WOYWW #412

Another week further into the year, and another WOYWW,hosted as always by our lovely leader, Julia, over at The Stamping Ground. And I'm sending Julia hugs, and hoping her poor eye is somewhat better by now.
On the desk, these dies from The Works. Great deal at the price, and although I had some I'd bought of the Dies from China, these go much bigger.
One niggle- why do die manufacturers stick them down with such ridiculously strong tape? The struggle to get them off without bending any, then you have to remove all the sticky residue from them.
Another die, bought from Joanna Sheene is a nice trailing ivy. Cuts beautifully, and that was only held down by a really light sticky stuff, which wiped straight off. So plus point to Joanna for that.
I've put it on my cutting mat so you can see the size.

I'd been going back to some of the stencils I did a few weeks ago, and it dawned on me I've been doing stencils, and die cut cards for weeks, and I haven't done any stamping. So I stamped out the Teasels stamp in white,to sponge some ink over. Then I wanted to add a dragonfly, and spotted  The Dragonfly Flourish stamp, so did some of those too. I'll finish them off over the next few days, and get the cards posted up.

Talking of Teasels, did you know they were the inspiration behind Velcro? Some guy was struggling to get them off his sons coat and a lightbulb went off, and as they say, the rest is history.

Another stencil experiment, and I'll get these made up too, and explain how I ended up with the ones below. It all started with a card I saw on Pinterest, lol.

No idea where I'm going with these, hopefully inspiration will strike in the near future, or they'll find themselves in the UFO box, which is getting kinda full.

Quick mention, just over a week till Happy Stampers. Anyone else who is going, give us a shout, and we'll meet up. I know Neet ( Hickydorums) is going.
I finally have the date for my scan, it's a CT, not an MRI which is good, as they don't take as long. Scan is an Saturday, then we have a meeting with the Oncologist on the 5th of May for the results. Fingers crossed.
 And finally, this:

So much going on, what a great post. I still love that dragonfly stamp, it's a beauty and must get mine out again some time. That's one of the great things about the desks it reminds me of the stuff that's hiding away some where. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x8x

I'll be at Port Sunlight! I totally agree with the sticky stuff on dies. There's only one thing more annoying and that is when they use the little foam pads to attach the dies to the card! Happy WOYWW Sarah #15

I see we have the same eye for a bargain, Shaz. I got those dies too. They are pretty good for the price, aren't they. I love the craft stuff in The Works, you can find some great things. Loved the velcro fact, you learn something new everyday. Good Luck with your scan. I will keep everything crossed for you.

Yes! Why, oh why, do they stick those thin metal dies down with super strong tape? The SU sets are almost impossible to get off the backing card without bending them. 'Tis a nightmare! Lovely work with the stencils. Something I rarely dabble with. Fingers firmly crossed for Saturday xx

Happy WOYWW. I need to go to the Works to get my next diary (I get their cheap academic year ones, so the summer is time to get the next one). I was looking on their website and they have lots of fab new craft stuff in. Determined not to buy anything, but ok to look! Ali x #25

No, one doesn't. Much to one's eternal shame!!
I go through phases of all dies or all stamps...only own about three stencils so that's so far not been an issue. I like the way you have an idea and always do more than one at the initial stage, it's a habit I must copy!

Hi Shaz, I have been wondering how The Works dies are, as they are a very good price.

I love your Dragonfly images. Your flower stencils are so pretty. They'd make a lovely set of notelets.

Your bubble images are crying out for some kind of sea creature.

The frame is nice and waiting for an image in the middle.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

What fun you have had playing, Shaz! I love the results. I know what you mean about the ultra-sticky backing for those thin dies. I think the answer is to peel the backing off the dies, rather than trying to peel the dies off the backing. I love the quote lol lol! and yes, I did know that about teasels - so many brilliant ideas have come from nature - God is the best designer at the end of the day!!

Thanks for your lovely comment. The support garments lady never turned up, and didn't return my call till this a.m. She said she had it down for today... I am so sick of being messed about by these people, and if I have developed another hernia I shall not be best pleased because they could have prevented it. I'm seeing my surgeon at 12.15 today, and my hubby suggested I have a word with the stoma nurse afterwards and let her know what's been going on with these support garments. So glad you like how our kitchen is looking - completely uncluttered for now! Still no news on the new pantry so I'm going to phone our neighbour again today and see if he can chase up the kitchen fitter. I'm managing fine in the small kitchen and cooked a special meal last night which was a great success even if it took for ever!!!

Happy belated WOYWW,
