WOYWW #420

Well, we had a fab weekend in London, and blimey was it hot! Still is for that matter. The concert, Guns N Roses, was ace, seeing Axl & Slash on stage together after all this time was an experience we didn't want to miss.

Packed doesn't even come close to describing it!

Then on Sunday we decided that as we were there, we'd go to the Natural History Museum. An incredible place, Free entry, like the Science Museum next door, and free disabled parking right outside.

So much to see, and to be honest, I'm not sure what was most spectacular- the exhibits, or the building itself.

The carved work on the stone pillars was just amazing- see the shells down the edge of this one?

And sea creatures here.

Absolutely an amazing place to visit.

Driving through London was a bit hairy, but we went down Fleet Street, the Strand, past Nelsons Column & Trafalgar Square, past The Ritz and loads more I've forgotten.

Well, with that weekend, and how hot it's been not much crafting has been done. The only thing on my desk is this piece, done with an Imagination Crafts stencil, and some homemade glitter embossing paste, just using clear Embossing paste, and mixing in glitter. Just wanted to try it out and see if the idea worked.
All the glitter, but no shedding.
All I need to do now is get round to finishing off all the things I've started lately!
So get yourself over to Julias place, The Stamping Ground, add your link and get to visit desks all around the world.

Glad you enjoyed the concert and also the museum - got to love London's free museums! I wouldn't have enjoyed driving in London though; good on you! Your desk more crafty than mine, way too hot to contemplate crafting (though i have some birthday cards to get done!) Helen #8

Sounds like a fab weekend Shaz. You are looking great - the two of you.
Love those pillars, that is somewhere on my wish list now after seeing your post.
Keep smiling and stay happy.

I found out about the glitter stars when I washed up on monday night. The sink of water i ran looked more like a snow cone , as a certain someone hadnt rinsed the sink properly :) everything had to be re rinsed under the tap as i didnt notice it until i had almost finished due to the ever-so slightly OTT amount of liquid i tend to put in.
I looked over to the draining board to see a nice clean stencil trying desperately to look innocent and failing miserably.

Lol, Doug's comment above made me hoot! YOu can't get away with anything :-D. So glad you enjoyed the gig, it had a great write up. And I adore the Nat Hist Mus too, funnily enough it was the carvings on the building that I looked at mostly as well!!

Glad you had such a great time at Guns n Roses, two friends of mine went and said it was fantastic. The museum is amazing isn't it, and like you I was enchanted by the little details in the building itself - probably more so than the exhibits! I have to admire you driving through London, definitely not a relaxing experience I'm sure!
Love the idea of making glitter paste - it sounds so simple yet I've never thought doing that - I had to laugh at your hubby's comment and the glitter mess he found!
Hope you have a great week,
Hugs,

What a great London trip you had! Thanks for sharing all the photos. And also sharing your tip on your glitter paste...I do hate the "shedding" so I'll have to give this a try. Have a great week.

Shaz, I went to the Natural History Museum when I was at school and remember it to this day (I'm 54 now). Think you need to visit more than once to see it all. Thanks for sharing your photos. Never been int he Science Museum.

Glad you enjoyed the concert.

Your glitter stars are lovely. So what will you make with it?

I didn't even know Guns 'n' Roses were in concert till my friend posted on FB that she was there. CANNOT tell you how green with envy I was of her and now of you! GREEN. Not an attractive shade either.

I love the Natural History museum, isn't it glorious?

Have a lovely week,

So glad you enjoyed your trip to London, Shaz, but I'm not sure I could cope with London in all this heat - or at any time these days, actually! It's many years since I went to the Natural History Museum - Dad used to take me there on our annual London trips. I love the glittery stars - what a great idea for making shed-proof glitter - that stuff is a pain! I rarely use it for that reason but usually confine myself to Stickles if I want a bit of sparkle.

Thank you for your sweet comment. Yes, it is devastating to have lost both kitties, so close together. We've tried Cats Protection and loads of other sites too but so far no joy - my sister said not to be too fussy or we wouldn't get any, but we do want our grey tabby babies! Something will turn up soon, I am sure.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Shaz,

I saw on FB that the concert was great - but holy cow - very crowded!! How high up where you to take that photo?

The buildings are just amazing. I'd love to see all the architecture there. The Natural History Museum building itself is a piece of art.

Hi Shaz, pleased you had a good weekend it's ages since we've been to London. You asked me about stamping on Canvas. I only tend to stamp directly onto the edges where the frame is but if you want to stamp directly onto the canvas the best thing is to place it over something hard (this is not a problem with Canvas board as it has a solid base anyway. Other than that stamp on tissue and glue it on with Mod Podge. I don't know why this is different but I've tried other glues but when I've used MP for some reason the tissue disappears into the canvas. Of course stencilling is good and stamping can be done on card and then attached to the canvas. Thanks for the visit to mine. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x22x

Happy Belated WOYWW. We used to go to those two museums regularly when I was younger and visiting my aunt, who lived in Notting Hill then. Lots of happy memories of Sundays when my Dad needed something to entertain me, and it was free! Ali x #30

I agree, the Natural History Museum building is just as great as the exhibits, just the sort of things I notice too. Glad the concert was great, like a bit of GnR myself, mainly Sweet Child Of Mine really though. But I do have a t-shirt still from my college days of them. Not sure I could get in it now though LOL. Having a bit of a blip with glasses but hope to get that sorted tomorrow (see FB). Love your home made glitter paste. Thanks for the visit BJ#5

Hi Shaz! I'm so sorry I couldn't get back earlier! I lost my internet connection on Wed, just after I published my post and could only visit a couple of people. It's back now, yippee! I used to be a massive Guns 'n Roses fan in my 20s! November Rain is still one of my favourite songs. The concert must have been incredible - and Doug looks the part too LOL! I remember being in awe of the Natural History museum - it must be almost 20 years since I've last been. Lovely photos! I didn't know you lived in Redditch! Will keep that in mind in case we end up near-by! I hope you enjoy the somewhat cooler weather - I certainly do! zsuzsa xx
