WOYWW #191

Back at The Stamping Ground, for this weeks WOYWW, hosted as always by our gracious hostess, Julia.
When JoZarty asked a couple of weeks ago, about making quilts for her Lillybo project, I remembered a box full of fabric panels I had, bought on various visits to the NEC, and it instantly sprang to mind for the quilts. They are from Pinflair, and they always have fabulous card samples on display using them. Another project I kept meaning to try, but never got round to.

teddies & fairies
There are all sorts of things:

cats & dogs

Wild Animals & Birds

Anyhow, I thought these would be perfect for quilts, and put to a good cause instead of remaining in a  box.

And I get to use my new Ikea Pinking Shears, lol!
I had a pair of pinking shears, but they were very old, and chewed through the fabric, rather than pinking it, to be honest. Searched all over the net, for a good, reasonably priced pair, because I don't use them that often. Blimey, some of the prices were scary! Which if you use them all the time, is ok, but I could probably count on the fingers of one hand how often I use mine. Finally found some soft grip ones, via Hong Kong(!), no brand, but all the feedback on them said they were very good, so I ordered a pair.  They are very good, I will agree, and I think cost me  about £8. Then we went to Ikea for my furniture, and I found them in there for £7. So now I have two pairs, lol. Just in case. So thats what I'm up to today, post your desk pics, good or bad, tidy or messy, and we'll get around to visiting you, sooner or later. Have a great week.

Hi Shaz, What a good way to use up the fabric panels. I know Jo will be over the moon with what you are doing. All i can sew is odds of paper, I will have to come up with another way to help.
Love your idea.
all the best

Sadly, when Mum died, I got rid of a lot of material because I just had no room to put it all. I think I have a small amount left that I was using for patchwork, but I have not got that far down the heaps and boxes to find that yet. I was awake around 6.00 am this morning so I logged on using the Kindle, so I did not even get out of bed - lazy, isn't it. I am glad I am not the only one to suffer from painting ruining hard work. Maybe you had the same art teacher as I did. Thanks for your visit today. Have you tried the new stamps yet? xx Maggie #11

Those fabric panels are awesome!!!! So unusual, I know the kids will adore them. I particularly like the woodland creatures one, so unusual. It's also a really quick way instead of patchwork....why do you think I chose the fabric that I did, lolllll. Anything for an easy life, I tell you :)
Loved the Ambrose story btw, why do they love sitting in bags so much?? Funny old things, but I wouldn't be without them!

Love the quilting fabric, Shaz. I bought some cushion covers years ago and they are on our bed - I quilted around the outlines of the pictures before making up the covers. They look great!

Well done with the pinking shears. Mine are at the chew-the-fabric stage, so maybe I shall have to ask our friends to pick some up for me next time they go to Bristol - our nearest Ikea!

Thanks for your lovely comment. Have art, will travel! I shall end up like a mobile art gallery if this goes on lol! I've got lots of ideas for new sets, too.

Happy WOYWW,

Oh yes, I can see those lovely panels made up into fabulous quilts and for such a lovely cause too. I am the one (actually hubby ) who paid a king's ransom for a pair a few months back... I will be on the look out for them in Ikea the next time I get inside one!! Annette #26
