WOYWW? #189

IMG_7496   Actually, this is the view from my desk, rather than whats on it. And it was yesterday, not today. Never mind, todays the day for 'show & tell' at The Stamping Ground, courtesy as always of our gracious hostess, Julia. So what actually is on my desk? Well, a great bargain from The Works, for starters. It was either £2.99 or £3.99, and its full of marbled papers.

They are on a shiny paper, which is not necessarily gooIMG_7499 wd, BUT, the best bit is that it comes with a cd, with all the papers on- how cool is that?IMG_7497 w Means you can print them onto matte paper- great for mens cards/ steampunk and so on.

IMG_7500 w

There are 120 designs, and for our purposes, are copyright free- you just can't use them in large quantities, or commercially.

IMG_7536 w

Other item on my desk is one of my Christmas presents from Beloved Husband- a melt pot. Still in its box- I'm looking forward to having a play with this!

Thats about it-if you want to see how these old stamp blocks became 'blending tools', its in the prevIMG_7503 wious post.

I'm off for my first lot of physio this afternoon,so I shall probably be feeling very sorry for myself later Sad smile. Have a great WOYWW.

No snow here Shaz but it looks like we may get a battering on Friday. Love the look, hate the aftermath.
May have to send DH to the Works for that book, love marbled paper and am lucky enough to have a few hand-marbled sheets bought in Florence when we went a few years back. I don't use it though - far too pretty.

Just looked at your homemade blenders, brill idea and one I will definitely do.

Thanks for calling in earlier and for your comments - always appreciated. Taking the dog out later - she loves the frosty ground, thinks it's her playground.
Have a great week.

Hi Shaz,

Brr that window looks cold looking out of it sending you a lovely 28c day like we had today very grateful for it too.. plus we did have 33mm to water the garden this week so doubly thankful for that!!

Melting pot no idea what I would do with it!! but am sure you will... so agree with you on marble paper why so do they waste ink printing it on glossy paper or is that it costs less to print it on gloss than Matt paper..very frustrating.

ah Physio, Shaz, feeling for you in but it is way to better use of the shoulder.. to help ease the pain I totally recommend Arnica cream and cold packs both help immensely I find. as they both reduce the inflammation.

Sorry for putting temptation in your way, Shaz. It is usually you that tempts me to spend. I like the look of those marbled papers, the disc especially. Do you remember how hard backed notebooks always had beautifully marbled inside the covers. Speak to you soon. xx Maggie #37

I hope the physio goes well, albeit painful!! I am jealous of your pressie, have wanted a melting pot for ages and almost had one whilst in Calgary but remembered it wouldn't work here so passed. The papers were indeed a bargain, and you can always treat them to get a less shiney finish!! Annette #3

Hi Shaz thanks for your lovely comments and visiting my first WOYWW. Had a little look at Riverside Beads and looks fab.
Will have to come and look more in depth at your pages and especially your stampscape projects - I could never master the pear-shaped dotty stamp for shading..
So many talented people and fabulous blogs that I am wondering how you seasoned WOYWWers ever get anything done...ha ha.. happy crafting Gill x (#128)

Lovely view. It tried to snow here in Glasgow today but gave up. It's still very very cold. I am thinking of a melr pot and look forward to folowing your adventures with it.
Persevere with the physio. I get it for some shoulder and neck pain that was very severe and am now at 90 % use again. Still a few more sessions and we are hoping for 95 to 100%.

Hi Shaz, it's so lovely you are willing to join in with LillyBo project... just make it simple and small. thanks to for the offer of fabric if needed. I'll post the full info over the next day or so.
you'll love your meltpot.. .so creatively versatile. I was lucky to take a full day class with Suze Weinberg before she retired and we made so many things.
Keep an eye out in charity shops for small wooden chess sets to use the pieces as quirky handles for those blending tools!!! Cheaper than buying handles. I paid £1 for a set.

Just got totally engrossed with how you made the blending tools - brilliant! Your new stash and toy are great too. Yep the Chronology cog dies are cool, work fine in my cuttlebug although the card is hard to prise from the die, especially one where there isn't a big hole, but I managed. Thanks for visiting me BJ#55

Can you please send some of that snow over the border please? I do believe we may get some on Friday if the weathermen can be believed.
I look forward to seeing what you do with your melt pot - or cauldron as my Hubby calls it!
Thanks for calling by and hope your physiotherapist wasn't too rough with you.

Hi Shaz, I've just been reading through some of your back posts and love what you've done with your stamps, and the wooden blocks too - an excellent recycling job. I haven't got that many stamps on wooden blocks to need to do that but I'll remember your post if ever I do.

I have a melt pot on my wish list - other priorities at the moment - so can't wait to see the projects you create using yours. I hope you've had a great WOYWW, Elizabeth x #52

PS: Loved looking at all those photos of your amazing and unusual wedding :)

Another PS: I hope the physio wasn't too hard on you and that you are not suffering too much.

Lovely papers, Shaz, and what a great pressie from your hubby. I've got a melting pot but haven't used it much - I must get it going again! It's a very useful tool.

Thanks for your lovely comment about my zentangle album. Zentangle is really "organised doodling" - you'd be really good at it after all those years of practice while your mum was bending your ear on the phone lol!! It's highly addictive and really creative!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Clever you making your own blending tools! I also use my own felt for my alcohol inks, can't see it's any difference! That CD looks good - I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like those shiny papers you get - I'm not really sure why but I tend to let the kids have them at work when they come with things I would never buy shiny on purpose. Anyhow, hope the physio wasn't too bad, and thanks for stopping by (more snow tomorrow?) Cindy #74

I am deliberating the purchase of one for myself and so far just haven't gotten around to it...there are just so many toys and so little time! :) Thanks for stopping by my desk already and leaving me a comment. I'm running behind again this week on my return visits...but I have been busy playing in my craft cave! lol I mean, you saw all my new stamps, they just had to get inky! Take care and great job on the blending tools you made yourself. Deeyll :)

What a good idea, blending tools can cost so much.
Doing it your way, I can have one for each colour. At for a fraction of the price.
Thank you for sharing your idea.
