WOYWW #177

IMG_7188 w
A crafting desk liberally scattered with stuff, for this weeks Wednesday Wander round the Worlds Wordesks, courtesy of our delightful hostess, Julia Dunnit at The Stamping Ground. In the middle of making a Birthday card for our Daughter-in-law, who as regular visitors to WOYWW will know, is Silvercrafters (Maggie) daughter. Tim Holtz is out in force for this one- Distress Inks, Distress Pens, Craft Resist Paper Pad and Papillon stamp set! IMG_7189 w

There are a few stamped butterflies about, as I tried a few different colour combos from the Distress Pens. I used a sheet from a Papermania pack to stamp the Papillon words on repeatedly.Tore it in half and sponged & distressed the edges. I stuck it to the front, then decided I would tear off the remainder of the front and stick a piece of the Kraft Resist Papillon sheet behind it.IMG_7192 w
I've threaded some fibres through the tag,- bit of a fancy title, fibres- its actually 'knitting wool, lol. Cost me a quid, in a clearance sale. I've bought a load of them that way, different types of wools in assorted colours. These matched the tag perfectly. the tag is mounted with sticky pads, I've just got to sort out the sentiment and its done. So that's my mess  desk this week- I shall schedule this for Wednesday morning, but probably won't get to link up till this afternoon as we are now working alternating shifts- one week mornings, one week afternoons. This week we are doing mornings, 6 till 2, so I shall be round to visit later.

Hello Shaz, gosh, but you must be getting up in the middle of the night to do that shift! Although I can see a plus side if your are finished by 2pm - almost like having a half-day every day ... well, maybe not :) The birthday card is looking great - love the butterfly tag with it's 'fibres'. Great idea to buy the balls ... I've bought little bags of small lengths that cost a great deal more than your £1 a ball. Happy WOYWW, what's left of it, and have a great week. Elizabeth x #114

Oh I love the colors the butterflies came out. It makes me think of fall leaves. The fiber you used was so pretty too.

Lucky girl to get such a pretty handmade card.

Hi Shaz, glad you are finished for the day. Not sure when Julia does the Mr Linky thing. I went to bed about 12.45 and it wasn't there then, but when I got up at about 2.30, it was there then. I probably just missed it. You have just given me an idea of what I can do with a load of unwanted (for cross-stitching) embroidery threads. They would work well as embellishments, and you can comb them till they are soft and silky (I used to play with them like that when I was very young). Speak to you soon. xx Maggie #33

Ohhh, all the Tim Holtz on your desk makes me drool! Your card for your DIL is just great!

Great bargain on the yarn.

I saw on a comment you left on another blog that your son had testicular cancer 12 years ago...what a worry that must have been. my DH had the same cancer...about 30 years ago...we were nervous for several years that it would return...but we were one of the lucky ones. That many years ago the prognosis was not as good as it is now!
Off to read a few more posts.

What a super way to handle a tag. love it.

Your desk is nice and tidy but busy with the beautiful work you have been doing on creating that tag. It is so funny when products are simple like wool and we use the term fibers, I get a giggle out of it all the time.

Thanks or sharing and visiting.

Well I think it's a fab card that you make and hmm, not a mess in sight if you ask me! Love the mix of papillons, really works well...bet your DiL will be really chuffed.

Ooh, I've just noticed something, I think. Is your desk slightly tilted? Or have I not had enough caffeine this morning just yet...? Well, anyways, I do know that's a fine mess you've got going on there and an equally fine, no, it's better than that(!), and lovely butterfly card! And I'm sure this is a doh! moment for me but I've done that sort of thing before, where you get a piece on the front of a card and then change your mind, only I *never* thought to just rip part of the card front off! Brilliant! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a comment...I think that quite often "specialty" supplies, like craft containers, are marked up significantly, just because the marketers think they can, and they can! But not to me! Well, not to me *most* of the time. lol :)
