WOYWW #281

Yet again, another week has flown past, and here we are back at our Head Desker, Julias place at The Stamping Ground for another WOYWW.
I actually have a few pics of purchases this week, so the weak willed amongst you may wish to look away, lol.

First up, some new Stampscapes unmounted stamps. I do love my scenic stamps and these extend the range of scenes I can build up. The top two are intended to be snowy brooks, but can easily be grassy ones with a change of ink colour, and the next two down on the right are a right and left version of a river bank. Some small filler grasses and rocks, and a wading fisherman to add detail.

Next up is the engagement card I made for Mikey and KT.

Just a simple diamanté buckle threaded onto ribbon, and matted onto matching navy card, with a stamped and heat embossed sentiment.

Next up is a book I saw advertised in a Chocolate Baroque email, about Brusho paints. I still haven't got round to trying them out, been concentrating on the C- cards, but thought this might make interesting reading. Its full of various techniques for using them with other products, such as alcohol inks/gilding waxes etc.

Final pic is something I purchased thanks to Shoshi's post last week- some more mini misters. She had found an online store, Ampulla, selling them very cheaply. I went to have a look, and they turned out to be identical to ones I had bought from the NEC last year, just a lot cheaper.

These are the ones I ordered, and they are 54p each-and it works out to 49p each if you buy 25. I paid about £4.50, for a pack of three, at the NEC, and that's about average if you do an Internet search,so these are a lot  less than a 'craft' version, as usual!
These are the ones I bought at the NEC, one set was branded, Mist-It!, one has nothing on it. The one on the left is the 'new' one, the two on the right the originals.

Can't find any info on the volume of the Tim Holtz ones, but I reckon these hold at least half as much again, at 8ml. Here they are side by side. And they do spray a lovely fine mist.

Last couple of pictures now. One from Saturday night, when we went out for a meal with Mikey and KT to celebrate, and also my Eldest son Ant, came along, with Becky and the grandkids.
From the left, clockwise: KT, Becky,Mortimer, Ant, Merlin behind Doug, and Mikey.

 A better pic of Merlin.

Finally,as all of those who know me on FB  know,  on Sunday, we had to have our much loved cat Ambrose put to sleep. He was 16 1/2, and in final stage of heart failure, all his organs were shutting down. Mikey is heartbroken, he and Ambrose were pretty much inseparable when he lived here, where Mikey went, Ambrose followed. I phoned him to tell him what the vet had said, and he and KT came over, so all four of us were with him and fussing him when he died. We all left in tears, he'd been a big part of our lives for so long. I do have to say the veterinary staff inside Pet City were wonderful, and could not be faulted. Later next year, when all this cancer thing is done, we will adopt a rescue cat from Cats Protection, and give another cat a forever home. Speaking of the cancer thing, by now I've had my first day of chemo/radiotherapy, and be having my second later today. I will post up on my page later in the week how its leaving me feeling. The chest infection has gone also, so that's all to the good.

The Tim Holtz Mini Misters are 6ml to the brim. Now I am interested in seeing how they work especially with the added mica powders etc. I wouldn't mind trying one but we can't get them here I would have to order some.

Thanks for the interesting post today and sharing your finds, there are always alternatives.

Sending love and healing thoughts first and foremost.
Then - Stampscapes - wish I lived closer I would love a lesson or two on how to use these, your work is beautiful. Ooh, you must tell me about the book on Brusho, would love to explore them more and more.
Great buy on the misters, lovely card you made - so elegant.
Lastly, think I already passed my condolences on losing your Ambrose, but sad to hear how upset your son was. Sending love to you all.
Hugs, Neet 34 xx

Morning Shaz,
you never fail to amaze me, with so many difficult things going on in your life and you still have such a zest for living.
Those stamps look fun, enjoy playing with them. So sorry to hear about Ambrose, it is hard when you know it is best for the cat, but such a hole in your life.
Hope your chemo goes well today, will be thinking about you.

That was a good find by Shoshi! How fab that they're just as good but way cheaper. Win win situation all around.
Love your scenery stamps, they're so beautiful...I had a very unsuccessful try at stamping some Christmas labels at Julia's yesterday. I quite enjoyed it for a couple of hours but it's not something I'll ever take up, leave it to you lovely lot!
And Ambrose, still makes me sad......
Hugs, LLJ 21 xx

Morning, Shaz, it has been a long time since I got myself sorted to post on a Wednesday. I seem to have my brain back in gear and more focused. I have, not surprisingly, got the full set of the competed 'Twas the Night stamps (there are more to come), so if you want to borrow them, you are welcome. I am also dying to have a play with my Brushos. I have been told by those who have been playing for ages that the secret is to make a hole in the top so that you have more control over where it ends up. Hope things continue to go well this first week. Did you get caught up with the problems with the fallen trees in that area yesterday? xxx Maggie #38

Sending Knee-mail again today for you to help you through your treatment. I'm so sorry about Ambrose. Yes, indeed, our pets become part of the family and we grieve their loss as family. I so love those stamps. I've been to the website many times and watched the You Tube tutorials. I really must buy some soon.
Thanks for sharing your photos. Good wishes to you today. Nann #53

Lovely images Shaz! So versatile! So sorry to read about your beloved Ambrose. I had to do that for my cat Emily and it was so hard, but they were loved and given a great home. Great idea to adopt another one! All the best as you do your treatments. I am keeping you in my thoughts. Winnie #44

So sorry to hear about Ambrose. It's really tough when they've been part of the family for so long. Rosie drives me nuts, but I'll miss her terribly when her time comes. Glad you had a good time out to celebrate (love the card, BTW). Thinking of you as you bounce back from the treatment. Hugs, and have a good week, Chris # 3

So sad when a fur kid has to be put to sleep. We had to do this to our 19 1/2 yr. old kitty 3 years ago. Was so good you could be there with him in the final time. Prayers.
Never seen misters like that before. Interesting. And great Stampscape stamps! Happy WOYWW!

Oh Shaz, I am so, so sorry to hear about poor old Ambrose... He looks such a lovely kitty in the photo. I know exactly how you must be feeling, having been through this ourselves. We have also lost young ones on the road which is totally devastating.

Lovely family gathering photos! And your new stuff is lovely, too. That card with the diamante buckle is just soooo stylish! Gorgeous!

Thanks for the great review on the Ampulla misters. I haven't had a chance to try mine yet. What a rip off the craft supplied things are! Always worth shopping round, and I was delighted to find these quite by accident.

Thank you for your lovely comment, and for your kind thoughts about Beatrice - she is now 14, so not quite as old as Ambrose was, but feeling her age these days I think. She has responded well to the new antibiotics straight away, and is eating well and seems happy, but I wish we could get on top of these infections once and for all. Glad you like the tag I made to go with the honey and lemon cold remedy! It was fun to make.

Happy WOYWW,

So sad to read about your much loved cat. Those misters are a total bargain. I bought some a while ago, although I don't think it was the same seller, for around 50p each and they work great. Good luck with the continuing treatment xx

Happy WOYWW and hope the day has gone ok for you. I love all of your purchases. Those scenery stamps will be so useful. I love a bargain too. Went to T K Maxx today and bought a few lovely things - do not get there very often and hubby gets bored quickly, so did not get to rummage around in the craft/stationery section for long! We have got a store in our local town now, so planning a trip there tomorrow to check out their stock. Shshh, do not tell hubby!! Ali x #78

My goodness, Shaz - what a week of mixed emotions. A lovely family photo of you all out celebrating - some great stamps to play with - I know you SO love your scenes - and a sadness over Ambrose. Quite a week. I do trust the chemo is going well - we are praying for you here in North Wales.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Shaz,

So sorry to hear about Ambrose, he looks gorgeous in that photo.

Those misters, I might go for them. I was looking at some from somewhere, and I know they were cheaper for 25, might have been Clarity Stamps, I can't remember now. But I decided I had lived without until now and didn't bother.

Hope you are coping with your treatment.

Hugs,

Cazzy x

Great little mini misters I don't think they have made their way to OZ yet. Gab photo of your family. These are the times to enjoy together sharing food and having a laugh. It doesn't get better than that. Thinking of you and sending lots of positive thoughts across the seas.

Hi Shaz, Sorry Imlate. So sorry to hear about Ambrose. Gosh there's a lot going on at the moment isn't there.
I hope you're feeling OK after your first treatment. Are you having chemo and radiotherapy on the same day? I'm thinking of you and sending you good vibes.
Great to see you all enjoying the meal for the engagement.
What a good buy those misters. I have two Tim Holtz misters. I think they are 6 mls (haven't measured it, I just guestimate comparing it to a 5 ml syringe. lol)
The stamps are stunning. I have a few stamps (no landscapes) but I hardly ever use them. The stamp in my blog (thanks for visiting) is the first time I've used a stamp other than letters or numbers. I'm getting the bug though especially since I have water colour pencils and a tiny paintbrush which has water in it.(Brush H2O).
Sorry for being late commenting. This time I decided I'd start with the last one rather than start at the beginning.
Thank you for letting me have a peep of your workspace.
Have a good week

Sad to hear about your lovely kitty, and I hope the chemo goes ok.
Many thanks for dropping by earlier. I am getting later and later :)

Ooh more scene stamps, I loved the ones you had at the crop. Love the card you made and will be interested to see how you get on with the brusho as I recently bought 2 pots but am yet to play!
Sorry to hear about Ambrose

Ps..I bought some of those sprays back in the summer in poundland. Two for a quid, they had insect repellent in which I emptied and rinsed out prior to use

Yep, totally there with you - All of a sudden there are LOADS of things you can get via Amazon, from China, at dirt cheap prices. It is hit or miss sometimes, but overall I've been happy. This is a perfect example - those mini-misters are so useful and at that price you can afford to have a box full for when they eventually stop misting. And it happens to them ALL, branded or not. It's just when I've paid 50p for one and have 24 spares I don't stress out if I have to bin it like I would if it cost me over £1 and I only have 3 :D

Funny, I am actually hitting my stride with knitting (socks anyway) and enjoying it for now....

Happy (SO late) WOYWW!
