WOYWW #261

Good Morning everyone, how's your week going?  Wednesday again, and time for coffee and a chat over at Julias Stamping Ground. So whats on yours this week? Mines been getting a little inky, as I had a chat with Debbie, (Tattered Rocks), the other day about the Northern Lights, and wondered how it would work with Pearlescent Brilliance pads. I'll show you what I ended up with, but I'll do a post about them later in the week.
They don't look like much, but I learnt with these that they actually come to life when you stamp on them, so we'll see where that goes.

A few people last week asked what I did at the crop ( apart from drinking coffee, eating cake and talking that is), and it was the Northern Lights again, lol. I've got totally hooked on this, love how no two look alike, even when you use the same colours.
Actually, now I look at them, the top middle one was brayered. The others still need finishing, sponging inks into the water areas and so on. I'd stamped in Versafine, and didn't want to smear anything by doing that at the crop, so gave them time to dry first. Need to darken the sky on a couple too.
Big apologies to Debbie, for my enabling regarding Stampscapes stamps, lol.
So keeping it short after last weeks photo-heavy post, just a couple more for you.

The Visible Image stamp set I won arrived towards the end of the week, as well as my next batch of Adirondack re-inkers, and two of the new Alcohol ink colours, Botanical and Honeycomb.

Final pic is nothing at all to do with crafting- took my Mom to a Garden Centre last weekend, to get her a hanging basket, and on walking in I spotted these:

True Black Petunias, and a gorgeous dark burgundy with a yellow stripe. As LLJ said when I posted the pic on Facebook,Goth Petunias, rofl.
The black is an upright type, called Black Ray, and the striped is called Queen Bee, and trails.
So thats mine, show us yours, please?
Have a lovely week everyone, catch you later.

I am in AWE of that Northern lights technique, Shaz. I have NO idea what it is, but since I'm not really a stamper, I'll admire from afar. Yours are simply jaw dropping gorgeous.

Gotta love your "goth" petunias. LLJ always has the right words, doesn't she?

No number yet, but getting an early start while Julia sleeps.

Well I Had-a-Go but you fibbed when you said "you can't go wrong" ... I can go VERY wrong ... and did! My first attempts are in the bin and I am putting all thoughts of Northern Lights out of my head until some other time when I will try again.
Am in awe of your work Shaz ... well done you! Love Debbie xXx

Oh, the stamps came - are they as fab as you thought they'd be? You'll have to show a couple of things you do with them next week :-)
Those petunias still make me smile - your perfect flower...they really are velvety black aren't they?!
Hugs, LLJ xxxx

I love this technique and I learned very quickly that they look nothing until you stamp over the top of them and even then, they probably need a bit of adjustment and toning down in some areas. My favourite at the moment is Clarity black coated card with Imagination Silkies brushed on, with Clarity large trees, then toned down with Adirondacks. Looking forward to what you find out with the Brilliance pads. Have a good week. Speak soon. xx Maggie

Well, I saw them IRL at the crop and they looked stunning. Just not sure a photo can do them justice :) And totally with you, the Stampscape stamps are PERFECT as the image. You will love the VI stamps too - I have a few and they have such interesting images, I LOL at the goth petunias too - they looks so velvety. At my house they would morph, seamlessly, from Goth to Corpse petunias, although they would surely match my thumb (also black as the Ace of Spades.....
And on that note...did I mention The Story of Anvil to you at the crop? Watch for it on Film 4 - it's quite interesting. It was on my mind as DS is home and we've watched Waiting for Sugarman, Inside Llewyn Davis and Misson to Lars this week. I mean to ask if you'd seen it during the heavy metal chat at WOYWW but probably got sidetracked....

:)

Happy no-Linky WOYWW! (except I checked again and there it is!)

Hi Shaz,

I love the Northern Lights projects you are working on. What you made at the Crop are amazing! I wonder how much I'd actually get done if I went to the Crop. Thank you for the ATC, by the way!!

I love petunias; the black ones are truly stunning, although I'm partial to the burgundy with the yellow stripe. Most of my house is painted yellow so I guess that's my color!

Happy belated WOYWW. I'm hoping to get my visiting done by tomorrow!

Hugs,
