here and on Facebook ... it's been fun keeping up with your exploits on a quad bike. If I ever go to Crete, I'll be sure to persuade the EM to hire one too :) And how nice to come back to some crafty goodies - love the look of those stencils. Caught up with your cancer diary too. I can identify with the need to always be within shouting distance of a toilet - it's a different condition but the effect is the same!!! Hope your appointment comes through soon and that you are whipped in for surgery 'toot sweet' ... the sooner it's over the better :) Hugs, Elizabeth x #36

Hi Shaz so glad you had a brilliant holiday & tried to pump cash back into the Greek economy via the innovative cocktail method - I think the European Minsters should adopt this as official EU policy !! I have that Paperartsy stencil& love it! Every best wish for your op, will remember you in my prayers - do let us know how you get on as I'll be thinking about you! Ali #12

Looks like you had a fab holiday in Crete! Thanks for posting the photos.
Hmm it's hot too here. We go out on the scooter and it's like driving into a hot hair dryer, takes your breath away!
Isn't it nice to come home to some nice mail and goodies! Great stamps. And those numbers are going to be very useful. I'm always looking for large numbers and often end up printing them from the computer and fussy cutting...
Have a great week,(Hopefully.... I haven't had the chance to catch up on the cancer diary)
Thanks for stopping at mine already,

Oh Shaz, I am so glad you had such a great time in Crete! You both look very relaxed in the sun, enjoying your cocktails and such! You so deserve a nice break before you embark on the major surgery you are facing. I'll hop over and read your cancer page update in a mo. Thanks for your lovely comment and how well you understand what this is like!!! The idea, though, of it taking a YEAR to recover from the effects of the chemo is not something I relish at all - I had no idea it could take that long! It's a major onslought on the system, isn't it. Feeling slightly better this a.m. (so far... - it can change in a minute, as you know!) so I'm going to try and do a few jobs today but will probably run out of energy again before I can do anything creative!

Hang in there - we'll all get through this, won't we, and thank goodness for our lovely hubbies who support us through it all so well!

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #42

I'm so glad you had a fabulous vacation! I haven't been to create since 1967ish (I was a mere tween so it's all a bit blurry). What a fun bar that serves sparklers with beverages and banana boats! Lovely goodies. If it's Zombies you are after, check out Zombie Casanova (from Stampers Anonymous). It's a personal favorite. Keeping you in my thoughts #48
