WOYWW #288

First of all, before going any further, I want to apologise to all of you that find a word verification on my comments section! Nothing to do with me, Blogger has apparently done some sort of upgrading which now puts it there, even when you say no. They reckon viewers can get rid of these by enabling third party cookies on their browser, but I have them enabled on mine, and I can still see it on my blog.  Contacted their highly inappropriately named Help Forum last night, and gave them a piece of my mind- only a small piece, I don't have that much to spare. But if it stays in place, then I'm switching over to Wordpress! If anyone else hasn't had this appear, or knows a way of getting rid of it, I'd be very grateful! Rant over, and back to the reason we are all here, our weekly coffee morning at Julias place, The Stamping Ground.Still nothing exciting on my desk, in fact thats probably the most exciting bit- I've actually managed to get myself together somewhat and clear away everything that was on it, and I've even gotten as far as getting my Crimbo pressies wrapped. Thanks mainly to regular dosings of Tramadol and Morphine, the mix that finally worked. Didn't help that the stress of being in pain so much the previous week ended up with a trapped sciatic nerve, just to make things worse. One thing I have discovered with this mix, if I sit down and close my eyes, I'm asleep! lol. I swear I could lean in the corner and go straight to sleep.
However, we had finally got the pain under control by Thursday evening, which was good, as on Friday we had tickets booked to go and see Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds at the NEC.
Absolutely amazing night, even if I did leave with a completely numb bum, lol. They really need to do something about their seating! So thats my cheating desk this week- can't  believe I've just lost the two weeks I was planning to use to get all my cards done by being in pain. One good sign I've noticed is my stamina coming back- I can walk up two flights of stairs in one go now. Have a good week everyone- can't believe how close Christmas is now.

*****Quick edit***** Di's fix works perfectly( in my comments.) Also, ignoring the WV works too, just click post comment, and it goes through anyway.  Thanks Di, you are a star :)

What an amazing looking show!
I am glad you are getting your energy back, and I hope the pain doesn't last too long, you wouldn't want to be taking that cocktail of drugs for too long.
I meant to comment on my blog about the WV too - but find that if I'm signed in to my google account (which I always am)I can just enter the comment without having to enter the WV.... good old blogger!

Hi Shaz! There are two things you can do. I explained on my blog yesterday that if you go to your settings and make your comments embedded so that they don't open in a pop up or another window but directly below your post then that gets rid of it. Also, folk say that you can just ignore word verification and just press publish and it goes through.

Sorry, am doing this quickly due to eye problem.

Hugs

Cards schmarz. Those htat know and love you would far rather have you in a state of play than making them cards. So glad the meds combination has helped. War of the Worlds looks fab, great pics....my god I bet it was loud! Went to see Billy Joel at the NEc and I can only agree about the seating...

Sorry to hear that you've been in so much pain. Glad it's under control now and that you made it to the gig. I'm sure the photos are amazing, but for some reason I can't actually see them. I couldn't see Julia's desk shots either. What is up with Blogger? I have the same apology re WV on my blog too! Take good care of yourself x

So lovely to read you're getting some stamina back, but sorry about the pain and the trapped nerve. The gig looked wonderful, and a great lead up to the festive season. Happy WOYWW, Chris # 13

I would advise you against WordPress! I used to have a WordPress site and it was a nightmare to make any changes to the templates to customize them. Blogger is far better and easier to use even despite some occasional problems. I have Google+ comments enabled on mine, where there's no verification option at all as far as I know. The downside is that only people with a Google account can comment. Most people have a Google account, even if they don't realize it - it's the same as their YouTube account! Another advantage of the Google commenting system is that all Google+ comments appear on my blog as well and I get notifications if someone comments or replies to a comment I made. It's only useful though if you use Google+ for networking. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoole #40

Sorry to read here and in your previous post that you have been suffering, and that at last you are getting some energy back! War of the Worlds must have been brilliant although I bet it was loud - we have stopped going to Arena performances!! Hugs Chrisx 49

I happy to hear that the pain meds are working, and that you were out and about.

Looks like a fun time! So glad to hear your pain management is kicking in. We had a specialist for my husband who dealt with just pain management. I hope you enjoy all the Christmas wrapping and prep. I am working tons of overtime, so I haven't been sharing much lately. Next year, I am taking off! Take care!!

I can't believe Christmas is so close either! But it is wonderful to hear you are getting some stamina back, and I'm so glad you got to go out and enjoy yourself! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #56

Yay, the stamina rejuvenation is good news....not so good that you're still in pain though :-(
So glad you got to the gig though, it looks amazing! What great seats you had, position not comfort wise, that is!
Also glad you liked your PIFs, only something small but relevant to you both. I hope the raven plectrums add a certain demonic quality to Doug's guitar playing and the bat pegs are used for hanging up goth clothing, lol!!!

We have all our Christmas gifts wrapped too. Now to just wait and see what Santa brings. Thanks for the visit to my desk

I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. There's nothing like chronic pain to suck the energy right out of you.

Currently I have NO gifts wrapped, very few even bought and cards aren't even bought, much less sent. So feel good about what you've managed to do. :-)

Happy creating and happy Woyww,

Hi Shaz .... glad you got the meds sorted enough to enjoy the concert. You are way ahead of me on the Christmas front........Just for the record I am doing Christmas just cannot show and its not on my desk anyway lol. I noticed the WV popping up and I have been ignoring it and as you said it publishes anyway.... did you see it on mine ?

Hi Shaz, and thanks for passing on Di's word verification solution...it worked for me. Gosh I hope your pain is controlled and over soon and you can enjoy Christmas. Thanks for visiting my desk Cheers RobynO#27

Ooh, this looks amazing and such a great view. Maryanne mentioned last week that verification was turned on mine too so I will try Di's top tips above too.

Personally I wouldn't worry about making cards, last year when I came out of hospital I bought most of mine (just made a few for crafting buddies) ....it was actually quite liberating :-)

Hi good to hear your stamina is returning. glad you had a good time at NEC - up the road from me :-) Not sure if I've managed to get rid of word verification or not! Thanks for visiting me. Happy WOYWW Anne x #29

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better with the pain now, Shaz, and that you were able to go out and enjoy that show - it looks absolutely amazing! Great pics.

Thanks for your visit and your nice comment. Glad you have got some Ryn stamps - I love that water droplets one! I haven't got any of her later water drops ones but I have some moths, some leaves and a fish. Great stuff! My hubby will probably still not be driving 4 weeks after Christmas! Apparently he's broken a very small, but crucial bone in his wrist. It's a humungous bore as we both (Mum and me) depend so much on him to drive us around. A very kind neighbour dropped us off tonight for my final evening class and is taking Mum to the hospital next week to have her ears cleaned out, so we're not doing too badly, and my hubby is wearing out his bus pass as much as possible!

Oh my so sorry to hear you've been in so much pain. Not good at all. Glad you were able to go see the show. Yea, Di left me a comment also about how to fix blogger. Buggers of them to do this to us. I'll be looking into Wordpress myself. I hope they have an iPad app I don't use a laptop anymore. Thanks for the earlier visit! Happy WOYWW! Nan G #53

Sorry to hear about your pain but glad you found a mix to help. The show looks interesting. And Blogger added that stupid word verification to my blog, too, and I have NO idea how to end it. Hope you have a pain-free rest of the week! Happy WOYWW!

Hi Shaz, I'm glad you've got more stamina now, and hopefully will get that pain under control with your 'cocktail'. My husband and I were both drooling at those photos of War of the World. Lucky you. My hubby is a great fan.
Thanks for your kind words on my page earlier,
Have a good week

I'm testing it out, but I am pretty sure if you aren't logged in somewhere to a Google account you can't comment. I am just about at my limit for number verification only (I can usually do about 5, then even when I type in the right number it tells me I didn't and I get Word Verification for 24 hours. I can use two different browsers, my current one and an old unsupported Safari, so get about 5 in each, then have to wait for the next day to carry on :)) but will push on and let you know what happens. I've never been able to ignore it before so....

All that aside, what I wanted to say is I got a copy of the BOOK from that Raven video. It is seriously stunning. Alibris has it for shipping from the UK, I think it was under £10. I'd have mentioned it in secret to your DH if I knew how to do so :) I think you'd love it. Classic sci-fi and gothic horror ... they go hand in hand LOL!

OK, let's see what happens with the WV...OK so no, I am seeing number verification, as expected. So now will try ignoring it and just hit publish and no, now it is telling me I typed it wrong. I expect the NEXT time I try to publish it will kick me to word verification... but I am not going to risk it. :)

I am really sneaky and have a wordpress account but don't use it, I will one day but not yet. So I am signed into it and then I don't get the word verification on blogger when i am posting for my blogger weekly run of the mill stiff. This is my solution

So pleased you have the pain in order and control, there is nothing worse. What a fantastic time you seem to have had at the concert, nice to hear you are out and about. Enjoy the sleeping I wish I could do some more of that too.

Have a wonderful week.
