WOYWW #183

Good Morning to all WOYWWers, courtesy as always of the fantastic Julia at  The Stamping Ground.
Just a pic of the room now fully plastered- and this morning I am really glad I am not in the same condition. I am also discovering that typing with one finger, left handed at that, is a very time consuming process! Due to an attack of stupid last night, I am sat here with my right arm in a sling. So here is the story:
As you all know we are decorating what will be my new craft room. Well, last night I stopped what I was doing, made our lunch for work & cooked dinner. Put said dinner out & called Beloved Hubby for his, took my plate & mug of coffee into the front room, so we could sit & watch something while we ate. Didn't turn the light on first, as I intended to put my plate down on the stool, and go to the light switch. Completely forgot that there was a pack of 9ft long skirting board lay on the floor along the back of the one sofa, hadn't got the light on so didn't see it in the dark, and fell over it. Would have been a better landing had I not had my hands full and fell straight down, arms out in front of me, 'cos like an idiot I was STILL holding onto the plate & mug.Knew as soon as I landed that my right arm took the brunt of the fall, Hubby thought I had probably dislocated it. After an evening/night spent in A&E, and x-rays,because the first assessment nurse thought I had either dislocated my shoulder, or fractured the upper arm, it turns out I have sprained my shoulder/ possibly torn ligaments. I have some record breaking bruises, only to be expected, I'm the sort of person who bruises if you look at me hard, lol. Amazingly, the plate & mug came out unscathed, so I can vouch for the toughness of Ikea crockery, by the way. In fact the only thing broken is my attendance record at work- first time off sick in 10 years. So there is a bit of a picture shortage this week, I can only use my arm if I keep it right up close to my body, which sort of limits the options a bit.
So I shall be getting round as many people as possible, but I apologise in advance for what will be very short comments, as I am not the worlds fastest typist at the best of times, and lefthanded, one finger- well, I'd probably only be a quarter of the way round by next week, lol.Its really annoying how you always manage to injure your main hand/arm- if it had been my left I landed on, I would be at work, and could carry on doing most things- although Hubby did have to help me get dressed this morning- I did comment to a friend  that its possibly the first time he's had to put a bra on me! Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Oh Shaz, what a thing to happen! I do feel for you, you must be so sore - lots of pain killers needed. Take care on the stairs and thing like that. Hope you get more sympathy from your friends than I did when I broke my wrist. All I got was concern that I might hav trouble typing in the results of the Land Rover event at Eastnor (the Major's Trial) the following weekend. Are you going to be able to do your crafting one-handed? Do you need any help? You know where we are. Lots of love and hugs xx Maggie

Ow, ouch, oooch and eeek! I bet you never even got your meal either! Poor you. We crafter need three hands not two. Hope you heal quickly. Get yourself a tube of Arnicare to help clear the bruising. It is magic and NATURAL! I'm never without it wherever I go.

What a disaster, Hope it is not too painful and heals quickly. I did my wrist a couple of years ago and that was bad enough - could just about get dressed myself.
Hope to see you crafting again soon, in the meantime enjoy as much pampering as you can.
Thanks for visiting earlier

I appreciate that you visited me and left a comment given your poorly arm - thanks so much!! What a thing to happen, poor you - it sounds as if the broken work attendance is more bothering to you than your arm. I really hope it mends soon, take care..

Oh gosh I know you're probably in pain but your post did make me chuckle a bit esp visualising hubby helping you on with your bra. It would take me 'forever' to type with only left hand finger so thanks for visiting me earlier.
Take care,

Well, Shaz, in my broken arm experience, they are as bad at putting a bra on as they are at fumbling aut trying to undo one!!!!
Gracious you did take a nasty fall...bet you need a couple of days for shock, let alone to settle in and start the healing, poor you.

Oh no... what a horrible thing - no crafting, no blogging (no work, of course, but that's less of a nightmare). Do hope your recovery is swift and smooth, and hope you have a happy WOYWW in any case!

Oh no! That is not a happy Wednesday story at all, and I see in the post above that the story did not get any better today! Still, as you say, you may become ambidextrous, and think how useful that will be!

Re: your comment on my blog -- I prefer cling-mounted to unmounted too, I must say, but I bought these stamps unmounted and haven't yet got any clingy stuff for them. Clearly that needs to be high on my priority list.

Finally catching up..and I'm so sorry to hear of your accident! I'd say you've got the one hand typing down pretty well. And let me say; any reason to go bra-less is a good one for me. I hope you get better soon. Oh, and thanks for stopping by and your lovely comments. Rest well.

Oh my goodness I really feel for you I had a nasty fall quite a few weeks ago myself when i fell off the roof of the house and thankfully no bones broken either but massive brusing much like you and limited mobility. Do take it easy and dont push yourself as it really doesn't help anything heal faster. Take it from me, I tried to push it. LOL Ikea crockery must be tough stuff.

Sorry to be getting back to you so late but life has been nightmarish busy with christmas hampers etc.
